Shower at home or Shower at the gym?
Whenever there is talk regarding the gym showers, we will always be taken back to the good old days of the high school dorm showers. For most people, taking a shower at school in the high school years was deemed as a bold or brave thing to do, and if that was you I am pretty sure you stood out from the crowd when you did so. As people migrate to adulthood most would think the whole ’shower in public’ issue would disappear, but this is not the case, and this will probably remain an issue until the end of human existence.
Shower at home or Shower at the gym?
Personally I like to shower at home as I have never been a fan of gym showers. When I shower I like to get comfortable, take my time and sing my heart out (something I’m sure won’t be favored by my fellow gym goers). It’s nothing to do with being shy either, as I don’t have any insecurities about my body (quite the opposite). It’s just that I like to keep my private parts…. PRIVATE.
Some people in the gym just let it all hang out…Willies, D***s, Vaginas, P****s, Butts or what ever you like to call them.
Now I think I can speak for the masses here, but quite frankly, I just don’t want to see any of that when I’m at the gym.
The problem is, you just can’t help but look when it’s on display. Everyone that does go to the gym goes there to improve their bodies, but… most of the people in there are not quite improved… yet! So I have to suffer and look at rolls of fat, overly hairy bodies and private parts that are ugly to begin with. (Yikes!)Now I know some people can’t help that, as I mentioned, we do all go to the gym to improve ourselves. But some people (Ladies… taking to you here) let it all hang out to show off, or some people know they don’t look to hot, but like to shower and at least have the decency to wear underwear or shorts as soon as they get into the locker room.
You can agree to disagree with me, but I think the whole shower thing bothers women more than it does men. Men tend to be more open. After all, we do pee together when out in public. (keep your head straight, don’t turn it now!)
Maybe that explains why women’s showers have Cubicle and men’s showers don’t.
All things said, we do have some great commercial gyms out there. You have facilities such as Jacuzzi’s, Saunas, and when you shower you get access to:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Body wash
- Lotion
- Towels
- Razors
- Shaving gel
- Combs
- and more
Now that beats a home shower any day. (Home vs Gym)
Everyone has their preferences for sure, but below is a list of the pros and cons of both.
STAY FIT and STAY CLEAN! Bugs out!
Home shower
Pros
- Don’t have to look at naked people
- Less likely to pick up germs
- Time and comfort
Cons
- Inconvenience
- Waste time
- Travel around with a foul smell
Gym Shower
Pros
- Convenience
- Save time
- Leave the gym, bathed and fresh
Cons
- Extra baggage
- Look at other naked people
- Possibly pick up germs

I shower at the gym, but we have cubicles with opaque shower curtains. I NEVER let it "all hang out" and don't think anyone should, no matter how attractive they are. When I'm anywhere in the locker room where others can see me I keep my body completely wrapped in a towel. I even use the towel to change under so I don't flash anyone. I will temporarily stand around in my undergarments while I'm changing into my clothes though; I figure that they're not any more revealing than a bikini.
"So I have to suffer and look at rolls of fat, overly hairy bodies and private parts that are ugly to begin with. (Yikes!)"
Some people would feel the same way about you if you were in a public shower with them. You're not perfect ya know!
Anyways, back on topic, I've never taken a shower at school, but I've been surrounded by people who normally take showers at school. I'm comfortable with it, but there was never an opportunity for me to actually take a shower at school. It'd be nice to take advantage of the free showers at school, which I probably will take advantage of in my last year of high school.
I shower at home, all too often I forget to grab flip flops for the gym, and those floors are disgusting. Plus I don't like changing on benches, I like having all the room i want.
Usually at home, I have time to go home and change. I don't have to pack a big bag, get a locker etc. You don't have to worry about the looks you get for taking too long at the mirror. When I lived too far away home to drive home and do it, I did it in the gym. The gym I go to has all stalls so the privacy issue is kind of moot. Even if they didn't have private showers, it wouldn't bother me to be naked in front of people.
I used to wait until I get home. I hated the idea of touching dirty germy cooty water on the floor (for all I know the girl in the stall next to me could have peed in the shower!!!).
However I've gotten pretty accustomed to taking a shower at the gym. Not only do I feel a lot fresher, cleaner, and more relaxed when I leave the gym, but I dont have to walk around and then drive home all stinky and sweaty (which after a while people started saying that my car smelled weird).
So leaving the gym without getting the time to take a how shower not only left me with stressed muscles but a stinky car as well.
So I just bring old flip-flops into the shower so I dont have to stand in used bath water and then bring all of my own scrubs and stuff so I smell nice and clean when I get out.
Flip flops are a must a gym shower room!!! I have rinsed off at the gym... but I don't entirely feel comfortable showering naked at a gym.
i prefer gym showers, since there are about single six restrooms, each with their own private shower ;D
i go to the gym first thing in the morning and don't get home til the evening. so i shower at the gym and continue on with my day. usually i don't hafta worry about seeing others' bodies or others looking at me cuz there aren't many ppl at the time i go
if i'm at the gym it's just a lot easier for me to shower there. then you feel like you have less to do when you get home!
Shower at home, of course ! I HATE showering in the locker room, with all the girls. I have small ass boobies, pretty much an A cup, and I hate getting glares. -.-
@just__one__me@xanga - I like your type
@secondstorm@xanga - The floors in some of these places puts me of. Big time!
@fueledbylaura@xanga - Small boobies ain't such a bad thing. A woman can still have a lot of sex appeal with everything else she has. But i guess if you are showering in the gym and you do get glares (from those show off DD cups and up) stick 2 fingers up and show em ya ass
@stayfitshaun - Yeah ! Who cares. If I get teased let it be. Thanks for saying that. ;D
@stayfitshaun - Why thank you! ;)
@just__one__me@xanga - You are welcome ;)
it's summer now, and i just go home after i go to the gym and shower at home.
during the school year, however, i shower in the girls locker room after working out, because i eat dinner there and study in the library and don't go home until 10 p.m. (it's a boarding school but i'm a day student). so i just leave my shampoo and stuff in my locker. the shower isn't bad i like it just fine
@fueledbylaura@xanga - No prob Laura. Just stating how it needs to be done :) STAY FIT!!
I shower at home. I can't stand the showers/lock rooms at my gym ugh.
@CrispEdges@xanga - No one is perfect yes! You could be an ectomorph or a daddy mammoth. You can even be proud to be either, that's fine. But some people flaunt the proud-ness. Not fine!
i DEFINITELY shower at home after I work out. I can't stand looking at other people naked. Ewww...especially the ones who dries themselves out in the open. Please, I don't need to see your Vajayjay!!!
@pdxqueen@xanga - My point exactly. We have nude beaches for that kinda thing. Keep it out of the gym!
I don't go to the gym, but I would shower at home.
Shower at home ftw.
@MangoWOW@xanga ill keep that in mind @ smelly car
