It depends on what country you live in and the average life span there
Isn't one usually considered "over the hill" at age 40? I think that's more of the half-way point. 50 is gettin' up there.

Technically, it's middle-aged... if you're going to live to 100.
If you're only going to live to 70, though, it's old.
Medically and psychologically speaking, middle age is 40-60. Early adulthood, of course, is up to age 39, and Late adulthood is over 60
That's young-old. I'm in the Gerontology field, so we were taught about the elderly "cohort".

I'd say 50 is middle aged. I'd say 60 or above is probably getting old.

It's as old as you feel. If you feel old, then you're old. If you are healthy, eat well, exercise, laugh a lot, well then it isn't so old, is it? I wouldn't consider someone who is 50 old, unless they act like they are old.
Past middle aged, but everybody keeps trying to be younger and younger.

Depends on period of time! Ask that question four hundred years ago... and you're old. Fast forward four hundred years into the future, and it'll be young (here's hoping anyways).

50 is obviously, obviously, middle aged. I really don't think there's any room for debate here. There's generally no sort of important cognitive decline by this age, and both the body and facial features are still closer to youthful than elderly.
I am 50 and I have the strength to make love twice a day then i am still young & feel young
