Heathkicker has gotten a lot of comments on the post about the
women who claims to have a 12 year old McDonald's burger. Some commenters don't believe it's possible to have a burger in that condition after 12 years.
Well Healthkicker is on it. Tomorrow afternoon we'll go buy two burgers from McDonalds and try an experiment. We'll have pictures of the burgers after getting them from
McDonald's.
We'll leave one of the burgers in the open, in a container with holes and see how long it takes before it goes bad (Hopefully not 12 years, I'm praying not 12 years) and the 2nd burger will be left in the fridge, to make it stay "fresh" for a longer period of time.
We'll keep an eye on them and if the burgers start to smell weird or start developing mold, we'll take some pictures and post them for our audience, before gobbling them up... ONLY KIDDING! We will not do such a thing.
So, you asked for an experiment and
Healthkicker will deliver with its first scientific experiment. Wish us luck our and pray the office doesn't get smelly or anything like that. Update Soon.
Are you looking forward to our little experiment? Because we're excited

. How long do you think the burgers will last before getting moldy?

I think it depends on different conditions like the temperature and humidity. If it's kept in a hot, moist place it's more likely to grow mold. I think it will last a long time.
@you_were_the_song_all_along@xanga - our office tends to get hot from time to time. Other days it's really cool, so I guess we'll fall in room temperature on average?
@kash - haha yeah. you should be good.
I don't think the burgers will get moldy. The one in the fridge might, b/c of moisture, but the one exposed to air will not. My friend was super messy, and never cleaned his car. One day he did, after like a year, and found a half-eaten McDonald's burger. It was hard, but no mold or any other signs of deterioration.
Hm, they probably put less preservatives in food these days to come off as "healthier" so I'll guess 4 years. ;)
MAN I LOVE MCD :)
Reading the post about the 12 years old burger
Made me went to get a double cheeseburger today :)
& good luck with your experiment - take some nice moldy pics for us
Should get mouldy within a week or two... bread is uber nutritious and is only gonna get festered by bacteria floating in the air. The one in the fridge should last a heck of a length I'm assuming though. I'm guessing you only need two days of about 29 degreeish temperature and you'll see some results.
i think the bun will mold after a while, and any lettuce or something will get rancid. but the meat and fries on the other hand...wouldn't look any different.
didn't they do this in super-size me? which made me never want to eat mcdonald's again, but i'm pretty sure i ate there within a few days after watching it.
@kash - Thanks for the t-shirt and postcard by the way!
@quiet_strength@revelife - that's cool with me as long as I can prove that woman wrong. I gave in and had a burger a few weeks ago, and I want to make sure it won't be in my stomach for 12 years. haha That woman needs to be proven wrong! for my sake at least
@wherethefishlives@xanga - haha you got it man no problem, and yeah they did do this on Super size me, the fries freaked me out, but maybe this will help you stay away from McDonalds for a few more days
I guess. These experiments are way overdone... supersize me, that 12 year burger lady...
Those things are so loaded with preservatives and other horrid stuff, you'll probably out last the 12 year old burger, being it was 12 years ago.. they probably add more crap to them now.
@wherethefishlives@xanga - I think I went a good month without fast food after seeing that movie. (It just dawned on me that I can't remember the last time I had fast food.)
@Annalyn04@xanga - That's gross. x__x
It really depends on what it's made of and what conditions it's left in.
If it's not put in the fridge it'll last longer.
If it's made of real food (no preservatives, not processed)...then it won't last as long either.
I'll say five days to ten.
:O This is very cool, I like the idea of Healthkicker experiments!
I'm guessing 3 - 5 years for the one on the counter. >.>
