Safe Tanning Now Available Through Your Computer Screen!
Thanks to a new British website, people can now tan from their office cubicles!
With the new hightech electrical-to-UV ray conversion, the lights from your computer screen are now able to tan you while you play Solitare, make a spread sheet, or handle conference calls.
Okay, not really.
ComputerTan.com is a website sponsored by the Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Charity (Skcin), with the hopes that this brutally honest spoof website will help sun-hungry people understand just how severely damaging UV-rays can be.
After trying to obtain my own five minute free trial, I can only hope that their message reaches more people.
Check out the website to see exactly what I'm talking about (Click here to start your "free trial" - no downloading necessary.)
Do you think you practice safe sunbathing? Should more advertisements like this be made to make people aware of the consequences of their unhealthy habits (ie: smoking, tanning, drinking, etc...)?

This scares me...
Thats cool. Really.
I practice safe sun habits every single day. Just because there are better treatments from skin cancer, doesnt make it any better.
that's awesome.
tanning = cancer
............
I never go to a tanning salon anymore, even though I get really pasty in the winter. My best friend goes once a day and she's going to age really quickly.
I also don't want cancer or wrinkles! I'll put on self-tanner once in awhile or get a spray-tan. I wear sunblock a lot
Wtf I could have used a warning!! Gross nasty images on that site.
hahaa clever
haha welcome to the future!
whoa at first I was going to say WHAT?? that's cancer in your FACE!! there's no way UV rays can come out of your monitors! all these WoW-heads would be tanned by now.
then I finished reading and realized it's a site the offers information about the dangers of it.
I'm all for the self-tanners and products like Jergen's Natural Glow (or whatever it's called). I used to go to tanning beds all the time until I found a weird shaped mole. It's small and I had it checked out and it was not anything to be concerned with, but it freaked me out enough to where I have quit tanning in beds and now use sunscreen when I bathe in natural sunlight. I think it's been 3 years since I last laid in a tanning bed lol, mystic spray tans are where it's at lol
i love this!!! i am passing it on to my friends. i am a self-tanning junkie!
Sunbathing isn't healthy on a regular basis, what so ever. The only "safe" thing when it comes to the sun is using something with a minimum of SPF 15, even in your chapstick.
I have a friend who is only 25 and has already had a pre-cancerous mole removed. If you love your body, you'll take care of it.
Its the one thing I'm kind of crazy about >.<
that was awesome and yes, they should have more ads like that.
I don't tan. My skin is going to be a normal color. Normal meaning: If i'm out in the sun and I get a little darker, great; but I'm not going to force it.
Living longer vs. having to renew my skin color while raising the risks of cancer.
Hmm, not a tough call.
thanks!
I think tanning in a tanning bed or out in the sun is relaxing and I go once in awhile. However, I mainly stick with the self-tanners or the gradual tanners like Jergen's or Dove. I guess you could say that I'm a self-tanning junkie. I like the feeling of having some "color".
@The_Tudor_Rose@xanga - I love that you point out that SPF is important for your lips, too! I've been using SPF chapsticks since my teen years. I actually have pictures of me from a family trip to Puerto Rico where my face is tan and my lips have a white ring around them from using too much SPF chapstick! So funny!
@fiery_redhead@datingish - - I've actually heard that having low-doses of UV-rays from a tanning bed is OK, especially for special beds that prevent burning and promote a healthy tan. However, make sure you're not allowing yourself to bake in the bed for too long - you get a crazy amount of extra rays in any salon than you would on a normal day spent outdoors.
yeah good idea to advertise the truth.
I have pretty bad eczema and tanning is the only treatment I've found that makes a significant difference. In fact, it almost completely cures my eczema. If I didn't tan my skin would be covered in little awful dry skin bumps and raw red patches that crack and bleed. I only tan like once every 2 weeks or maybe every week and a half at most. I do think tanning more than once a week is bad, but I think it's pretty dumb that people also try and make it sound like tanning at all is gonna make you drop dead from cancer. Moderation is always the key.
Tanning is awfull... i on the other hand want to be whiter.
