  • Going to The Beach With a Nudist, Are You Comfortable With How Your Body Looks?

    Ms. Cappuccino

My friend and I were on vacation recently, and she suggested that we go to a nudist beach. My initial reaction was, "Help! I've traveled halfway around the world with a closet exhibitionist, and I don't know my way back without her! What am I going to do?!"

She obviously guessed my thoughts, and explained that going to a nudist beach is the ultimate way to say that you're comfortable with your body. I mulled it over. I thought about the time I was showering at my friend's house, and she simply walked in and started brushing her teeth. I squealed for five minutes before she reassured me that she wasn't looking at me. I had shampoo in my eyes -- I took her word for it. A few minutes later, she asked if I had been working on my abs.

I was not amused, but she said the same thing my friend was saying now, "Why are you so uncomfortable in your own skin?"

I guess I'm not comfortable with my body, or not comfortable enough with my body to walk around in my birthday suit. And who hasn't had the dream where they go to school naked? Actually, I haven't had that dream, but it's embarrassing nevertheless! I opted out of the beach suggestion, but now I sort of regret it. It's rare that you can do something so liberating and daring.

So, would you bare all at a clothing optional beach? What is the ultimate statement you made/wish you had made to say that you're comfortable in your own skin?

I streaked several times before. I do know how you feel though. It's really a matter of self confidence and you're not the only one. It usually gets easier after the first time though.

I don't see why people are so uncomfortable with being in their skin.  You were born in it you live in it you die in it.  Everybody has it, and it's nothing to be ashamed of.

I would be willing- as in, comfortable enough with my body to do it, but my husband is not comfortable with the idea of me doing it, at least not around other people.
I do think it would be wonderfully liberating to swim in the ocean nude, so if we ever find a deserted beach, I'm trying it!

I have never had the dream going to school/college in the nude,

Once I had the dream going out in the nude to the end of the road and to the supermarket.

I would not stripped all the way down at a clothing optional beach.

My stomach could use some toning up but I think I'm happy with the way I look naked.

That and there are a couple people (besides my boyfriend) who would like to see me naked.  What an opportunity for them, hah.

no clothing make the man, besides even on public beaches girls dont wear much. i see it all the time at the beach. its nice to have eyecandy. leave something for the imagination please.....

  • AmberBelen@xanga

No way!! Not if I have possession of all my senses anyway. I certainly don't have a beach-worthy body but even if I did, I'd still think twice about baring it all. It just seems creepy knowing that people are looking at your body and thinking God-knows-what in their minds about it. I don't see the point of nude beaches anyhow.  That can't be the ultimate way to declare you're comfortable in your own skin, but even if it is, I'll pass.

I have no problem walking around my house naked, but something about the prospect of others (multiple others, at one time) seeing my naked body makes me squirm.  Call it a lack of confidence or extreme modesty, but you won't be seeing my nekked form anytime soon.

  • everenchanted@xanga

    Lmao, I wouldn't do it.  Even if I had a really toned body, I wouldn't.  o_O

  • merridian@xanga

I used to feel the same way you do, until I was in the Army and had to always shower with at least 10 or so other girls at the same time, for 10 wks straight.  That cured me of the "locker room" shyness.  However, being on a public beach would be an entirely different situation.  Still, if there were others out there whom I felt shared my body shape, I'd join them.

Honestly, if it was a nude beach and everyone else there was naked, I would probably do it. Just because I don't think nudity is necessarily sexual; it's just natural. And if everyone is naked, the focus probably won't be on me or whoever I'm with. Plus my friend is often in the bathroom when I shower and vise versa, so it's no big deal.

  • kruton87@xanga

I wouldn't go to a nude beach.  Not because I'm uncomfortable with my body, but because I am a modest person.  I feel uncomfortable showing too much cleavage, and I happen to think my breasts are pretty ok.

  • kmiahali

it is kind of out of the ordinary. not many people do things like that. if you're fine with the way your body looks, by all means go ahead.

  • kash

if everyone was naked, I guess i'd be the odd ball so I probably wouldn't mind

I would go topless in Europe, but not go to a nude beach here (nor there, actually; i just don't like drafts). In Europe I feel like it's both free-spirited and natural, but at the same time a little sexy to walk around topless. Here nudity seems to either be completely sexualized, or only belong to hairy naturalists who wear Birkenstocks and socks with their "skin". Basically it creeps me out.

when i was in germany i went to a spa (where everyone is nude) with my bf, a guy friend from college and a man we had met only a few days previously.  it was one of my favorite nights!  and i'm so glad i went!  i'd totally do it again in a heartbeat.

  • xAntiFairyTale@xanga

Eh, my take on it is that going to a nudist beach is like watching live porn, except theres no actual action. Gross.I honestly don't think humans look good with everything hanging out.

  • thepanged1@xanga

i've streaked and went skinny dipping on a dare before, so a nude beach...sure...why not

  • raved@xanga

I wouldn't be able to do that.

  • newyorkcompany@xanga

I for one am not comfortable with my body, wish it was better looking. =\

  • s_h_a_sha@xanga

i like being naked when i'm alone...

nude beach would be fun..i think haha..

  • sunshyne_sadie@xanga

I don't have what the American society would deem as the ideal body type.. i have wide hips, a bit of a belly, and an unfortunately small chest for the rest of my figure. I have been naked in public on multiple appropriate (and not so appro.) occasions.. It really is all about your confidance and how you carry yourself. And if someone else has a problem with you being you, they don't have to look! :)

  • omgitsmackie@xanga

I love being naked. I have my own body issues, just like everyone does. As long as I am attractive to my husband (both mentally and physically) and as long as I am at least somewhat comfortable with my own body, that's good enough for me. Besides, no matter how bad you think you may look, there is always going to be AT LEAST 1 person that likes the way you look, even if you don't.

So a nude beach? Most def. =]

  • pocket_mouse_poppet@xanga

I remember running around naked at beaches (secluded, but not clothing-optional) until the age of about seven or eight. And going about at school like a boy (wearing pants&no shirt) when I was about six...
    As for nudity now?
I don't know. It's an experience I'd love to have, but chances are I'd chicken out if it ever came up.

  • SeitekiChibiNeko@xanga

if i got back in shape i'd have no problem with it
12 years of studying dance in spandex and stripping before 20 other girls kinda wears away at your ability to be a prude LOL
