What Can I Add To Make A Healthy Sandwich?
Sent to us by a Healthkicker reader.
I'd like to start taking sandwiches to work for lunch because I've found some healthy bread.
What can I put in a sandwich that would be healthy? Any ideas?

wholemeal bread, mushrooms, boiled eggs, cucumber,a bit of cottage cheese (or some butter, in France we often put butter but more calories), some herbs like thym.
You can also make a sandwich in farmhouse bread with butter/cottage cheese, some cheese (gouda, cheddar, mozzarela...),salad and tomatoes
but please, forget sandwich loaf, there is a lot of sugar on it, and it's not as healthy as "normal" bread.
Put not a lot of fat on it, a lot of vegetables and not a lot of "fat" meat like sausage or "paté" if you eat meat.
Your picture is strange, it looks like taboulé or couscous on the sandwich?? lol
You should put some fresh mozzarela chease, tomatoes, and some lettuce in your sandwich. Delish!
Vegetables.
A lot of greens, maybe some bell peppers, tomatoes, onions (or not, cuz of the breath), garlic, and mozzarella cheese. :)
Spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, green peppers.
Avocado on sandwiches is nice.
veggies, hummus, avocado,
A lot of vegetables and some lean meat - like grilled chicken.
hummus and veggies on whole wheat... or almond butter and fresh pear or banana slices
i <3 avocado. on pretty much anything.
tomato, spinach, lettuce, cucumber... all vegetables have little to no (negative) calories.
also, meat is not the enemy!!! you can always put some turkey on it.
OR peanut butter and honey (my favorite)
Spinach instead of lettuce, avocado rather than mayo, fresh meat rather than packaged meat, spices like cumin, red pepper powder, and paprika. Cucumbers for some crunch. Arugula if you want a little peppery kick. And not too much cheese.
Tofu. You can make a tofu, tomato, lettuce sandwich (TLT).
OMG that looks so good...
lettuce, tomatos, mayonnaise, cheese (the kind with holes in it), some chick-fil-a polynesian sauce :} egg...i dont know...
my favorite is shredded chicken w/ spinach, sprouts, cheese and a bit of salad dressing of your choice... yum.
That sandwich actually looks really nice. It might be just that I haven't eaten in a few days but yeah.
@meltykb@xanga - ...FTW
@justadmitit00@xanga - I found a recipe online that was pretty yummy.
tomatoes, low fat, no cholesterol mayo, low sodium ham, low fat cheese, lettuce, pickles, low sodium ketchup and mustard, :)
whole wheat bread, tofurky, veggies :]
no mayo. ever.
low fat turkey!!! lettuce tomato pickles :) NO MAYO haha which is my fave part if you need something add mustard because thats low cals.
sprouts, hummus instead of mayo or mustard, arugula or mixed greens, fish (the sustainable kind of course)
Flax seeds!
substitute mayo or butter for mustard and save urself some calories
I put turkey, mustard, black olives, spinach and green peppers on my sandwiches!
