@stupidcravings@xanga - To the contrary. I'm Chinese, eat lots of cheese, drink lots of milk, use butter in some of my meals, but still manage to weigh a measly 124 lbs. And I can eat about 1/3 of my body weight in 2 meals.
@BEAUTIFULCINNAMONQUEEN@xanga - it's genetics. it depends on how your genes that process amino-acids, carbohydrates, lipids etc are expressed. We all know people that eat whatever they want but are still rail thin.
it depends on each person, and the context they live in is also a big factor... it just so happens to be that the context (or the culture) usually overlaps with a particular race. it might have long term influences... perhaps northern races tend more to store nutrients as fat due to how cold it is? just a conjecture
if you exercise on a regular basis, you'll have a fast metabo but yeah i think asians have a fast metabo. must be in the blood or something. than again i've seen a few chubby asians so its hard to say.
Caucasian, african, asian, hispanic, ect. Those are all ethnicities. [at least that's the way I see it] And then that has nothing to do with metabolism. It's all about genetics and how you take care of your body!
Race may be a social construct, but the way we determine which of these categories we want to put someone in is based on characteristics that are passed on genetically. So if metabolism is linked to genetics, isn't it likely that some races at least have the tendency to have a better metabolism than others?
