How to Use Contact Lenses?
Contact lenses are used as substitutes for eyeglasses. They are often worn by people who have vision problems such as astigmatism, near-sightedness, or far-sightedness. Contact lenses are small plastic discs that cling directly on the cornea. There are several types of contacts but each eye problem has a corresponding type of lens to be used. Eye specialists can easily determine which type of contact lens to be used so make sure to consult one before buying.
Utmost care is needed when using and handling contact lenses. They must be cleaned properly and disinfected when you take them off your eyes so to kill germs and prevent further infections. The lens container must also be thoroughly cleaned after putting the contacts on your eyes. Rinse it with warm water if possible and then let it dry. Just be reminded not to use homemade cleaning solutions for they might lead to serious eye infections. Only use cleaning solutions prescribed by your eye doctor.
But there are disposable lenses that do not need cleaning. An example would be CIBAVision’s Focus Dailies. Focus Dailies are designed to be replaced and disposed of everyday, so you do not need to clean them anymore. Do not ever attempt to sterilize disposable lenses. They are really designed to for short duration usage.
Wear your contact lenses properly. Never ever share your lens with anybody. Always wash your hands with soap before touching your contact lenses or your eye. Also, do not put your lenses on and off your eyes in one day. Touching your eyes frequently may cause irritation. It is also advised not to use fashion lenses unless given a go signal by an eye doctor. If you want to change the color of your eyes, see a doctor first before buying colored contact lens. There are lenses such as Acuvue 2 Colours for changing your eye color and there are lenses like Focus Visitint that helps the user wear the lens properly.
Finally, immediately call or see your eye doctor when you feel any symptoms such as painful eyes, having a red eye for more the two days, fluid is discharging from your eyes, itchy eyes, or if you have blurry vision. There is no better solution than consulting your doctor when you have even the slightest problem or feeling of discomfort. Always follow instructions from your doctor and from the instruction manual. Contact lenses are delicate things for you to just be playing around with.
Are you someone who uses contact lenses regularly? Have you had any eye problems from regular use of contacts?

Nope.
I just recently got glasses because everything was quite blurry far away.. but I don't think I'll get contacts for that. I don't use my glasses outside of the classroom anyway.
Definitely call your doc if your contacts/eyes are bothering you! I found out I'm allergic to the materials used in a certain brand
Take care of your eyeballs, they're the only ones you've got!
I tried contacts once, but I couldn't get used to putting them on as my eyes are pretty small. So I go with glasses or nothing at all, as my bad vision is not severe
I've worn contacts since I was 10 (I'm 19 now). I still wear glasses at night though. They are troublesome sometimes... they can rip and mine only last two weeks. They are expensive too. Also, I have a problem since i've been wearing them so much that not enough oxygen is getting to my eyes so i had to switch to acuvue hydraclear. Anyway, that picture grosses me out because even though I stick contacts in my eyes every single day, seeing a finger with a contact on it makes me cringe! dont ask!
lol i've worn it for afew years now :] and i love it. i may not do all these steps that are mentioned though
i wear night time contacts
they are amazing. nothing in my eye during the day
it does suck when i pull an all nighter though...my poor math class seat partner has me copying all her notes
I always wear them, and have never had any problems. Not even when I forgot about them and left them in overnight.
I wear contacts lenses. Sometimes it's dry during the day so I have to take it out and wash it. My friend told me that if you wear contact lenses for 10 years or more, the contact lenses will make your cornea thinner. >_> Scary!
yezzir i am. and yea i've definitely had eye problems; they are especially enhanced during allergy seasons. blehh that's when contact lenses become a hassle.
@Got_Takoyaki@xanga - you should keep a small bottle of rewetting eye drops in your bag. they are so handy when you've been staring at the computer for so long or just have them in your eyes all day.
I am so incredibly thankful for contacts. I've got really bad vision and can't see much past my nose when I'm not wearing glasses or contacts, and contacts are just top notch: they don't slip down your nose, they don't make you self-conscious, and you have no annoying lights reflecting off them. =]
I've been wearing them since high school and I love them. But I want Lasik ASAP!!!!!!!!!
I've been wearing contacts since...middle school I think? I love them. I don't disinfect very often, though. xD No problems so far.
Once, in middle school, I somehow dropped my contact lens. I don't know what I was doing at the time. It was a rare occurance. Anyway. I went to the nurses office and she had contact solution I had never heard of before and, stupidly, used it to put my contact back in. My eye was screaming in pain for at least the rest of the day and maybe a bit of the next day. My memory is foggy. It hurt to open my eye, it hurt to close my eye. All I wanted to do was cry and try to sleep. My eye was so red it looked like I had pink eye.
I think my dad owned some of this one type of contact solution that I used once or twice. Both times my eye got super irritated and hurt like a MOFO. I threw it out.
It was either contact solution I was allergic to or solution meant for hard contacts.
Idk. I wish I remembered the brand name.
I've worn glasses for about 5 years now and recently just got contacts. I have to admit, I love contacts so much better.
I was so stupid when I was little. I thought glasses were cool, so I "purposely" tried to make my vision worse. I don't remember what I did ... I think I read in the dark or something ... but I ended up needing to get glasses in the third grade. I was so happy. I remember flaunting the red and pink frames to my teacher.
Well, glasses suck. I was a ball magnet so my glasses always broke when I got hit by the ball. My mom convinced me to get hard contact lenses. Hahaha. It took me about an hour+ to even get them into my eye. And most of the time, I'd take them off at school and wear my glasses. So I switched to the night contacts (where you wear them at night and when you take it off in the morning, you can see everything). I've been wearing those for about 5 years. They're great, but I don't know what I'm going to do in the future. :/
