  • Healthy Foods You Hate But Eat Anyway



    Growing up I hated, I mean absolutely hated eating fish.  I couldn't even stand the sight of fish, let a lone the smell. But every week my mom made fish and stuck it front of me to eat.  Back then it was either eat what you get or go hungry for the rest of the night cuz I wasn't going to get anything else. 

    I couldn't stand it and secretly hated my mom at the time for it. But now 12-13 years later I've learned to stomach fish because of its health benefits.  No matter how many supplements you take to make up for eating fish, it's never the same.

    What are some healthy foods you hate but still eat anyway?

    @Dare2BDiferentt@xanga - Dirt really isn't that bad to eat. I lived in the woods for a few months and there was definitely plenty of dirt mixed in with our food.

    i TRY to eat tomatoes... i absolutely hate them but i've heard about the lycopene (spelling?) and how it benefits your skin, so i figure i should eat it somehow.

    sweet potatoes suck, too. i can only eat them fried, but that's not healthy, ha.

    I really hate cooked carrots and milk.
    I can have milk with other food like cereals and smoothies, but alone...yuck!
    I'm not that picky though. :P

    i HATE garlic.. i'll only eat it if its in low quantities & if they're not in pieces.. they have to be smashed up and mushy & cooked in soup or something..

    I'm not a big fan of raw spinach but I eat it sometimes. I dislike onions too. And raw brocolli. I will eat all of them but I'm just not a huge fan.

    @nerdishh8D@xanga - seriously! Milk is soooooo gross. The only "dairy product" I eat is ice cream.

    I know a food I hate and I know I will not eat: peas. Texture, taste, all of it is just god awful to me.

    Onions is a big one. If they're in a meal I'll just scarf it down pretending it's not there.

    milk probably, i always have to eat with something sweet like a donut or chocolate chip cookie. or an oreo

    I don't eat anything I truly hate.  The stuff I really hate makes me physically sick, so it would be kind of silly to force myself to eat it.

    I eat pretty healthy, anyway.  And I like most of what I eat.

    MILK! hate it.  every once in a while i'll get a real craving for oreos or cookies and milk, but i cannot drink it by itself!  just can't stand it!  don't even care much for chocolate milk and when I was little i mom could some times get me to drink the Nesquick Strawberry in milk...SOMETIMES.  And those hot chocolate packets... ..I use water.  Even in my oatmeal I'll use water.  Even cereal I put just enough milk to barely cover my cereal and just enough to eat WITH the cereal.  now smoothies ect with milk IN them i enjoy, but just milk...ICK!   =]

    I love healthy foods in general. I cant think of anything I really hated. The only thing I guess is that I thought cauliflower tasted a bit dry -I preferred broccoli.
    Besides that -I didn't like cooked fish. I preferred sushi. I dunno... when it cooks it gets a saltwater taste that I'm not into.

    OH WAIT! @blue_dragonfly420@xanga -  got it. I HATE milk! Plain milk is so gross. I can only take it if its mixed with chocolate powder.

    Oh, also I never got into blue berries. They taste weird and look like frogs stomachs. Don't ask.

    -celery
    -broccoli


    or lets say veggies w/ thick stems.I go for its leaves part and let alone the rest most of the time:P


    healthy foods and consider myself NEVER gonna touch by far
    -olive
    -cinnamon


    Im the type of always choosing nutrients over tastes though.
    stick to a diet w/ no condiments,oil,(deep)-fried and artificial foods as well as i can.

    Wow, I always thought I was a picky eater, but y'all are making me feel not quite so bad.

    Like one poster, there are foods I can't eat (that are healthful) -- but I get physically ill when I eat them, so I don't!  Fish actually made me sick the last 2 times I ate it (and I had liked it) so it may be joining that crowd.

    I'm lucky that I prefer raw veggies (very few I eat cooked) but most of them are better for you that way. And from a few years of working in a health food store, I learned that there are recipes galore out there that can make MANY foods taste much better than you ever might have thought. I'm still experimenting with them, and enjoying cooking a lot more these days too.

    I hope you all find ways to better enjoy those foods you have to force yourselves to eat (and maybe I can do the same with cooked veggies!),

    brussel sprouts, protein shakes, borage oil (blerk) endless broiled chicken fillets.



    what is it with the milk thing? i absolutely love milk, all forms, esp the stuff you get on farm thats hasn't been homogenised etc.



    raw capsicum, dont like it but i still eat tons of it.


    hummus. yuck yuck yuck but i still have it instead of mayo.


    chickpeas in general.



    NUTS!!! I CAN'T STAND THEM IN ANY FORM. they have to be ground to dust before i eat them and even then i hate it, also add coriander, ginger and lemon grass- actualy thai food makes me puke but i love chinese? i dont know why!

    D: milk when drinking it alone is eeew. brown rice when my momma makes us feel guilty she made a batch of it and we'll waste it if no one eats it. annnd. i don't know what else.

    @nerdishh8D@xanga - Yessss. Completely agreed. And peas. They're disgusting.

    I actually don't even eat these things... they're too gross, and I don't see the huge health benefits I'm missing out on by not.
