Lose Weight With Funny Diets
My friend, Maggie, was complaining about what an animal she is when it comes to snacking at weddings. She won't let a plate of hor d'oeuvres go by her. I personally think that weddings are depressing gatherings designed to make single people feel bad about themselves, so I'd say, "Eat all you want. You're a trooper for just being there!"
Maggie's sister, however, recommended the clutch diet. We all had deer-in-headlights expressions until she explained that you hold a clutch in one hand, and thus only have the other hand to grab food with. It decreases hand-to-mouth intake by at least a half. It sounded ridiculous, but the girls at a Weight-Watchers-like establishment across the street swore by it.What are some other funny diets? Fellow Xangans submitted these responses:
The Wrong Hand Diet: Well, for those of us who actually HATE purses of all sorts . . . For many people, eating is just natural. You have food in front of you, so you eat, and finish the plate, even if you aren't that hungry. So, eat with the wrong hand. My sister recommends it. She's right handed, so she eats with her left hand. She has to remind herself to eat, then, because it's not a natural movement. This hesitation makes her question whether not she's really hungry. It costs nothing :) - smgcrossfire
The Fork Diet: My mother has told me about the fork diet, putting the fork down, but I can't resist. -justavaporhere
The Paul McKenna Diet: Y'know some people might laugh at this but Paul McKenna teaches about a distraction type of eating where your mind is focused on what you're eating rather than other things, so holding something in your hand would be a good way to eat smaller portions, another thing Paul McKenna teaches. - Pony_Queen
The just put something (like a clutch) over your problem area diet: (Self explanatory)
What do you guys think about these diets? Would you try one of them? How do you stay fit during the holidays?

idk if i'd actually try one of those diets but they're pretty cute. And I'm ambidextrous so I already eat with both hands lol. I think the lemonade diet is hilarious and ridiculous. And that one is really popular!
Sounds like self control might help
wrong hand diet might actually work lol.. i could imagine myself getting frustrated and giving up on eating very quickly
the wrong hand diet is worth a shot I guess. I don't know if the other ones would really help.
For fans of the "Just put something (like a clutch) over your problem area" diet I recommend the easy and equally effective Wear Black Diet! :D
Diets don't work.
Just stick tape over your mouth if you need these "diets", for goodness sake.
Five months ago I attended my brothers wedding. It was the worst I ever have been to. All of my relatives give me the "speech" when it is your turn to get marry when I specific told them I'm single. They don't believe me and continue to ask me the same question over and over until they get the answer from me that they wanted to hear. This will drive anyone insane. Being emotionally distress, food was on my mind the whole day. Luckily, I was too busy helping out the bride and groom to eat.
@TakingxOverxMe@xanga - DIETING is pointless and futile, but saying that changing your eating habits won't work is wrong.
The wrong hand eating method didn't work for me, not even with chopsticks. :| It became a game, a game I won!
youre at a wedding. just relax and have fun. you can worry about your waistline every other day of the week!!!
I definitely think that holding something in one hand would work... because then you can't have like a mini plate of desserts and a mini plate of regular stuff. Also, you can't hold a drink as well as food... which is where a lot of empty calories come from.
I guess with anything, stick with stuff you could guesstimate calories on... veggies, fruits, crackers and cheese. That kind of stuff you can eat at home too, as opposed to some of the fancier you see out there. Also, anything heated (meatballs) are guaranteed to have a A LOT of sodium in them... stay away!
I basically use will power over the situation. After lunch the other day there were cookies that someone had bought at the bake sale. Everyone ate some but me. I wanted them, yes. But I was too full, and didn't NEED them. Later in the day however, I decided, that I wanted one, and ate, only one. It works for me.
I don't know if I'd actually try any of those things, but I guess eating with the wrong hand makes sense. If you're not used to it, it's not a natural movement and you have the time to stop and think. I might try eating with my left hand, I dunno. I don't think anything else would really help me.
hahaha. i like the wrong hand diet. it sounds like a fun thign to try XD
