  • 10 Rules For Being Human

Here's a list I found while using Stumbleupon.  I thought it would be great for Healthkicker.

    10 Rules For Being Human
    • You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period
    • You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."
    • There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
    • Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
    • Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.
    • "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
    • Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
    • What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
    • Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
    • You will forget all this.
The rules talk a lot about learning and lessons.  Have you stopped learning?  What new lessons have you learned about yourself and life?

These rules were written by Cherie Carter-Scott

I like this...esp the lesson concept. That is what Hindus believe and I am a Hindu so I agree with you. Life is learning lessons..once your soul has learned the lessons it needs to, it can leave the Earth peacefully. I also believe in reincarnation so I say if your soul dies before learning your lessons or there are other lessons your soul needs to learn in another body then you reincarnate.

Once your soul is fully taught it disappears into bliss (:

Lol this should be in ReveLife, instead of HealthKicker

I've learned what it's like to be a mother and a wife. Reality set in a long time ago. I never stop learning, at least not when I have a little preemie and a military husband.

Life is full of learning and we learn a new lesson everyday. That's what usually makes life interesting.

One thing I have learned is to never say never and never say can't until you are actually faced with the situation and have given it an honest try.  I have found that usually when people say can't, what they really mean is won't.

Another one is that life is the hard teacher; it gives you the test before it gives you the lesson.

  • d0llh0use@xanga

i totally agree. life is about learning.

biggest thing i've learned about life is you shouldnt please other people or live for other people, you live for yourself.  other people arent living for you so why bother.  just one of my own life lessons/followings.

its hard sometimes but if you're strong than you make it.  what doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

I will TEND to forget all this.

Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate
something about another person unless it reflects to you something you
    love or hate about yourself.

I agree with this one the most, and it's probably the best life lesson I've learned yet.

  • der_lila_Stern@xanga

The last one - you will forget all this - is such a good point.

Fantastic entry, and so true.  Simple advice like this is the best.  The wisest give the most straightforward, no-nonsense advice.  Great job.

To the person who commented above, I am very glad this is not in Revelife.  It does not belong solely to Christians.  Everyone could learn from this.

i've learned to take the time to laugh things off. lifes too short! i just turned 21 last month and i know that in no time ill be 30. lol

There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial,
error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part
of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."

Unless you're a Christian.  Then your mistakes send you to hell for all eternity.  Learning is unimportant; failure is punishable by eternal torment.

I like the fact that these rules say nothing about sex. Yayy.

Personally I'm learning that I am a control freak, but it manifests in less obvious ways than trying to control other people, or my diet. Just a bunch of little things that altogether make people probably think I'm uptight.

And life is what you make it. You can be as bored or as busy as you like, you just have to decide how much or how little you want to dedicate yourself to. And you can choose to be happy or sad, or in any case optimistic or pessimistic, and that to be truly content you have to have the final word in how you're going to feel.

  • Parsimony@xanga

I've come across this but I'll still give you props for it.
