  • The Best Frozen Dinner Out There

      Mr. Cheeseburger

The last few nights instead of going out, I’ve resorted to eating frozen dinners, these was a popular thing when I was in college but haven’t had any in a while.

I chose to get the Bertolli frozen dinners after seeing their ads on TV.  I figured it would be something different considering I haven’t dined out in some time.

I bought two boxes of the Chicken Parmigiana and Penne.  They didn’t take too long to make and honestly couldn’t really tell the difference whether or not they were frozen or cooked.

This was completely different compared to the frozen dinners I ate in college.  The two brands I ate the most, Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine, weren’t bad but didn’t taste as good.

The meat always felt choppy, the pasta wasn’t cooked right and don’t even get me started on the mashed potatoes.

Have you ever tried the Bertolli frozen dinners?  If not, what is the most common frozen dinner you eat? Do you even eat frozen dinners?

I do, usually at work in order to keep from buying the ready-to-eat hot foods which are not healthy in the least. My favourite is Smart Ones Three Cheese Ziti Marinara. I'm not a big fan of most frozen dinners but that one is actually REALLY good.

I REALLY like a lot of Kashi frozen dinners..

lean cuisine sucks big time.. especially the ravioli.

I cannot stand frozen dinners....  I can cook better than they can, and it'd be cheaper and probably healthier too.  Homemade (not boxed...) mashed potatoes are fantastic.  Almost any pasta is so quick and easy to make.  And meat really isn't that difficult.

Frozen dinners were definitely a staple in college. I used to like the Lean Cuisines, some of them were really good, but others were lacking. Their paninis are pretty good i think, but they can be hard to eat.

I only eat frozen dinners occasionally. Being the little pig I am I can eat even the cheapest stuff (saving money tastes good), provided that it doesn't simply taste bad. If I was at school and didn't want to eat at one of the fast food places at the student union, I'd just go get Hot Pockets or LeanCuisine. The brand doesn't really matter to me.

Between college full time and work sometimes I don't feel like cooking and I have found a couple frozen options that aren't that bad.  I never liked healthy choice in the past but a couple months ago there was a sale on these new complete meals by healthy choice, which even included a dessert.  They don't taste like home cooking, but they definitely aren't bad, especially compared to other TV dinners.  Another frozen meal that isn't bad is the Voila.  My boyfriend loves the Chicken Alfredo version even more then his moms.  So far we've tried the Alfredo, garlic chicken, beef, and cheese chicken.  Out of them the only one that was a little weird was the cheese chicken one.  They are supposed to have 4 servings and at target you can buy them for $3.79.  All you have to do is dump the bag of everything and the sauce into a pan and cook for 8-10 min.  Then its yummy time!

I've tried a couple Lean Cuisine one's and they were terrible. I might try Bertolli.

I don't really eat the actual 'dinners', but I love like the pizzas, paninis and flatbreads from various brands like lean cuisine, healthy choices, stouffer's, etc.  On a night when I'm on the run they're quick and easy to eat, and I find most them pretty tasty (I'm a picky eater, so there are some ingredients in them that I wouldn't eat either way.)

I never eat frozen dinners.  They usually taste like soggy cardboard (probably from sitting in the box for so long).

  • youngvan@xanga

Haha. They're usually pretty gross. Only my brother eats them. I'd prefer a cup of ramen noodle over frozen tv dinner. But I just might try Bertolli :)

I like Michelinas .They're usually cheap. But tastes yummy. The pasta is nice and creamy.

How many calories are in the Bertolli dinners?  I eat the Weight Watchers Smart Ones on occasion, with my favorite being the Thai-style chicken with rice noodles, but I try not to eat them too often due to the high sodium content.

The best frozen dinners I've had by far are the ones by the brand tabatchnick. They're all natural, no preservatives or mystery meat, low calorie, inexpensive and delicious. Macaroni and cheese that's only 250 calories and won't kill me? Yes, please!

  • phuck_diz_shiz@xanga

    michelina frozen dinners :)

  • kiwi_greenie@xanga

fact: frozen dinners are packed with additives and saturated and trans fats and will slowly and surely kill you.
i wouldn't touch them, let alone ingest them, and i'd advise u to do the same.

We rarely, if ever, eat frozen TV dinners.  The only thing that comes close are the DiGiorno pizzas.  When we DO eat pizza, which isn't very often, I buy DiGiorno and bake them myself.  It's less expensive than ordering out and tastes much better, too!

Lean cuisines.  I have them 3-4 times a week, sometimes more.  They are very quick, and perfect to bring to work.

I'm all about Amy's and the vegan Kashi dinners.

  • pinkcandles@xanga

I never eat frozen dinners. They are one of the most unhealthy thing you could eat, not to mention how bad they taste. Have you have checked the amount of salt in the frozen dinners?
