Diet Coke and Coke Zero? Confused Anyone?
Maybe it's because I'm not a huge fan of soft drinks or haven't drunk enough to figure it out yet, but I've always wondered what the difference between Diet Coke and Coke Zero is. I tried them both a couple times before, but still can't really tell. They both have zero calories, zero carbs, zero sugar, and taste the same, well, very similar (at least to me).
The difference I found so far (thanks to Google) was that while Diet Coke is sweetened with Aspartame (Nutrasweet), Coke Zero is sweetened with a mix of Aspartame and Acesulfame Potassium (a calorie-free artificial sweetener). I'm guessing they can't be all that good for you considering they both use artificial sweeteners. But, I've heard people saying Coke Zero tastes more similar to regular Coke..
Which do you prefer? Which do you think is worse in terms of taste and health?

root beer float mmm
I think that coke zero tastes more like regular coke, really.. As for health, no clue.
Coke Zero is way better. I used to like Diet Coke, but then I tried Coke Zero and now Diet Coke is too sweet for me.
Coke zero for sure! It tastes way more like regular coke and its healthier for you. :)
anybody confused? *raises hand*
i don't drink soft drinks.
I've never even been able to tell the difference between regular coke and diet coke - or the regular and diet versions of any soda, for that matter :p
Coke Zero tastes just like regular Coca-Cola. So I love it :)
<3
diet coke all the way
They don't have zero calories.
It sounds nit-picky but they have 1 calorie per serve.
i don't drink either.
They taste WAY different. I'm very much not a soda fan, always hate the taste of caffeine, you know the bubbles part of it LOL... like they have a taste I swear bubbles do!
Coke Zero is one of the few soda's I'll drink because the caffeine taste is way milder and it does taste similar to Coke, but less of a caffeine taste.
... enough rambles for you?
i find this odd. after reading all the comments... my dad drinks the diet and my mom drinks the zero...
so much for the men refusing diet and the women loving diet... hahah
coke zero > diet coke
however
diet pepsi > coke zero
coke zero tastes more like regular coke because they kept the same coke formula, and just swapped out the sugar for the sugar substittue. diet coke has a slightly different formula from coke, as well as the aspartame. therefore, diet coke doesnt taste like regular coke.
hope this helped!
lol, it had me confused for a while, too.
PEPSI!
...oh, excuse me, i'm so sorry... XD
i've never tried either. i just stick with regular soda, or no soda.
diet coke has an after taste.. coke zero not as bas as the diet coke, but still has an after taste... but if you drank it cold with a lot of ice, you can't really tell..
but i'm more of a sprite person.. unless it's vanilla coke then i'd go with that. never ever pepsi blech
side note: in other arts of the world, diet coke is marketed as coke light
none, they both taste like splenda. ick.
uh, i prefer pepsi :]
neither aspartame causes kidney problems
@testubebaby@xanga - YES!
i rarely ever drink soda. but if i had to choose, i'd drink coke zero cause it tastes better. most diet drinks have a strange aftertaste. but anyway, i stick to water.
The reason that Coke Zero was created will be taught in any Marketing class and the CocaCola company actually released this information. Coke Zero was created for men. Marketing research shows that men do not like the word Diet. It seems that modern media has feminized the word diet, so men do not want to be seen drinking Diet anything. So many of the companies, after doing a great deal of research decided the best thing to do was to name it something different: Coke Zero. Watch the commercials. This drink is targeted toward men ages 20-35. The demographic that tends to avoid Diet drinks. So for all those men with diabetes, or just trying to cut the sugar down they made Coke Zero. It's the same reason Pepsi has Pepsi Max.
Which one is more healthier diet coke ? or coke zero ?
i'm a diet drinker so i can't stand drinking coke zero or pepsi max, it just has a different taste to it. people ask my what's the difference but it's just my taste buds, they don't like the taste too much.
