Healthkicker QOTD: What's Your Work Out Preference?
Healthkicker
Question Of The Day:
Do you prefer to exercise for 1-2 hours a day for a few days or 30 minutes a day everyday? Which one do you think is more effective? Why?

It is more effective to do it at least nearly every day. It keeps your metabolism up and healthy. Likewise, it can be more beneficial to work out in small increments throughout the day, say get warmed up and your heart beat up for 10 minutes 3 times a day. I can't always do this because of time, but I try to at least walk a couple different times each day for 10-15 minutes.
I work out 1-2 hours, 5 days a week. Consistency is what I prefer. I do know a lot of people who do the 3 days a week thing. But 5 days a week helps to keep me motivated for the next week.
@quiet_strength@revelife - that's so great to hear 'cause that's what i tend to do too
I do about an hour 2 days of week & 30 minutes the rest of the days.
@mscerakinx@xanga - :)
some people who want to be ulta-thin or body builders will probably not be okay with my response, but I have read consistent reports that read this is adequate for a healthy metabolism and over-all well being.
i wish i worked out that much! i like yoga. do that once a week only (cuz it's expensive) for 2 hours, and then a few other days maybe walking on the treadmill
30 minutes a day..
I usually work out an hour every day or every other day. So like Monday I do yoga for an hour. Tuesday I do treadmill or ab work for an hour or less. Wednesday I do a step class for an hour. Thursday I take a body sculpt class. Friday I do a half hour abs class. And Saturday I take off. Sunday is treadmill for about an hour or less.
Cardio is most effective from about 20 to 60 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a week. Anything beyond that won't get your heart any healthier, but it will burn more calories.
Lately, I've been running 3-5 miles one or two times a week because I've been slacking due to weather and the fact that I just moved into a new townhouse. At my peak, I run 2-10 miles three or four days a week and another form of cardio one or two days a week. I do toning and strength training for about 30 minutes at a time, two or three times a week. I'm doing the toning part regularly right now, but getting the motivation to run outside in freezing temperatures and precipitation has been difficult. :\ I really want to take advantage of the racquet ball court I have at my complex (because their treadmill sucks), but I don't have anyone to play with.
i usually do somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half, seven days a week.
I just do yoga and Pilates.
I prefer not to exercise at all! I would rather just live life and get things done... that is most effective! Alas, there is not enough physical activity in my day so working out is necessary
i prefer working out for 30 minutes. i don't really work out, i just play basketball for like an hour.
I am so obsessed with exercising, I do 1-2 hours usually 5 times a week. The energy of constant exercise keeps me going. But I prefer cardio exercises, like running, elliptical, aerobics, etc. I just feel alot better afterwards. It differs with every person, but I find exercising everyday is more effective.
1-2 hours, my warmups alone sometimes take 30 minutes, so I have longer workouts. It's not a constant workout during those 2 hours or so, it just takes longer to get done.
Variety is the spice of life! A little of this, a little of that. There has to be SOME consistency though. I go to the gym for an hour or so at least a few days a week, the days I want to lift weights in addition to cardio.
I try for 30 minutes, every day. But with the snow falling, I'm going to start running doubles. 30 minutes in the morning and evening; it will let me get my run in while limiting my exposure to the cold.
Also, when I'm not running, I get 20-40 minutes of strength training done 4 days per week.
I do the 2 hours a day, 3 times a week thing. Being a nightshift nurse with 12 hour shifts doesn't allow you to work out 7 days a week (Although I wish I could work out 7 days a week). But, technically I guess I get some physical activity every day since bed side nursing is a form of physical activity..for me at least.
i do 2-4 hours/day 5-6 times a week, but its a lot of variety.
