Breakfast fills your "empty tank" to get you going after a long night without food. And it can help you do better in school. Easy to prepare breakfasts include cold cereal with fruit and low-fat milk, whole-wheat toast with peanut butter, yogurt with fruit, whole-grain waffles or even last night's pizza!
2 .Get Moving!
It's easy to fit physical activities into your daily routine. Walk, bike or jog to see friends. Take a 10-minute activity break every hour while you read, do homework or watch TV. Climb stairs instead of taking an escalator or elevator. Try to do these things for a total of 30 minutes every day.
3. Snack Smart.
Snacks are a great way to refuel. Choose snacks from different food groups—a glass of low-fat milk and a few graham crackers, an apple or celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins, or some dry cereal. If you eat smart at other meals, cookies, chips and candy are OK for occasional snacking.
4. Work up a sweat.
Vigorous work-outs—when you're breathing hard and sweating—help your heart pump better, give you more energy and help you look and feel your best. Start with a warm-up that stretches your muscles. Include 20 minutes of aerobic activity, such as running, jogging or dancing. Follow-up with activities that help make you stronger such as push-ups or lifting weights. Then cool-down with more stretching and deep breathing.
5. Balance your food choices—don't eat too much of one thing.
You don't have to give up foods like hamburgers, french fries and ice cream to eat healthfully. You just have to be smart about how often and how much of them you eat. Your body needs nutrients like protein, carbohydrates, fat and many different vitamins and minerals such as vitamins C and A, iron and calcium from a variety of foods. Balancing food choices from the Food Guide Pyramid and checking out the Nutrition Facts Panel on food labels will help you to get all these nutrients.
Do you follow any of these tips? Is there anything you need to incorporate?

breakfast is the most important meal of the day. i always make sure that i get in breakfast! well balanced meals are a great part of any plan. including workouts is awesome too, weight training is great for helping to re-shape the body! awesome post today.
The mistake I always used to make when I was younger was NOT eating breakfast. I still make that mistake occasionally, but not as much.
I've always heard that it is best to have breakfast as your biggest meal of the day.
I always drink a glass or two of water in the morning before I eat anything to re-hydrate myself.
I try to get in a balanced breakfast, but it usually ends up being instant noodles... or something...
I suppose I got a lot of "2. Get moving" in the summer because I lost 10 pounds without even trying. I was working a full time job, a part time job and some extracurricular activities on top... And neither of the paid jobs involved sitting. They were a chocolate factory and a bakery. It was magical.
Not a very good way of losing weight, but I suppose it works. I just have to make sure I eat healthy and get enough sleep.
In the morning if I dont have time to eat or I just dont feel like it, then I mix 8 oz's of water with a scoop of Whey Protien. You can get it at GNC. It is healthy, has amino acids and protien.
I also work out almost everyday and IMMEDIATELY after my workout I drink another one. Its healthy and helps you get and maintain lean muscle.
Drink water. Drink water. And drink water.
smart food choices! dont be fooled by labeling. actually take the time to read the nutrition facts!
Fact is that though most people realize this, they still lack the fortitude to follow through with such a simple idea. I like the science behind nutrition science and healthy living; either don't eat it and deal with it, or eat it and burn it. I'd say go for a more aggressive style rather than trying to maintain some fictitious idea of what your optimal health is. Work to incorporate physical exercise in 4-5 days a week for an hour or more to build a better body that you can be content with. Don't try to be Mr/Mrs Universe in a day, but you know, keep on trucking towards physical prowess.
i can't.. stop eating.. cuppycakes.
so weird i do all of these things but i don't even notice.
Try incorporating into #3+5
Don't scrape your plate clean - if there's a little extra sauce or crumbs. I know, normally, we want to make our plates clean or try to finish, but it adds up and slowly you will start eating less.
If you have a little crust, don't bother, and a big one to do is cutting the fat and skins off your meats.
If you want to go a little more hardcore - get heavy papertowl and soak up grease from foods - i.e. pizza. Yes, people look at you wierd, but when you pull that papertowl off... you will realize how much crap is in that stuff.
i need to start eating breakfast. i've skipped eating breakfast for as long as i remember!
I follow almost all of those rules and it works for me. When I began really buckling down and focusing on my diet aka healthy eating, I found that I was nore energetic and lost almost 10 lbs in less than 2 1/2 weeks. This is a good list to follow...
yes, my problem is consistency. my meal times and exercise routines vary too much...i need to get into regular schedules, i think...instead of sporadic!
Got 1 & 2 down...Now to work on the rest...
