  • My Ode To Strippers

I've never been one to down strippers. As a matter of fact, I see why they might do it. Fast cash just for having a great shape and the ability to move your body.

Think, ladies (those ones who don't claim to be nuns or perfect June Cleavers) -- teasing men is a common talent for a lot of women, so why not get paid for it?

I'm thinking, man... if I were to lose this bit of baby weight, I'd be a freakin' stripper, too.

Instead of staying in school for years then trying to obtain a job in this economy... well, home depot might be laying off, but I doubt the strip clubs are.

On the other side, it might be hard to gain respect from your peers, but I say whatever because I'm not a woman who has a lot of girlfriends. I think it'd be great to get that money every night, being independent.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's the easiest thing in the world to do. I respect the ladies who put themselves on stage because it takes a lot of confidence to get up there.

How many women have problems with their body image? Their self-esteem? These chicks get up the pole and bust it wide open.

My point is, if I could make that choice, I would. Money is definitely on my mind, and that's one way of getting it. "She wanna be a stripper cause them girls get loot."

(Sorry to the women who might take this offensively!)

Would you ever consider stripping as an exercise? Are strippers more confident in themselves and their body than the everyday person?

Man, if I was desperate for money I'd strip. It'd be hard for me to do, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

  • kazzya@xanga

As harmless as it may seem, there is so much more to stripping than standing up and displaying your goods.

You are directly affecting the people who are watching you. How many marriages are destroyed or disrupted by simple acts like watching another woman dancing. If you even look at another woman covetously you are guilty of adultery.  Woman who strip just for money, should find other more innocent, and less degrading ways. Because whether or not you find it empowering or not, you are being judged and viewed as an object of pleasure.
  • greatsneha@xanga

No I think it's disgusting to sell your body for money. I don't want to be paid like an object; I want to be credible, earn a degree and make a smart living using my brain and not my body. It's so demeaning to be used as eye candy and then get paid for it - it's like prostitution. Diiiiisgusting.

  • Annalyn04@xanga

Seriously, I admire them a bit. They have a LOT of self-confidence to get up there and dance. I wouldn't want men gawking at me and trying to take advantage me, pepper spray would be a must!, but I love dancing, and I love feeling sexy. (Think the Pussy Cat Dolls.) It's great money, too. So, I don't know if I would ever do it, but I would definitely think about it.

It's crazy that you wrote this cuz I was honestly thinking about this right before I got online.

What's wrong with being a stripper?
Sure, guys are completely demeaning you, lowering you down to the level of just a sexual woman taking your clothes off for them.

But once again, they're the ones paying for it. So who wins?
Guy trying to see hot naked chicks?
Or hot naked chick, being hot and naked AND making money?

I think it has to do a lot with that demeaning bit. It embodies a lot that's wrong the male view towards women, and I think that I'd get disgusted by that fact somewhere down the line.

But, really, I can't say how a stripper must feel. Confident because she's sexy enough to have guys paying money to see her and because everyone probably wants her. But not, cuz that sexuality is all they see. But a lot about a woman's confidence has to do with how good she looks to herself and to other men, so I'd go ahead and assume that at the very least, strippers are very aware that they've got it goin on and there's no denying that, hah.

"Instead of staying in school for years then trying to obtain a job in
this economy... well, home depot might be laying off, but I doubt the
    strip clubs are."

And that is one reason I wonder what the human race has come to. Are we all just some mindless sex and lust addicts with absolutely no other intelligent thing to do? I wonder how much strippers get paid. If it's more than people like doctors or teachers I wouldn't be very happy.

There's my opinion about this, lol.

  • irresistible_shimmer@xanga

    I agree with you actually.
If I was in awesome shape and was attractive, and was able to move my body good enough...hell I'd be a stripper.

  • mrschacecrawford@xanga

I would strip in a heartbeat if I needed the cash.
Its kinda my goal to be a stripper at one time in my life...well see. :)

I definitely do respect them. And I hate when people put them down. I don't see why it should matter to other people. I personally think that the girls who put down strippers are just jealous, they know they will never look like that, move like that and hold attention over men like that.

  • happyjen85@xanga

not sure why this is a healthkicker post... but what the hell... i bartended in a dive with lots of strippers.  i came to find that though they were confident in teasing, seducing, etc., they were really insecure in the aspects of their life that really matter.  they couldn't get into a healthy relationship, and if they did, they'd cheat on their significant others every week.  their lives revolved around money, and most of them had a drug or alcohol habit.  i think i'd prefer my life.

  • abcxunt@xanga

because i'm not a fan of degradation.

and not all strippers have nice bodies, nice faces. people go because they know they can see the boobies they can't get.
  • Neurotically_Mine@xanga

Okay then become a stripper and see for yourself if you would like to stay in that business for long.

Not only is it a degrading job, but a lot of strippers are either drunk or high while they are stripping. But if you think being valued for only your body is such a glamorous job then go for it!

Self-confidence? High self-esteem? Women with these kind of qualities DO NOT go into stripping. How naiive are you? Seriously?

BTW - if you actually go into an actual strip bar.. half the girls there look like absolute shit (sorry if I offend any strippers). Most of them aren't even attractive.

  • kazzya@xanga

@yoshistar@xanga - i don't want to go against your comment, just kind of add to it. I think we actually have this image of strippers in a hollywood, glamour sense. Many of these strippers realistically are not all that confident. Some of them are even intoxicated while doing it, and can't stand being up there, but "have no other choice".

  • kazzya@xanga

    @Neurotically_Mine@xanga - WOAH.

we just wrote the exact same thing at the same time. im glad there's someone else that feels the same way.
  • Gilleis@xanga

I have nothing against strippers or stripping at all.  But as an alternative to education and real job?  Uh, no.  The whole thing is based on youth and once that's gone you need something to fall back on.  I also don't think your resume looks so hot if you're 35 and finally applying for the public accounting spot.  Just sayin'

  • BARIIIIIE@xanga

I think what strippers do is very self powering.  They have a lot of courage to get up and do that.  As long as they don't take their work and blend it when their lifestyle, I admire them.  The girls commenting on your blog hating, are just that - hating.  They're shit and ugly and are just mad their receptionists making a cool $7.50/hour.  GO STRIPPERS

  • yoshistar@xanga

@kazzya@xanga - Definitely right though. We all like to think of the strip clubs depicted on TV, which are usually more high class. But there are plenty of local strip clubs where the girls aren't that well-paid and the crowd aren't rich little businessmen. I think there's a lot more sleaze involved than people acknowledge and that's why I'd never do it. But for real, I'm sure there are also plenty of ladies who see it the opposite and if that's what they wanna do, then I guess I could see the reasoning a little bit.

@greatsneha@xanga - lol I read this article about how while the economy was suffering, the porn industry was very unlikely to take a hit (though didn't that Girls Gone Wild guy ask Congress for a bailout? lol) and I felt the same way. Is this what we've come to? That the sex industry is seriously one of the only possibly withstanding things that we can always rely on to be profitable? It;s so sad. Sex has way too much power in society. It hurts my soul a little, hah.

  • Neurotically_Mine@xanga

@kazzya@xanga - People have no idea what stripping is about and movies like Closer glamorize it to an extreme. Natalie Portman is beautiful and elegant, but HOW many girls look like her? How many of them work in a classy strip club? Strip clubs are not supposed to be classy anyway.

Imagine flashing your cooch to every man who desires it and you have no say in it. WOW that's the kind of job i want! Where do i sign up?

  • Neurotically_Mine@xanga

@BARIIIIIE@xanga - no one is hating sweetie.. we're just telling the truth.

  • mayanao@xanga
  • SugarBunnyLC@xanga

Speaking from experience as a stripper, it is amazing exercise. I got rid of my gym membership after I got my work schedule settled. My job often entails getting told I'm sexy and beautiful and cute and that my body is amazing for hours a day. It gives my self-esteem and ego a serious boost. I do feel more confident than the average person; more confident than I felt before I stripped.

  • BARIIIIIE@xanga

@Neurotically_Mine@xanga - No, you're not telling the truth. You're an ugly bitch who is hating.  Shut up.  You act like you know every single stripper in the world.  A lot of those girls are not only educated, but very smart and very responsible.  Are some girls fucked up?  YES.  Are some doctors/teachers/cashiers/golf pros/athletes/anybody else fucked up?  YES.  Are you fucked up? YES!  Leave people alone just because you're jealous.  Shut up.

  • PunkRockCowboy@xanga

Stripping privately for someone you love sounds like a better idea.  I would love for my future wife to do that.

  • r1bc4g3k1d@xanga

if i had bigger tits and was legal, i definitely would be one.

    ...haha. go implants i guess?
  • Neurotically_Mine@xanga

@BARIIIIIE@xanga - Yes I am jealous. LMAO.  Did i insult you? Did i call you an ugly slut and a whore? Why do you need to insult people on here for simply having an opinion?

It's girls like you who ARE really ugly with the worst personalities.

And I suppose you would know every single stripper in the whole world to speak for them? God people are incredibly delusional and moronic.

  • h0peLeSs_RoMaNtiC@xanga

I'd be a stripper. I'm not a druggie or uneducated so I hope I wouldn't be generalized that way.
