  • Why You Need A Body Detox

    Cornucopia with fruit and vegetables

Getting a body detox is gaining popularity in many health circles. Because of the toxic build up in our bodies, getting clean on the inside is a must. A typical American has years of poor eating habits, exposed to poor air quality, and has low fiber diets. Also, stress can attribute to the increase of toxins being formed in our bodies. If our bodies do not properly and regularly eliminate this build up in our colon or other organs, we are prone to sickness and disease.

Generally, our body does a good job in trying to eliminate the toxins we are exposed to daily. But it is a challenge to handle this onslaught of toxins. The toxins will adversely  affect the functioning of vital organs like the liver, kidneys,  and the colon. Poor health is usually a result of a toxic  colon which leads to a toxic liver, thus polluting the tissues  and the bloodstream. For optimal health, our bodies must be  free of dangerous toxins.

How Do I Know I Need A Body Cleansing?

You need to take action if you have one or more of the following problems. Diarrhea, impaired digestion, constipation, fatigue and low energy, gas and bloating, hemorrhoids, excess weight, food allergies, bad breath, foul smelling stools. These are only some of the symptoms.

Just like you car needs the oil changed regularly or your outside of your body regularly needs a washing, so does your internal body. Waiting too long or till you start experiencing some symptoms listed above, is not a wise idea. You will increase your risk of developing much more serious problems like cancer the longer you procrastinate.

Our bodies today simply cannot keep up with the extreme exposure of ingested or inhaled toxins. The toxins that are not eliminated simply accumulate in fat cells, tissues, blood, organs, and remain stored indefinitely resulting in all kinds of health issues. You can change to a high fiber
diet and eat less acidic foods, but a simple solution is to regularly get a body detox or body cleansing.

Are you in need of a body cleansing? Have you thought about cleansing your body before?

Yeah.. I've also heard the OTHER side of the story.

and what exactly was the point of this post? I mean, how do you do a body detox like asked before?

  • LadyLibellule@xanga

Yes, we live in a toxic environment.  Yes, our bodies can be full of toxins.  But our bodies also have the ability to detox themselves, without harsh detox diets or colonics (or whatever else you might be convinced to try).  If your body can't detox itself, it's a sign that something's not quite right... not a sign that you need to call the colon irrigation specialist.

@jcy_yan@xanga - indeed, this post would have been more helpful had it gave an explanation as to how to do a body detox b/c not everyone is aware of this

  • methodElevated@xanga

Detox diets and similar programs are bullshit.

  • Not_a_real_site@xanga

    @LadyLibellule@xanga - Quite agreed.

LMAO.  This is my favorite line: "You can change to a high fiber
diet and eat less acidic foods, but a simple solution is to regularly get a body detox or body cleansing."

Because eating more fiber and less acidic food is soooooo hard.

  • TakingxOverxMe@xanga

I hope this post has a part two in which we're told what we can do.  =P

  • abh816@xanga

So... how do I do it?

  • imyourstargirl@xanga

What exactly is a body detox?
Prease, don't make me resort to that GOOP website. D:

  • angelinasays@xanga

Wow, total bullshit. Did you not watch Oprah today? (Although, some Oprah stuff is bull, too).

  • Ulv@xanga

You don't lose a lot of actual weight doing a detox. Your colon can hold up to 10lbs of you know what.

There are several ways to do a detox and in varying lengths.
You can do with with a few purchased goods from health stores.
The best way is to do it naturally by a mixture of water and lemon juice. Depending on the amount of days you wish to do it add salt in order to not become dehydrated (at your body lets out lots of salts when on a liquid diet, water actually acts as a diuretic).

@LadyLibellule@xanga - agreed 100%. I watched a show in which two groups of people were exposed to crappy fair-food and "toxins", and then one group did a detox diet for a week and the other group ate normally. There was really no difference when the test was over (they did blood and urine samples). The only difference was that the detox group was aching for regular food and they all swore they'd never detox again because it was pointless and left them unsatisfied.

We just need to eat healthy foods so we feel good. Eating unhealthy things, i think, makes your body work harder to digest them well...so we feel run down and gross. Eat well, feel well. Simple.

  • swayXX@xanga

    i definitely need a detox...

  • direwolf005@xanga

Detox diets are bull%@#*. Your body cleans itself. Eating fruits and veggies is healthy and prevents your body from working too hard, but that's how we should be eating all the time! Instead of trying to get rid of junk in your body (which really can't be done through any diet...), concentrate on keeping it out to begin with. Liquid diets don't clean you out. They just make you tired, moody and make you crave junk food even more.

  • LlothoftheDrow@xanga

I've thought about it but not sure as to the healthiest way to go about it.

  • QuantumStorm@xanga

@Strangebrain@xanga - +1. Colon irrigation and other similar "body detox claims" are BS.

  • QuantumStorm@xanga

//You need to take action if you have one or more of the following problems. Diarrhea, impaired digestion, constipation, fatigue and low energy, gas and bloating, hemorrhoids, excess weight, food allergies, bad breath, foul smelling stools. These are only some of the symptoms.//

There are countless other diseases and far simpler things that can cause these symptoms, many of which can be solved with over-the-counter medicine or even less than that. It's hardly a reason to go for a detox. It's like calling a battalion of the National Guard to rouse a drunken bum off a park bench. (Except unlike a detox, the battalion can actually be effective).

Don't fall for the hype and BS claims.

Mother once bought some Activia thinking it was regular yogurt. I ate about 2 or 3 of those small packs for about 2-3 days, and apparently that stuff is supposed to work like a detox. Well, if severe chest pains, and not being able to keep anything inside (not even water) and laying in the fetal position cause you're so weak, if that's all part of what detoxing is supposed to be, then count me out.

  • magnusiax@xanga

Health spa in another way to revitalize your body. With the spa experience it will help cleanse your body, when you consistently go to spa treatments the benefits you can get aside from it cleanse your body is you can get a healthy balance diet. And lastly, with the health spa experience it helps lifting your spiritual senses and helps rejuvenate your daily walks of life.

  • foolishmistakeZ@xanga

give me a step by step approach .. how?

  • I_ChooseThin@xanga

God, people need to be more openminded. I understand that it was a bit off putting that the article didn't even mention how you can actually detox your body, but come on! The first sentence was talking about popular it's becoming, not saying "you need to detox now or you'll die!" Lay off. And for you ignorant people that say it's pointless, you've probably never tried it before or you think it's supposed to be some crash diet thing to make you lose weight fast. Just because people lose weight while detoxing doesn't mean that was their only purpose (if at all) in doing so. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not live my life with undigestible things like additives, preservatives, and the like acumulating in my stomach. That sounds disgusting, if you ask me. Oh, and another thing to the people who claim it doesn't work; have you ever had a friend who smoked pot or drank on a regular basis but had to deal with urine tests at their job? They DETOX to get it out of their system so they won't get fired. So the next you say something doesn't work, is pointless, or bullshit, find some facts first or actually try it. We eat so much crap these days, it'd be nothing to try the Lemonade Diet or other colon cleanser. Sorry about the rant, but these people are getting on my freaking nerves.

Those symptoms could be a sign of many other things too. I think my body is doing a pretty good job on it's own.
