How To Get Rid of a Hangover
Sunday is usually my day to rid my body of the alcoholic toxins I've exposed it to throughout the weekend. I typically spend 30-40 minutes sweating on the treadmill along with drinking many, many glasses of water and orange juice.
Running really makes me feel better after a night of partying. Sweating out all that crud really refreshes me. A lot of people tend to sleep off their hangover, but I like to speed up the process by getting my butt on the treadmill.
I've never tried a hangover pill but would definitely be willing to give it a whirl.
What’s the best way to get rid of a hangover? How do you rid yourself of a hangover? Do you have a routine?

I avoid them!!
Drinking that much never leads to anything good anyway!
Gatorade AM. I can't say it enough. It rehydrates (which is the best thing you can do) and because it's made with the way you feel about food in the morning in mind, the flavors are really light and not likely to make you feel nauseous.
haha i dont drinK :P thats how i avoid it...
smoothies.. i dunno why but they work wonders for me!
i rarely drink and if i do, coffee helps.
I would have too much of a headache to run in the morning.
For me, SLEEP...
then, EAT some noodle soup like Pho, Udon or any Korean soup.
But there is no real cure...it's only the time that passes during the day that really helps.
I go running also!
My friends think I'm weird because I go running after a long night of drinking. You sweat and feel so much better! So exercise and WATER!!!
Sleeping makes my headache linger all day...
When I drink (that is if I don't drink too much) I make sure to down a glass or two of water before bed. The next morning I feel little or no hangover. Most times, I am to intoxicated to remember this tidbit!
I run or rollerblade. After I sweat and drink water I feel better
I don't get hangovers haha
My friends have told me sleep works for them.
Lots of water...Gatorade, too. I've heard green tea is supposed to work well, but I've never tried it.
Honestly, though, the best hangover cure was when I'd signed up to do a charity run/walk with my mom, aunt, and cousin. I'd gone out a little too much the night before. Starting the walk was painful and I felt like death on legs, but half an hour in and I felt WONDERFUL. Just work the toxins out!
I'm all about the prairie oyster. In fact, I SWEAR by it.
Separate a yolk of an egg from the white and put the yolk in a glass. Add around two tablespoons of water, a teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper.
Plug nose and ingest. It NEVER fails. It doesn't taste so hot, and it doesn't feel so great going down, but I still suggest to try it before you knock it!
(PS. It's endorsed by all my Irish family members :P)
Don't drink. It's as easy as that.
If you're getting so drunk that you end up with a hangover every Sunday, feeling better in the short term is going to be the least of your worries. I can hear your poor liver screaming from here.
lots of water, easy foods like bread, things that soak. a hot shower. and actually getting up and doing something usually helps.
sounds like you have a good system!
@listen_to_The_Pixies@xanga - Agreed.
Ibuprofin, and water/gatorade. A multi vitamin probably wouldn't hurt either.
Before I go to bed, if I'm puke drunk or whatever, I'll try to get as much fluids in me as possible.
If I'm only moderately drunk, milk is my favorite. Don't know why, but it seems to really help me the next morning.
I do workout in the morning usually anyway, so I've had a few hungover workouts. You get through it and I usually feel better afterwords somehow. During sucks, but after isn't bad. Just drink plenty of fluids.
@irishgrrl690@xanga - That soudns disgusting, but I got really drunk one time and did something along the lines of cracking an entire carton of eggs and just pouring them down my throat one at a time. Something about a male to male challenge haha.
Didn't taste bad really, just had an odd, slimy, cold texture. Don't know how my hangover the next day was or not... I don't remember haha.
@Reko34@xanga - Well, what you did could have given you AWFUL salmonella lol. I would avoid that in the future XP
I think the nastiness is payback for being stupid enough to get a hangover in the first place. Maybe, it will be SO DISGUSTING (but so effective) that you'll avoid the situation entirely?
Eating poutine. I don't drink often, so I usually designate the whole weekend junk food weekend, because I crave it when I'm drinking.
Poutine's tasty, and it seems to suck up any left over alcohol residue. Okay, well, maybe I just look for excuses to eat poutine.
You know what.. i know it sucks when you are dirnking but drink at least a half a cup of water between drinks, whether its shots, beers, mixes anything, that should help, then just relax and sip on some tea or water. take a hot shower...
HOT YOGA + WATER + alil SALT (So u keep ur body water PH balanced)
I have found that the best solution is to drink Gatorade before bed. It's like pre-emptive non-aggressive hangover fighting awesomeness. If I can't get myself to drink it before I go to bed, I do it as soon as I wake up. It's the best thing I've found in my limited experience.
Vitamin B12 dudes.
Get a little bottle of them from your local store.
Nooooo hangovers after that.
Or just eat something with tomatoes in it.
(I'm Irish too)
I eat a slice of plain toast when I get in after a night out, with some green tea- it makes the hangover better....the morning after I usually get up relatively early, do some pilates, have some fruit and wash my hair and teeth- it makes you feel so clean and energized.
For the very worst hangover there is only one cure.
Hot, milky tea in a big mug with 2 sugars. And a slice of barely toasted bread, with a tiny amount of butter on it, and let it go cold before you eat it. Works every time.
i used to do the same, get up and then go running or lift weights. I always found it easier to get over a hangover. Of course after working out and eating, I took a nap
