A few years ago, The New York City Board of Health introduced and established a law for all New York City food establishments to post how many calories are in their items. At first, it was strange and almost invasive to see that a #7 at McDonalds is over 1000 calories. But now, everyone seems adjusted and almost used to the idea of knowing what goes in their meal.
To me, I think its essential to know what I'm eating. For anyone who is calorie conscious or struggling hard to lose weight, this information is important to staying on track. I've gotten so accustomed to knowing calorie content, that when I go across the river to New Jersey I get frustrated not knowing what is in my meal!
How do you feel about knowing how many calories are in your meal? Do you think other states should follow?

i totally agree..it should be in every state. because when you look at calories at restaurants online sometimes the dishes are over 1000 calories for a small salad..its ridiculous
Ugh, exactly. Especially considering obesity is a problem in not only New York, all the other states should put the calorie contents on their foods, too.
I do think all states should follow. That's something that everyone should have the ability to be aware of. It could help many people. Some people don't know that you can find calorie information online, so for them to be able to see it right then at the restaurant.. that'd help.
i think it's a good idea. even if i don't count my calories. at least i know about how many calories i am eating for a meal.
you know i just eat whatever i want i dont really look at the calories, BUT what i do look at is the percentage of fat.. if its more than 10% i perfer not to eat it unless im like totally craving it lol
It's a really, really good idea. I wish they did this where I lived.
i wish my state had that! love the idea.
Yes, I agree. They have that here in Seattle too and it always drives me insane when I have to eat out in another town. It's a consumer's right to know what they're putting into their body.
yes I defff care how many calories I intake during a meal. cause ive been cal counting for so long now I can usually look at something and guess how many are in it. With things from resturants I usually dont bother because if you are eating out you have to expect that it is going to be high in cals and fat...but when I get home I do google it to see, s the next time im out I am more inclined to choose something healthier.
I mean I dont think it should be a neccesity at resturants for them to post cals. Its common sense really. if its buttery, creamy, greesy, or fried its gonna be high in fat and cals. obv if youre out and watching your weight pick something healthy like a simple salad. I mean if you're not going to indulge why go out and eat?
i wish they did that in every state
That would be nice. Even though I don't necessarily count every single calorie, I would like to know the nutritional facts of my meal.
Dude, for sure, I tend to go for the biggest thing on the menu, but I'd like to know how much calories it has. >>

YES. It's great to be in control of what we consume.
yes i think the whole entire world should do it.
other states should follow. i hate eating something and later finding out it was packed with calories.
i NEED to know how many calories are in everything i eat. it's one of the reasons why i never eat at any sort of restaurant.
I agree, people need to be more conscious on what they're taking in.
i like to know what i'm eating...i would actually eat at more places if i knew what i was consuming. since i don't know, i don't eat out. like...ever. unless it's sushi or subway. if i do go out i just order a drink and watch my friends eat...lol
i wish they had it in the UK ...its so anoying having to guess =/
I think everyone should definitely do this. It's awesome, seriously. When I ate in New York City for the first time, I thought it was fucking awesome.
