  • What makes your workout session "complete"?

I have been feeling "burnt out" these few days after working out because I kind of fell off the bandwagon for just 5 days. It took a lot out of me to even run 2-3 miles after the mini hiatus and I felt defeated and so out of shape. And yes, it did surprise me because it was only a couple of days rest!

However, I am working on getting back on track again but it definitely isn't an easy feat. When I first started working out regularly 6 months ago, I was the girl who was huffing away, sweating buckets with the reddest face at the 1 mile mark. (Yes I was terribly out of shape then!) These days, I would only start to sweat after 2 miles at least, but when I do start to sweat , that is when I feel the ability to go on longer.

Suddenly I felt no pain in my left knee, there was so shortness of breath, my mind was completely focused on going a longer distance. Beads of sweat would trickle down my temple and even roll down my chin. I probably look idiotic smiling to myself as I run, but that is what keeps me going.

Bottom line is, if I don't work up a sweat, I tend to feel a little demoralized and start questioning myself with "Could I have gone further?", "Should I have ran faster?" or "Did I not work out enough today?", etc. I love feeling my body ache (in a good way) after a workout and having sweat buckets because even though it's all psychological, it makes me want go pat myself on the back, and go "You did your part for today!"

What about you guys? What makes you feel like you have "completed" your workout? Do you need to sweat a lot to feel that your workout was satisfactory? Also, if you feel unsatisfied after the workout, do you find yourself pushing your limits to a greater extent during the next workout session?
