Question Of The Day:
Feeling good about yourself can stem from how you live. If your surroundings look like crap, chances are you're going to feel like crap.
I like to keep a clean room just so I can find things I'm looking for. Plus a cleaner room makes me feel better. Yeah it sounds strange but it is true.
Does your room look like this, messy with stuff all over the place?
or like this, tidy and neat?
or maybe even like this, mansion style room where everything magically becomes clean: (if your room looks like that, can I come live with you? pleasssseeee)
Does your surrounding affect your mood?

Yes!! It does!
the peeps in the room effect my mood more then the surrounding..
Shouldn't it be "Do your surroundings affect your mood?"
Yes, my surroundings do affect my mood. I have to be able to at least see outside or I go a little bit nuts. One whole wall in my room is windows and I keep them open year round. I require fresh air and sunshine to stay sane. I am also a bit of a neat freak so my room and my whole house is generally spotless....... ~Echo
Yes my surroundings affect my mood, a great deal. My room is atrocious and stuffy and yes, I HATE IT. But we are moving into a new room soon, and you better believe my room will be perfect.
Mine is about halfway between 1 and 2. :D
I have two toddlers, though.... I figure most of the time, it's a lost cause!
My surroundings DEFINITELY affect my mood.
In my old apartment I only had three windows and they all faced another apartment building (read: brick wall) that was about three feet away, and only one of my windows opened.
It was a studio apartment and my bed was about a foot away from the front door of my apartment, because there was no room.
And the building was full of disgusting people so there were always lots of cockroaches in my apartment,
which in turn made me get lazy and depressed and disgusting so then there were even more cockroaches.
And all of my plants died because there was no sunlight.
It was so depressing.
I moved into a different apartment and now I have about twice as much space, but what really makes me happy is the huge windows facing all directions so I always have sunlight and they open so I can get fresh air,
and I have four plants again and they make me so happy,
and I still have cockroaches even though I keep everything really clean,
but I mind them less now because everything else is clean and beautiful.
I don't need my surroundings to be perfect, I just need big windows and sunlight and plants I guess.
And my apartment is immaculately clean 95% of the time because now that I'm happier with the space I am much more productive in general.
Yes, part of my bedroom is quite untidy and the rest is tidy, it is mainly my shelves which are messy.
Yes! If my desk is cluttered and I'm trying to study, it makes me very anxious. And even little messes around my apartment (crumbs on the counter or stove) make me nervous also. I am somewhat of a neat-freak and I like to have everything clean & organized. It puts me in a much better mood!
My room was so clean a week or so ago before I started painting the walls; since then it's gotten down in the dumps. I need to clean it up again whether I'm through painting or not, because yes, my surroundings do affect my mood. The weather affects my mood, too.
ugh, YES!! I can't think in a messy room.
But I live in a dorm with two other girls who are SLOBS and I can't stand it!! Not only are they messy, sloppy, never pick up after themselves, but they are dirty too. Our sink gets disgusting from all the makeup and hair, they never do their assigned jobs of vacuuming and cleaning the floors, so there is just straight-up dirt everywhere. I do my best to keep up with it myself, but its hard!! I don't let my clothes or bare feet touch the floor. Only my shoes and dirty towels (which get bleached in the washer) are allowed to touch the floor. UGH!! I HATE iT!!
Indeed it does affect me. I have to keep things neat so I can find stuff. I do let things slide from time to time, but overall I like to keep it organized and clean. In fact, every few months I get sick of the arrangement of my room, so I rearrange.
That's just me, though.
when i read the title of this post, i thought it would be about weather. weather definitely affects my mood...but i don't think the decor of rooms really does. the amount of people or how loud a room is usually affects my mood, but cluttered or tidy, a room is a room.
Whoever lives in the 3rd room or one similar to that, give me a call. ;)
Yes.
@NightCometh@xanga - i was going to say the exact same thing.
but yes. cold ohio weather = bad mood.Â
yep. go take an environmental psychology class.
@NightCometh@xanga - YES IT SHOULD. don't people edit this stuff?
Sometimes it really does affect my mood.
My room isn't perfect like the bottom two pictures but it's not as messy as the top one either. Sort of in the middle :)
I believe it totally does! Having things not neat and tidy I believe makes people more stressed as they do see the different piles of mess around them.
my room looks like the first, but i wish it was more like the second :[
it totally does! if my room has some mess I have to clean it before I can get any work done
im more messy. but not THAT messy o _O
i was JUST thinking about this, right now my room looks like shit bc im sick and get really lazy when im sick
and my room being gross makes me more lazy
i find things affect my mood more. if something bad happened that day, i'll likely be in a bad/sad mood if i dont control it besides my room is always clean and organized so never needed to worry about that.
