  • A Healthy & Fit 73 Year-Old Man Makes College Basketball Team

      Mr. Cheeseburger

I couldn’t believe it when I heard.  “A 73 year-old man was playing for a college basketball team”. So I had to check it out.

I saw some videos of Ken Minks, Roane State Community College, on YouTube and was shocked.  The man was playing basketball at the age of 73 with young college kids.

A few weeks ago he was on Conan O’Brien talking about his journey back to playing basketball.  He is the oldest man to ever make a basketball team and the oldest to ever score in a college game.

I think this is a testament to living a healthy lifestyle.  I see 20 something year olds who can barely run or jump and here’s a 73 year-old who's stayed in shape and survived six weeks of basketball practice to make his college team.

When I’m that old, I’ll be happy if I can walk around let alone shoot hoops.  It’s an amazing story.

Do you think it’s a testament to healthy living or someone that's been lucky?  When you’re as old as Ken Minks, wouldn’t you love to be that active?  Why or why not?
