  • Foods Every Man Should Be Eating

Man should be always strong and healthy enough to feed family. Or maybe smart enough to think about helping other (the real man do so). All these physical and moral abilities come from good food. So what foods every man should have in fridge?

    1. Frozen orange juice concentrate
The vitamin C content of OJ plunges as soon as it leaves the factory — if it’s in a carton. Buy the frozen kind, and you stay ahead of your daily C needs.

    2. 1% milk
Loaded with Vitamin D and calcium. Sport your milk mustache with pride.

    3. Almonds or walnuts
An ideal midday snack high in vitamin E and fiber.

    4. Berries
Fresh or frozen, berries - choose your favorite kind - are loaded with antioxidants. Add them to a bowl of low-fat yogurt for a healthy, refreshing snack.

    5. Cranberry juice
The all-purpose mixer can keep your internal plumbing clean, thus helping to prevent urinary tract infections. When you’re not thirsty, go for dried cranberries..

    6. Romaine lettuce
Sounds ridiculously simple, but it’s an ideal base for your salad, especially if it’s of the Caesar variety. And this phytonutrient-dense leaf makes a great bread substitute if you’re cutting down on carbs.

    7. Eggs
The least expensive, most easily digested, highest-quality protein source out there: egg whites.

    8. Avocado
They’re high in total fat, but it’s mostly the good kind: monounsaturated. They’re also a great source of vitamin E.

    9. Canned anchovies, sardines or herring
A cheap, quick source of omega-3 fatty acids. Add the little fish to a salad or stuff them into a whole wheat pita sandwich. Good food, fast.

    10. Broccoli
This salad stalwart is a key cancer fighter and is loaded with fiber and phytonutrients.

How many of these foods do you see men eating daily?  Which one of these would you never be able to picture a guy eating/drinking?

Most of them seem very unguyish. I am taking these ideas into account for myself

i hate milk. i discovered that when i was really little. it doesn't agree with me. never has.

I'd struggle with the anchovies.  My husband would only eat the juice and almonds.

  • laytexduckie@xanga

I have eaten everything on the list. The problem is, I just don't eat enough of them. None of them are a problem to me, though.

Interesting list. Never really like drinking unflavored milk myself.

soo, why is this only for men?

  • wired_cynic@xanga

I thought this was hilarious because I assumed this roll was supposed to be a sarcastic list of stereotypical things a man should eat like beef, carbs, jello shots, deep friend potatoes, etc. I forgot this wasn't Mancouch.

    Hm... my take on these:

    1. I thought from concentrate is bad... I never read up on it, but that's what I've heard buzzing around.
    2. Lactose-intolerance will stop a man lol but I guess those lactaid pills or whatever should work
    3. Almonds are nutritious and delicious! Almond butter is good too! Basically almond paste lol It's also a great source of complete protein and healthy fats!
    4. I eat frozen blueberries everyday with my oatmeal and almond butter. Great source of anti-oxidants and fiber. Plus the nutritional content stays the same frozen or not. And I think they taste better.
    5. I don't like the taste of cranberries. ZOUR.
    6. I thought things like romaine lettuce is mostly water and hardly any nutrience... Dark green veggies are healthier.
    7. Good stuff lol
    8. Good stuff.
    9. I take fish oil pills and fish oil pills should definitely contain sardines, anchovies, or salmon. I'm not fond of sardines and anchovies though :p
    10. Dark green veggie YES!

nah, i think a man should just eat his meat and veggies (veggies are of vital importantance here!). but this list is just, kinda, gay.

@tastytimmm@xanga -  romaine lettuce is the dark green kind.  iceburg lettuce is the light green, sometimes white lettuce that is almost all water and no nutrient.  romaine is full of good nutrients, but its mainly used in caesar salads and caesar dressing is terrible for you, go figure.

i eat almost all of that stuff daily.  the only things i don't eat/drink is avacado and sardines, anchovies, or herring, BLAH, i just eat salmon instead of that nasty crap.  i have to add some kind of chocolate to my milk though, otherwise it tastes horrible.  i use frozen OJ and frozen berries to make a protein shake after my workouts, its so good!  and my favorite meal is chicken/steak w/ broccoli, i have that at least 2 or 3 times a week.

Hmm... I'll have to start incorporating more of these into meals. Except of course the sardines, and the nuts because of allergies.

    What about grapefruit?

  • kaira_secret@xanga

I don't think these foods are exclusive to men's health, and btw, women are more prone to UTI infections relative to men.
