What makes your workout session "complete"?
I have been feeling "burnt out" these few days after working out because I kind of fell off the bandwagon for just 5 days. It took a lot out of me to even run 2-3 miles after the mini hiatus and I felt defeated and so out of shape. And yes, it did surprise me because it was only a couple of days rest!
However, I am working on getting back on track again but it definitely isn't an easy feat. When I first started working out regularly 6 months ago, I was the girl who was huffing away, sweating buckets with the reddest face at the 1 mile mark. (Yes I was terribly out of shape then!) These days, I would only start to sweat after 2 miles at least, but when I do start to sweat , that is when I feel the ability to go on longer.
Suddenly I felt no pain in my left knee, there was so shortness of breath, my mind was completely focused on going a longer distance. Beads of sweat would trickle down my temple and even roll down my chin. I probably look idiotic smiling to myself as I run, but that is what keeps me going.
Bottom line is, if I don't work up a sweat, I tend to feel a little demoralized and start questioning myself with "Could I have gone further?", "Should I have ran faster?" or "Did I not work out enough today?", etc. I love feeling my body ache (in a good way) after a workout and having sweat buckets because even though it's all psychological, it makes me want go pat myself on the back, and go "You did your part for today!"
What about you guys? What makes you feel like you have "completed" your workout? Do you need to sweat a lot to feel that your workout was satisfactory? Also, if you feel unsatisfied after the workout, do you find yourself pushing your limits to a greater extent during the next workout session?

Actually doing it! Hahaha! Sorry, but I fell off the exercise wagon with my first child, and it has been awful getting back on!
Yeah, sweating a lot definitely makes my workout feel complete. My favorite type of exercise is an aerobics or dance class that leaves me feeling totally energized afterward. That's the best feeling. :]
Hmmm, I guess sweating is one and probably running the amount of time I wanted to run and more. That would probably satisfy me.
i do turbo kick boxing at least 4-5 times a week so my workout to be complete each time after it is to do 15 minutes of ab work either on my own or with the class and then some stretching for 10 minutes. i sweat so much that my body needs to be calm, my heart rate has to go back to normal for me to be completely satisfied after a work out.
Feeling the pump, going to failure, and not being able to complete a last set of an exercise is usually what brings on a feeling of satisfaction with a workout.
After sweating profusely. I am complete.
15 minute run. 30 minutes of walking + randomly lifting weight. 45 minutes on the ellipsis. 30 minutes on the bike. a couple of pull-ups 10-15% of my body weight that is (sadly, I can't seem to fully do a pull-up by myself). & an hour or two worth of volley ball :) that would be a complete workout.
x
finishing whatever i planned at the gym makes my session complete
If I can run for 45 miles and work out my stomach like crazy I'm happy. If my stomach is killing me the next day, I know I did good so that makes me happy :)
sweating buckets def. I'm the same as you in the way... if im not dripping sweat.. i keep thinking i didnt do good enough I should have gone farther longer ect.
I swim in an outdoor pool. My workout is complete if I have an extra five minutes to lie in the sun after a work out. Feel rushed and cheated when I have to rush off straight after
The pain the next day. If my muscles aren't at least aching like they're awake, I haven't done enough.
if i don't start sweating, i'm still glad i did it at all. but i love the way jogging exhausts you and makes you feel like you deserve to sit down (well not immediately!) and catch your breath. even if i don't work up to that point, usually my long workouts still improve my mood and help me defeat that restlessness i had before. then i know i did something right. i need that endorphin fix everyday. i'm cranky on the days i don't work out!
Oh yes when I sweat a bucket load and when I wake up with my muscles aching. Best feeling ever. haha
Breaking a good hard sweat and total time logged is what does it for me. I usually go with specific things in mind to work on, so besides cardio, I focus on different target areas each time and complete the exercises for those zones before I feel "done."
Stretching...?
I dont' think I'm answering this question in the right way, but I never end a workout session without stretching.
When I'm red, huffing and puffing, and everything hurts (in a good way). That's usually after an hour or so of working out.
total exhaustion. knowing i completed the workout i set out to do and being totally wasted after i'm done. if i finish and i've still got some left i know i didn't push hard enough. so yes, next time i do that workout i push myself a lot harder to make sure i 'complete' it.
I think that sweating, achy-ness [to me it feels good ! It makes me feel more accomplished :P] and just exhaustion completes my workout. That tells me that my body was pushed to it's limit and that's good enough for me. I usually do tae-bo, yoga, crunches and other leg exercises all at once, so I get a pretty good workout I would say. It keeps me toned !
Sweating buckets and downing that bottle of water that I usually bring gives me that sense of accomplishment.

i am complete when i finished the list i set out to accomplish. regardless if i am sweating buckets. if i planned to do a run, with such and such muscle training, or what ever the case may be , i am only finished when i have completed them.
For some reason I never feel totally satisfied with my workouts.Even if I'm sweating like crazy and aching all over,I always think I could've done more.
Yeah...I just fell off...
Last week I was trying to go jogging every day, but then my legs started hurting so I decided to rest for a few days...and then I haven't started back up again yet...
I was going to later...but then this interesting movie came on and I wanna finish it so I'm watching that now.
@The_Chaotix_Factor@xanga - Hahaha. I totally understand what you mean.. I was stretching the other day, getting ready for my run and the Simpsons came on. Guess who didn't go for her run because it was a Simpsons back-to-back for 2 hours? Hahaha.
@checkered_flowers@xanga - Kudos. I never think I could do more if I have reached my goal. -lol- I am that weak minded that way.
@SamiiSaysHaii@xanga - @redchill@xanga - @xkthily@xanga - @Shopgirl0393@xanga - @lil_KyungMin@xanga - @StylishMudd@xanga - @TruthNeverTold@xanga - Sweating definitely helps, such a mind game we play... the more we sweat, the better and more accomplished we feel about our workout!
@DragonFeathers@xanga - @C_UNIT42@xanga - Yes, I need to feel the muscle ache too! But sometimes I overdo it and then I don't have the strength to go on the next day!
my workout feels complete when i do at least 30 minutes of some type of cardio and then lots of stretching before i leave.
