  • Stairs Are Always The Better Option

Everyday when I come home from work, there’s an escalator in the train station that stars at me.  I look around to see a crowd forming to get on that escalator.

It’s at that point in my trip home that I get annoyed.  They literally form a line waiting to get on, instead of taking the stairs.

I always opt for the stairs.  Unless I’m carrying something very heavy, which is rare, then the stairs are the way for me.

I wish more people would opt for the stairs.  Not because I’m a health nut, but because it’s simple things like walking up the stairs instead of taking the escalator for one floor, that helps in the long run.

America is commonly thought of as the country of the fat people.  Well if people would start doing simple things instead of letting technology bail them out, then we wouldn’t be a country full of fat people.

My 64 year-old dad hates the escalators in the train stations.  He says it makes people lazy, “walking up the stairs is a healthy daily exercise.  Most people don’t get daily exercise in, so why not use this time to get it in?”.  He makes a very valid point.  Walking up the stairs is not a bad way to start the morning and end your day.

When you have the option to take the stairs, do you?  How many floors do you have to walk in your building?

I don't have another option.. I probably have to walk four flights of stairs up&down maybe two or three times a day -____- in my school.

i guess i'm guilty of being lazy... but if there's a line for it, i'd rather take the stairs...

I always take the stairs too...a bit more difficult now I have a toddler and newborn in tow (stroller and other kid stuff in tow as well...). In high school we went to a club convention, and at the end everyone was waiting for the elevator at the hotel. My friends and I always opted to take the stairs to our rooms...all the way up to the 9th floor.

I take the stairs as often as I can.  I'll get odd looks too.  It's little things like the stairs that add up and can make a difference.  I'll take the elevator if I have a difficult/heavy load, or if I'm with too many people that won't take the stairs, or for instance my grandfather was in the hospital not long ago...on like the 8th floor.  Normally I will opt for stairs though.  Or how about those dang moving sidewalks or whatever they're called.  Seriously?!  Are you that lazy that you can't walk those few extra feet!!

i take the stairs no matter what the weather is. i love walking, pacing, jogging, running, etc... so the stairs is just as enjoyable for me. i'm not quite sure how many floors i walk on a daily basis cause it usually depends. when i'm on campus i'm usually walking around thirteen or fourteen flights of stairs or more. (this is mostly due to my stubbornness to take the elevators)

i always take the stairs, plus my apartment is on the 3rd floor and there's not elevator so i choose the stairs.

I always take the stairs. School - 5 flights. Home from work - 1

Last year, I was on the 13th floor of my dorm building and I took the stairs at least once a day. THis year I am on the 7th floor and it's pretty much a rule that I have to take the stairs instead of the elevator.
But it's summer and I only walk up one flight of stairs to get to my room but I do it about 1000000 times a day. haha

And yes, I always took the stairs instead of the escalator for the El.

I usually like to take the stairs when friends & family members take the elevator and later I pop up and beat them to it. LOL The look on their faces is priceless.

Yep, I usually take the stairs. The only time I don't is whenever I'm at the airport (I only take a trip once a year) and they have those "flat" rolly things that you walk on and it makes you walk faster.... those are sooooo fun!!!!
