Do You Believe In Living Green?
Do you believe in living green? If so, what do you do to help the environment?

yes of course. the usual - drive less, recycle, reuse paper, don't throw stuff away, short showers, turn off electronics/lights...
I recycle and I compost. I used to walk a lot, but I've gotten a bit lazy lately so I drive more now.
I feel guilty on rare ocassions when I don't recycle. I try to conserve energy. I'm sure I could put more effort into going green. My worst green faux-pas is drinking from water bottles but they are recyclable.
I try to. I recycle whenever I can, going to school for Green design, turn off the lights in rooms I'm not in and drive a fuel efficient car (though it's not really green).
We use energy-saving light bulbs. They reduce your electric bill substantially, and they prevent 1,000 lbs of carbon dioxide greenhouse emissions from being put into the atmosphere.
I use an electric cart instead of a gas powered cart when I go golfing. When I go fishing I drift fish instead of trolling. I try and car pool to stadiums on game day. I buy the collectors edition drink cups so I can use them over when I buy a soda at the games. I try and share a program to save paper. After the game I pick up collector cups and give them away as presents at christmas. Kind of a recycling dealeo. Hey! Someone paid five bucks for them cups!
try my best o-o? but it wouldnt change drastically
solar powered house... well sort of, mainly in the summer when it is more effective. stop buying bottled water and started refilling. recycled the unused bottles. hybrid.
Energy saving light bulbs. Reusable grocery totes. Riding my bike to run errands. Water filter / reusable water bottles. Turning off the A/C and electricity when I don't need it. Not letting the water run while brushing my teeth. Et cetera.
For sure, but I know I don't do hardly enough. I'm vegan and I shop at Farmer's Markets a bunch. This summer my mum and I have a tomato plant and a yellow bell pepper plant so lets hope those grow well! Of course recycling, but barely anyone doesn't do that. Don't buy plastic water bottles or any other kind of plastic drink containers, I pretty much just drink water and put it in my one water bottle. Use canvas bags for shopping and don't put my produce in plastic baggies. Reuse stuff like jars and cans for random things like pencil cups and whatnot. Clean without using all those crazy chemical cleaners, like I use water and vinegar to clean floors.
Yes, I do what I can. I recycle and buy recycled products, I take public transportation, I try not to leave lights on, I buy those little carbon fluorescent lights, and I don't eat meat.
I love being green! I stick to mostly chicken & fish. I eat a healthy diet of "clean" foods not prepackaged foods. I use the ecofriendly bags instead of grocery bags many times. I try not to take too long of showers. I recycle. I use earth friendly cleaning products, not bleach or harsh chemicals. I turn out the lights when not in the room & unplug appliances at night. I also use those power strips for the TV & computer so everything is in one strip to turn out at once. It's easier & I save energy that way :]
@smiling_veggie@xanga - I do the same thing with the vinegar! I use the vinger to clean my bathroom mirriors too :] I save jars to store stuff in too :] Glad to see someone else does that too!
Living green is the best way to live. :) I always make sure to conserve energy.
Using reusable grocery bags, recycling, conserving energy whenever I can.
@skinnychic8@xanga - Oh yay that's awesome!
I do! But all I am doing at the moment is recycling, compostingand encouraging eco-living when I can. >When I can steadily live independently I might do lots more!
My answer is two fold. I turn off unnecessary appliances and all that good stuff when possible, as I have done since I was little.
However, the trendyness of the "green movement" and the ignorance of people who try to get in by buying organic stuff shipped clean across the country and the like makes me want to burn down a rainforest.
The usual, i recycle ALL my paper. My school has a worm compostion program, we use the compost to grow our own gardens there, i reuse pop bottles, and i walk home everyday after taking the bus three times before that.
absolutely! biking, bus, walking, using low watt light bulbs, turning the water off when i shave, unplugging unused plugs, buying locally, conservation and restoration, recycling almost everything, and just being educated and aware and sharing that knowledge.
i believe in living.
@smiling_veggie@xanga - @skinnychic8@xanga - Vinegar + baking soda = the best cleaning solution! just don't use it on wood floors!
use umm.. multioutlet with circuit breakers? I know it breaks the circuit, but I'm not sure what those thingys are really called. Anywhoo, you save tons of electricity and $$$$$ because your appliances aren't plugged in. Even in idle mode your appliances takes up electricity - small amounts but it's like a dripping faucet, over time it accumelates.
No. "Living Green" is a corporatism used to replace the growing apathy to Christmas that can be marketed to year round. Considering that 99% of the time I hear anything about "living green" is when someone is trying to sell me something....I stay away from the concept.
You want to live green? Don't buy that hybrid, but a used car. Don't purchase those hemp jeans, purchase used ones. Don't buy oraganic, grow your own food. Etc etc etc. It's just a marketing scheme. WAKE UP!
fossil fuels are mother nature's gift to man.
try to imagine a world without coal, petroleum or aluminum.
no seriously.
I'm not for dumping toxic matter into our oceans and bays and I'm all for reducing smog. we've come a long way to be responsible stewards for future generations but this carbon footprint nonsense is getting out of hand.
next time you read a news report about a volcano erupting, round up a group of your friends and take mother nature to court in a class action lawsuit for spewing all kinds of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere.
I believe in protecting our environment from toxic gases because they are harmful to us and to animals, causing breathing problems and who knows what other diseases, pretty much the same as secondhand smoking. I also believe in recycling to keep from having the entire earth's surface from being covered in trash. Taking a bike, walking, eating whole foods (esp. organic) are also common sense things you can do for your own health as well as being "green." I don't believe there is anything we can do to stop global warming. I think it's a natural process that started when the ice age ended. I learned in a class I took recently that most of the greenhouse gas is oxygen, not carbon dioxide. We can't exactly rid ourselves of oxygen. I think we should protect the environment for other reasons, but it has nothing to do with global warming because that's going to happen no matter what we do.
