Ha ha. My first ever physical was done as a freshman in high school by a male. I felt really awkward, but I'm fine with it now.
I'm actually not, though I have been examined by male doctors, before. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, thinking that you're vulnerable in a paper gown and under their scrutiny, while they're fully clothed and "in control." They say it's all "the same," that they view the human body as a machine, to take the humanity out of it, and in some ways, I'm sure that's true (I've seen it.) Yet... knowing this doesn't make it any easier.
I'm okay with it. My OB with all three of my boys was male.
No. The only time I was ever comfortable with it was with this one doctor from mom's job. He's a family practitioner, and that's what he did at my mom's hospital. I was recommended to him by my mom's friend, who sees him. He was actually good and I was fine... but I didn't have to take anything off. I was going there because I was sick. Now, if it was a physical, I think I'd be vastly uncomfortable.
Yep. My gastroenterologist is male. I base things on their professionalism and quality, not gender. :)
idk. but i would feel super awkward. especially if my gynecologist is some nasty old geezer. yuckkkk
i'm o.k. with it
No.
I don't like doctors, male or female, to examine me. But otherwise, I'm cool with the oposite sex.
I generally prefer the same sex..my surgeon for my knee is male, which is fine, but for more personal problems/general stuff I always prefer females. Just feel more comfortable around them
no no no. dentist and family doctor of the opposite sex is ok but not when it comes to OBGYN. thats just weird. male OBGYNs have too much fun.
i'm not.
dentist is okay.
but no nonono
It doesn't bother me any.
Very uncomfortable.
doctor = uncomfortable depending where O___O
Sometimes. My Gyn is a male and the part that makes it uncomfortable is I work with him too.
I absolutely fine with it.
It depends on what the doctor is going to be doing. If it's a life/death operation then I don't much care who does it as long as it's done right. I hate female shrinks, which may be odd seeing as how I'm female, but it took me a long time to learn to trust my present (male) psychologist. And I preferred the female nurse practitioner to the male primary doctor I had at home because the dude was a creep, but it could have been a creepy woman and I wouldn't have liked it either. My favorite doctor at the clinic on campus was Dr John Woods, but he took a position elsewhere. The women there are okay, but I think I would actually prefer a guy unless they were messing around with my lady parts (including boobs). Might have something to do with the fact that I'm a lesbian. It's whatever.
I'm fine with it. All my doctors have been male so far so I've gotten used to it.
Depends on what you mean by "examined". A regular old physical exam (blood pressure, stethoscope, poking and prodding): yes. An internal gynecological exam: no.
I don't really care. I just ask that if I say "ow" that they take a minute to let me gather myself for 'round 2' of whatever we were doing, lol.
NO WAY
Not necessarily but I have to be.
doctors in general creep me out, male or female. family docs were both male and female. I choose whoever has the most experience. I've seen younger, new doctors, and their inexperience makes me nervous.
if the doctor is legit and knows what he's doing, i don't feel awkward, it's all good.
