Do You Go For Routine Check-ups?
I don't remember the last time I was at the doctor for a routine check-up. Sure, I've been to the doctor when I'm sick and need antibiotics, or if I have an injury... but I can't for the life of me think of when I was last seen for the regular height/weight/blood pressure/eye/throat/ears/nose check-up.
Do you go for your regular check-ups? If you don't, then why not?

Nope. I can't stand my doctor. His office and he himself have misdiagnosed 3 people in my family. Including me.
i'm too poor.
Yes, when I was younger I went every year because of my disability, I still go to get my blood pressure and urine sample.
Every couple of years I have a brain scan because of another condition I have.
I get a regular checkup every six months. My job requires it..... ~Echo
No, but I wish I did. Lack of insurance...sigh.
Nope because the doctor doesn't request one that often.
No, my doctor is retiring soon and I'm on the waiting list for another one.
No, because I don't have insurance or money.
Yes! I get one at least every four months. The status of our health insurance is a little iffy since my mother's job (where the insurance comes from) is at risk, but because it's been provided by the company, it's easy for us to get taken care of.
I've had really poor health in the past and I'm at risk for a few diseases so the checkups are pretty necessary so that I can keep track of them.
I think it's also good to keep a record of your health and your doctor can help you track patterns of health that you might otherwise miss.
Nope...costs too much
@abcxunt@xanga - Ah me too!
yeah. im insured so might as well take full advantage of it. i go in for pap smears, breast exams, physicals, etc. its good to be informed especially of your own health. if something bad happens, you could get it treated early before its too late.
YES, I absolutely have to! I have Crohn's Disease...and my case is fairly difficult to manage because I didn't have regular check-ups when I was a kid! We could have figured out that I was sick if I had just gone into the doctor regularly...so now I'm in at least every 8 weeks...which, of course, is extremely frequent but is kind of a necessity. :)
Moral of the story: Regular check-ups are good for you!
Every year since I got health insurance as an adult. I don't take them for granted.
i havn't been to the doctors since like 15 years ago
nope. no insurance.
Oh absolutely! Hmm, you definitely should be seeing a gyno yearly. You're a woman! You should know!!
Heck no. Waste of time and money. If I feel like there's something wrong with me, and it persists for over a week (usually I'll wait 2-3 weeks), I go to the doctor. But if you go into the doctor's office when there's nothing wrong with you, you leave with something wrong with you.
Ugh, I would, but my parents' insurance doesn't cover routine checkups. Just trouble and emergencies. It's too expensive to pay for it all myself.
