(up, and down, up, and down)
I'm sure some of you guys experienced this, the dreaded Yo Yo effect. For those of you not in the know, its the issue of losing weight, then gaining weight, then losing it again, and never stabilizing. I must say, I myself and guilty of this phenomena, albeit its relatively small compared to most other people. The worst Yo-yoing I have experienced is going from 161-173lbs in a month, and it's probably due to the fact that at 161 lbs, I was working out every day and I stopped.
So here I am again trying to lose weight, and I've been doing my research. Maintaining weight is what separates the men from the boys, and here are a few tips.
1) Diets involving denial of crave foods, DO NOT WORK. The reason why is because the moment you get off your diet, you head to your nearest burrito stand. The key to maintaining weight is your calorie intake and output. That means portion control! hunger control! Self control!
2) Do not cram excessive amounts of exercise in short bursts. If you are the type to work out really hard for a month, then stop, you should consider stretching the work out so that you are exercising on a consistent basis.
3) Keep yourself busy! If you get lazy, it gets exponentially harder to start work again! So always have something to do!
Any other thoughts? Have you ever yo-yoed? What was the most you've gained and lost in a month?

i yo yo all the time!! :(
gain/lose like 4kg maxNo yo-yo'ing here. My body likes to stay at the bodyweight it is at. Might have to do with homeostasis :P which sucks since I want to gain more weight. My additional tips to the post: eat clean, but give yourself one junk food meal (maybe two) a week. It really stops the cravings without adding too many calories. Set aside time daily to get in your 30 minutes (or more) of exercise (preferbly cardiovascular activity).
I have the same problem. Especially when it's that time of the month. It sucks.
i yo-yoing gets that... yo-yo-y. lol. i range from 113-118 eh. bleh.
also try eating every 2/3 hours it'll boost your metabolism, keep you full and help prevent binges.
Thanks! Great tips! I yo-yo all the time. I'll blame it on the pill even though it started before I was even on it...I've actually been pretty consistent since February, after I lost 10 pounds. I'm happy where I am now. I can eat foods I want and not gain a ton of weight, but I can still exercise and not lose a lot either. I have to stay at this weight for another year to fit my wedding dress perfectly!
Yep...sooo dislike the yo-yo. It makes me feel that my workout is not working...
