I think there may be new ways to treat it,bit as far as a cure...I am not sure . I mean there are still cancers and other diseases that have not been cured,so I am kinda not looking at a cure for AIDS any time soon.

I think we're a long way away from the cure. And I don't believe we'll ever get a handle on AIDs itself until we start comprehensive education. That means both sexual and disease prevention. Not just handing people a bible and telling them that if they're good and follow Jesus then he won't give them any ouchies.

I think we aren't going to see a cure anytime soon, but I'd like to believe it's possible.  Scientists have come so far in medicine, that I think eventually they will find something.  Until then it's up to people to be smart about protecting themselves against it.

We (as a people) are powerless against HIV/AIDS. It is up to individuals to educate themselves and act responsibly.

There are many people that still believe that HIV/AIDS only affects gay men and IV drug users. That is certainly not the case.

"Thinking "it will never happen to me" is not a defense against this virus.
Most of us are guilty of those thoughts at least from time to time. At
one time, I thought that as well and I was wrong.

oh yes, there is an AIDS awareness talk organised in my workplace, to allow my officers to understand what it is and how it is transmitted, all those virus before a full blown AIDS.

from what i learnt that day, the virus, ....uhm... we have vaccines or something that could delay the formation of AIDS cells but it isnt a cure. i managed a HIV Positive full blown AIDS patient before. I saw everything that were different from a normal healthy person.

their looks, emotions, food intake, ...basically her immune system was totally haphazard. i wished she could be deported back to her homeland before she gives her last breath, and my wish for her came true.

My biology teacher was talking about this..
There are two kinds of aids one in america and one in the third world countries
Scientists made a cocktail (medicine) only to help the aids present in america
and this was a HUGE issue.. not sure why it's not now?
But it's obviously about money.. because all the research and whatnot that goes into it costs LOTS and obviously americans (not all) can afford it compared to the people in the third world countries..
Everyone is so crooked in america and everyone is about money and power

My boyfriends teacher told him the government actually has a form of aids that is airborne

A cure is DEFINITELY in the works.
    Good topic.

I believe that people are working to make AIDS non existent.

Maybe.  There's already so many ways to treat it and help people live longer lives.

I want to be optimistic and say yes so ...yes, there will eventually be a cure

however, for now, I think people need to raise more awareness-- i barely had any idea this was National AIDS Awareness month!

I think that by hitting the youth population with awareness about the disease, it will prove to be more effective in preventing it

    I believe nothing is impossible.

Realistically, I don't think there will ever be a cure.  The AIDS virus mutates too often, so it's difficult to make a vaccine because of that.

Not only that, but they still don't know where AIDS originated from it, or what the host is that originally carried it--if they could find that, there would be a pretty decent chance of getting a vaccine made (because hosts are usually carriers of the virus, but the virus doesn't usually affect them) but until they find out where the virus originated from, I doubt there will be a cure.

But it's pretty easy not to get AIDS.  Don't do drugs with needles, and don't have sex with a lot of people.  If you and your partner (whether gay or straight) are monogamous, and you don't do intravenous drugs, there's a pretty good chance that you'll never get AIDS.

Condoms!!!!!!!! Third world countries need to be give free condoms and taught about STDs and birth control. This could help control the spread of disease and maybe also impact child poverty The leaders of these countries need to wake up and start teaching about birth control and disease spread by unprotected sex and the churches need to wake up and get on board as they are not helping these people they are just dragging them into an early grave. In most other countries it is just ignorance if you love someone enough to have unprotected sex go get tested together and wait for the results if one of the parties has a problem with getting tested this person also wouldn't have a problem of putting a gun to your head. RUN away. I know sex is not the only way it is spread but safe sex would go a long way in the control.

  • AnchorsAwayx@xanga

of corse there will be a cure someday. but diseases evolve and new ones come out all the time, so we will always be fighting something.

  • NightCometh@xanga

If people would stop spreading it around, it would be a great first step.
