Guest blog by shut_UP_and_KISS_meWe pump our bodies with junk (delicious junk, but junk nonetheless) everyday. I can tell you that in the past 24 hours, I've had: 1 slice of dutch apple pie Ă la mode, four strips of thick greasy bacon, two eggs, two pieces of wheat toast covered with jam, spaghetti with meat sauce and sicilian meatballs, strawberry Italian cream soda, salad with balsamic vinaigrette, two pieces of sourdough bread lathered in garlic butter, ice cream, and two mixed drinks- Midori Sweet, my drink of choice.
Not all bad, but after all that sugar, oil and alcohol, I end up feeling
clogged. I'm not going to lie, I love food and I love all sorts of food, healthy to unhealthy to definitely unhealthy, but many times I come home feeling like crap.
So I started drinking
green tea after meals once I found out that it aids digestion. However, I've learned that there's more benefits than just that!
- It's better for you than coffee. Less sugar, less cream, less calories.
- It revives skin! Put cold, wet green tea bags on the delicate skin under your eyes- the caffeine in it helps your skin tighten up and brighten up.
- Green tea will keep your breath fresh. Ever wonder why they serve green tea or jasmine tea at Chinese and Japanese restaurants? It cleans out your mouth. And it has fluoride in it, which is great for teeth and gums.
- If you've fried your skin out in the sun trying to get that perfect sun-kissed tan, you can spray some cool green tea on it. Not only is it naturally soothing, it has protective elements against sun damage from UVA & UVB rays.
- Again with the digestion- it improves metabolic rates and fat metabolism.
- It's packed with antioxidants and minerals.
- It gives your body a boost- not just your immune system, but mentally as well.
With all these reasons, it's hard to not love it. It tastes great, it's perfect for this cold weather, and you're doing your body a favor.
Do you drink green tea regularly after meals? If not, how do you cleanse your body of the foods you ate through out the day? If you haven't tried green tea, try it out and let me know what you think!

I drink it at least once a day, lately more like 3 or 4 times since it's cold out. I usually use the same tea bag twice since there's still a lot of flavor in it, and also to save a little money, lol.
I think it tastes awful but sometimes I still have it as a good alternative. What's wrong with wheat toast and jam, by the way?
i drink green tea in the morning. =) i din't know about putting the teabags under your eyes. i'm going to try that this week. i was told to wash my face with green tea.
I love my green tea with mint, and a slice of lemon. I drink atleast a cup or two a day :]
I drink green tea quite frequently. if i get sick, i drink immense amounts of it to soothe my throat and open up my sinuses.
i love tea. however, i drink british tea...tastes like crap if you don't add evaporated milk and sugar to it, but then it is just wonderful.
the evaporated milk (which is whole milk; skim evaporated milk is repulsive) and sugar obviously aren't the healthiest.
i'm going to try my hardest to replace my tea with green or white tea, since i know how much better it is for you...but it'll be sad. i've been drinking my tea since i was two. =[
i love green teaaa, didn't know about all the benefits.. just that it tastes really good.
Green tea is lovely!
Now you've made me want some green tea...down to the kitchen I go :)
I love green tea! It soothes a sore throat when it's mixed with honey, as well.
2-5 cups a day. But not for health reasons. I think it tastes good, and when 40 bags are $6, it sure beats the price of coke.
thanks! i'm going to try it.
@laytexduckie@xanga - Sorry for the side question, but you seem to really know what you're talking about. I'm wondering if you might know a tea that leaves a sweet, flowery aftertaste? A restaurant in China served it to me, and I haven't been able to find anything like ti since.
Thanks for sharing the tips on white tea!
@Sage_and_Citrus@xanga - Some teas that come straight to mind is their dandelion tea, most often served in Chinese restaurants. Another one is the chrysanthemum tea, which is slightly sweeter than the dandelion tea. Both have a rich floral taste.
Take a look at those first and see if they are the ones. If not, you can also try some jasmine teas, blooming teas (which are often white teas), and some oolong teas (that can be have a flowery taste).
Green tea is so yummy! i stopped drinking sodas, and coffee and switched over to green tea.
for the past 3 weeks i have been drinking 2-3 cups daily...i cant say i have felt any of the benefits quite yet though..
My personal favorite is Oolong...it curbs appetite and boosts metabolism, and gives you a nice caffeine jolt while your at it. I also love the taste. Green tea is also great, too. However, I hope you aren't using tea bags. Green tea that comes in bags is usually cooked in some way, which can remove some of the helpful chemicals. Also, some green teas will become more bitter when put into tea bags b/c of the grinding process - think about coffees. If you don't grind them correctly, they taste bad. Same with teas. I know of many people that were turned off of green tea because the stuff from the bags was nasty. Then, I opened their eyes to green tea made with tea leaves. Its much better tasting, and its much better for you. Use leaves, never bags.
I actually really, really enjoy Rooibos tea.

A cup of tea seems to solve everything!
i loveee green tea :]
I love it! I drink it 2-3 times a day. In fact, I just answered one of the featured questions on whether I prefer tea or coffee and why. Obviously, I answer tea! XD
Gotta love that green tea.
You ate all that in 24 hours? You wouldnt have to drink so much tea if you didnt eat so much fatty.
