vitamins definitely. and whole-grain rice (not too much though).
Wheat Bread...yum. Okay, some can be really expensive though...but not plain ol' wheat bread...and Cheerios! Heck yeah!
yams
black beans
white or brown rice
all cheap & good
as far as veggies go, you can't beat cabbage. I get it for 49 cents/lb and a head of it lasts me for like 2 weeks.
Chickpeas and beans of any sort (very filling and good for you)
beans & brown rice are good, and you can flavor it with garlic, a bulb is like 60 cents, lasts a while. a whole meal for a few people for only like $2.50
find a Trader Joe's near you and you can find all sorts of healthy foods for less.
water
soymilk, whole grain breads.
Hummus is the best!! LOVE it.
dry beans!
soo cheap. like a dollar for a whole bag and they last a really long time. They are filling! They have no fat, and mke you poop.
best health food ever and are so cheap. (I like chickpeas/garbonzo beans the best.)
hummus and crackers! lol
milkshakes.
full of protein.
You can get a nice-sized sack of dried beans for under $2. Same thing goes for rice.
Beans are probably one of the best and cheapest healthy foods. Just make sure you prepare them properly, or you could end up with nasty gas.
fruits and vegetables aren't inexpensive. um.... cereal. almost all cereal is healthy and you don't have to just eat organic crap. i love cereal.
@Dieting_CoEd@xanga - wow you're a dimwit. apparently starving yourself has affected your brain cells. water isn't a food.
i love 12 grains breads and they are not expensive.
Whole uncooked grains (qinuoa, bulgur, barley, whole oats). Cheap cheap cheap - uncooked, they'll keep in your freezer nearly forever; cooked, they're very filling!
Dried beans are also very cheap.
Fruits and veggies are really only cheap when they're in season - just keep that in mind!
Granola is pretty expensive and healthy. It has a lot of fiber, which definitely helps your digestive system. [:
Nuts, beans, as others have said...granola, wheat bread...
uhhh...food you grow yourself, lol.
@Annalyn04@xanga - hummus is yummus :P
i take flax seed oil pills to make sure i get my omega 3s when fish is not an option. less than $5 a month for three pills a day. it makes your face look amazing and it really increases your health. pretty good deal.
Oatmeal all the way!
almonds :)
they're tasty, and if you eat about a dozen a day, they're a great source of protein and fiber. Â they also come in lots of delicious flavors!
