Do you want to lose fat? Have you tried different diets and failed consistently? If you answered yes to these questions, you are in good company.
There are a lot of people who have been trying fat loss diets over the years and have failed.
The reason they have not succeeded is that they used gimmicks and lose-weight-fast diets that do more damage than good.
Here are some sensible things to keep in mind when you try to lose weight.
1. Why are you overweight? Do you have a problem with emotional eating? If that's the case you need to teach yourself to turn to solutions other than food when you have an emotional difficulty. If you are just not eating right, learn how to eat well and nutritiously. Check with your doctor if you suspect a hormonal imbalance. When you find out what is causing you to gain weight, you can go ahead and find a solution that will encourage fat loss.
2. Decide that from now on you control your food intake. Look for a long term healthy diet that will allow you to live a healthy life. Do not let friends and family pressure you into eating something you shouldn't eat. Do not let restaurant menus or food in your fridge influence what you will be eating. Eat only what you decide you will be eating in order to attain a healthy lifestyle.
3. Eat every 2-3 hours. The recommendation used to be to eat 3 big meals. However, today we know that eating frequently is better for your metabolism. Beware of snack foods that are high in fat and calories. Instead, choose to eat healthy snacks and stay away for high-fat processed treats or sugary sweets.
4. Chew your food well. If you eat slowly and enjoy the taste of your food, you will get more pleasure out of eating. You will also end up eating less because it takes your body some to to register that it is full. If you eat too fast - you will end up eating more before you realize that you are full.
5. Don't make major changes in your lifestyle. It is much easier to follow a fat loss diet when you don't need to make huge changes in your eating habits. Choose a plan that will allow you to make small changes, allowing time for yourself to get used to each change. You should not feel that you need to starve or eat food that you are not familiar with.
6. Stay away from processed food and eat a balanced diet instead. Processed foods are high in sugar and fat, and eating it will make it harder for you to lose weight. Processed food is also unhealthy and can cause heart disease and other health problems. Instead, eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins.
7. Remember to hydrate. Water, unsweetened teas, and other relatively calorie free beverages that provide good hydration (diet beverages often have caffeine, which can reduce their hydrating ability) are a must. You'll feel fuller, your body will be able to keep itself cleansed, and the flavor of teas and similar drinks keeps you from having cravings.
Are you or something you know looking to lose fat? What have you been doing to get rid of the fat?

Great tips!
and EXERCISE!!!!
Good tips.
good tip about chewing; it's so true. i lived with a family in switzerland for a few months, that would constantly top off my plate of pasta whenever i finished it. i learned to chew a lot, and eat slower so not only would i be full after one plate, but the family would stop giving me more food because i'd finish before them!
another good trick to stop cravings: if you're craving food but your stomach isn't even hungry, brush your teeth. it makes the cravings go away!
Good advice. I've tried it all before though, eventually I go back to cravings, little binges, sugary snacks etc. I do hope this time's different though.
The chewing thing is really good though x
Good advice. People always complain when I eat slowly but I know it's good for myself xDD
Great advice :)
& exercise, lol.
thank you! i think number one will be very hard
I heard that crystal meth makes you lose a LOT of weight really fast. It's sooo easy!!!
@a_bundle_of_sticks@xanga - not a good idea
@Katherine_the_third@xanga - I agree about the brushing the teeth :) But sometimes I get cravings in the middle of the day, so I usually just drink water.
Exercise, drink lots of water, and go to bed early. :)
i think everyone is looking to lose fat....lol
i know im always trying to lose poundage here and there.
Green tea helps keeps belly fat at a low.
I'm not overweight at all (kinda underweight), but I went for a body fat test kinda thing, just to see if I had enough water in my body, healthy fat etc.
There's one measurement it does, where it measure your belly fat, and it had to be less than 15 or something. If it's more, it means you're at a really high risk of heart disease & diabetes etc, and they'd give you tips on how you could bring it down.
But anyway, my belly fat was 2. They reckoned coz I drink green tea everyday- sometimes up to 3 cups a day.
Good advice and would you recommend the book Eat this not that for diet control as well?
i like these tips! eating every 2-3 hours is a great one- i love healthy snacking!
awesome!
@punkchik234@xanga - excellent book and highly recommended. The Abs Diet By David Zinczenko
is also another one I'd recommend. Why I like this one is that you do
not have to calorie count at all, just add the 12 power foods into your
diet and you are set, with the exercise program of cause.
Love the tips! thanks :D
@devil_undercover@xanga - what great advice. drink green tea and you will be damn near anorexic. doubt it has much to do with your green tea intake. more so with what and how much you eat as well as how much you exercise.
Exercise generally helps.
@icarebecause? - Look, just saying to give it a try.
And green tea is good for you anyway.
I did not imply that drinking green tea makes you look near aneroxic.
While I am about healthy eating, I've not had proper exercise in a few months because of work.
@a_bundle_of_sticks@xanga - awesome, i think i'll try that! =]
