  • Which Contact Lens Brand is the Best?

I have always worn Acuvue Daily contacts, but I was at the optometrist's recently, and my doctor recommended "Clear Comfort Daily" contacts.

I asked my friends what they used. One friend used Acuvue as well. Another friend used Encore contact lenses. Another opted for Freshlook.

Acuvue lenses are okay, but my eyes sometimes get dry (though I use the moist ones pictured above).

Does anyone have any recommendations? Which contact lens brand do you use?

If you've never had a problem with Acuvue contacts, I say you stick with that brand. What is the reason for your doctor suggesting Clear Comfort Dailies?

I use Freshlook colorblends. I love colored contacts, but I think they're more uncomfortable than clear contacts. For clear contact lenses, I've used Acuvue Daily, Acuvue Moist and Acuvue Oasys. They all seem to do wonders 'cuz I can't even feel them in my eyes :).

hmm, all of my friends and i we use acuvue... i i don't know any other brands better than that. i like colored contacts too but it does irritate my eyes.

i use bausch & lomb purevision. i have the 'toric' kind for my astigmatism. it makes it so my eyes don't wear out from wearing the contacts, from what my doctor told me.

i think that using eye drops might be cheaper than switching to a more expensive brand of contacts, if that is your problem. of course, it's not as convenient.

Contacts cannot really be recommended.  Everyone's eyes are different and your body adjusts to them differently.  Because if Acuvues are confortable to you it doesn't mean its going to be comfortable to you friend.   Thats the reason why doctors examine you and theres an extra charge for contact evaluation.  Because the doctors know which kind would fit your eye curvature, which modulus ( materials flexibility ) best first your eye, and the amount of water level needed for your eyes.  Because of the thickness of peoples cornea it really depends which lens is comfortable for whom.  Bausch & lomb is usually thicker and has a higher modulus than Acuvue.

The reason color contacts are not as comfortable is because they have two or more layers because of the color.  Therefore making it harder for your eyes to breathe and less oxygen reach your eyes.

On the other hand, Acuvue Oasys is one of the most comfortable lens out there right now.  I worked at a optometry and this was the most wanted contacts.

Also if you have light astigmatism and don't want to pay for astigmatism lens, you should go for a lens that is aspheric meaning the sides of the lens is thinner making it focus more and become clearer.  Popular brands are Hydroflex Asperic (recommended for those that do not have dry eyes) and Avaira (this one is trying to compete with Acuvue Oasys)

i wear acuvue... i think it's the best. worn them since 5th grade ('m a freshman in college) and they're great

i use acuvue too, but i use the ones that you throw away after every two weeks.   I like them.  they're comfortable.

I used to use B&L but my brother was using acuvue 2's and like them so I decided to try them since there was like a $30 price difference.  I've been using them for over a year and they are nice.  I kind of want to try the oasys ones as my eyes get kind of dry (even when I had the B&L ones) but I'm to cheap to pay for another exam.

i use focus monthly... have been using it for almost 6 years. i guess it really depends on your eyes, like for myself i feel acuvue aren't comforable unlike many people. so why don't you get some trial ones and see if you like them or not, i think they are usually free.

Acuvue is great, I hv worn them for 7 years.I tried B & L for 3 mths but it not that fit. It should be better if u wear less than 8 hours per day.

There's no such thing as "the best," it's what fits YOU. For some, they need contacts that allow better oxygen flow for your eyes to feel refreshed, even if that is not the case for me. I know many who do need Acuvue hydraclear, while I stick with the ol' Acuvue 2 because I don't need the hydraclear.

I would agree with some of the comments.  First your lenses should fit which is something only you eye doctor can figure out...  There are some interesting new lenses to the US soon... Acuvue TruEye is one of them a daily silicone hydrogel...
    Hope this helps.

I end up going with the more expensive brands. And have gone to daily because my eyes also have a dryness problem. Also, I put eye drops in my eyes JUST before I put my contacts in. That helps for a bit.

I swear by Acuvee Oasys. I was on Acuve Advance for astigmitism, but then oasys came out with a toric and I got a free trial pair in my perscription because I was working at an Eye Care Center at the time... HUGE difference, I almost thought they werent in at first because I didn't feel a thing. If you accidently fall asleep with them in, it's not a big deal, they're approved for sleeping in for up to six consecutive nights, although you shouldnt purposley do it because they can dry out your eyes and cause infection. I also have dry eyes and the hyrdraclear helps a lot. These are two week lenses, not daily like the ones pictured, so it depends on you, but I would definetly recomend any Acuvue brand with hydraclear.

I've had the SAME PAIR of 2 week acuvue oasis' in for over six months.  i take them out every night.  they're still doin great.  ...2 weeks my foot.
