Today we live in a world of texting. No matter where you go you always can find someone doing it. At the bank, at the movies, at restaurants, it's everywhere!
One place that it shouldn't be is while driving. I can't believe so many people are doing this these days.
Where did common sense go? My mom has mentioned on a few times to me how many people she sees drivers having both hands on the steering wheel and both thumbs on the phone texting.
Honestly, do you play a video game while driving? or Try to paint/draw a picture while driving?
No matter how good at texting you think you are, you have to use a good part of concentration doing it while trying to do something else.
So please if you know someone that texts while driving show them this video and let them know it has to stop.
Recommend this post and you might save someone's life.

that's very true. i don't know how ppl can text and think they can drive. it's a lot of the "younger" generation (like in their early 20s) that I have seen doing this. i do talk on my phone sometimes when i'm driving, but i've never texted. talking on the cell phone while driving is bad enough (yes, i am guilty of this), but i think it takes more concentration to type out a message and then taking to time to also send the message to who you're sending it to, etc. basically, i'd only say ppl should do this when they are parked in a parking lot if they have to do it in their car! either that or if there is another person in the car with you, have them do it for you. risking your own life or especially someone else's isn't worth the x amount of characters that you need to send to that person. i hope that we haven't become too absorbed in our "technology" that we don't have the brains to remember how to be safe drivers!
Thank you, you can never say this enough. I saw this scary as hell PSA that I think will get the message across too. I'm surprised it's not on Xanga. http://www.parentdish.com/2009/08/25/will-bloody-texting-psa-get-the-message-to-teens/?icid=main|htmlws-main|dl1|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.parentdish.com%2F2009%2F08%2F25%2Fwill-bloody-texting-psa-get-the-message-to-teens%2F
I'm ready to support the ban on hands free too because people still get excited & distracted. Now dont get me wrong, I understand there comes times where you need to use the phone & stuff but screaming on the phone over your best friend's cousin's mother's baby daddy & causing an accident isnt an emergency. Pull over or dont call until you park. BTW, I'm 23, not old but I am a safety nut. I lived in 2 states were accidents are common but it wasnt until I lived down here in FL that I see senseless accidents caused my phone usage or other distractions. Sometimes you DO have to nag to get others to listen.
I have friends who do that and I'm terrified to ride in a car with them. I'm guilty of doing it, too, but only at long red lights - the phone is down the second my foot hits the gas pedal. I don't want to gamble with my life - or with others' lives.
It's part of the hypocrisy where everybody thinks that they're good, safe drivers, and that everyone else on the road are the dangerous people not to be trusted with texting.
There is a video I had with this post, but I guess Healthkicker didn't include it. Here it is.

I live in TN and they JUST made it illegal here. I think it's def unsafe. I silence my phone while driving so I'm not tempted to even look at it. Unfortunately, just about EVERYONE I know texts and drives.
They made "txting and driving" illegal. My dad is a paramedic and he complains how texting and driving is the main reason why he still has a job then he does it. I'm glad it's illegal. If I texts while I am driving, I wait until I'm at a stop [Like a red light], then shoot them a text "Driving".
hello,
great going.
regards.

OMG I hate seeing people text and drive. I hate being in the car with people who do it too. Just put the phone down!!! It won't kill you to wait til you get to your destination to txt someone back. If you have to txt them back immediately then pull over and get out of my way. It's like watching a drunk driver. Swerving all over the road b/c they're not paying attention to anything but their phone.
I have a friend who checks her Facebook while driving....really? Is it THAT important that you update your status every 15 mins while driving?! It's nuts.
What does this have to do with Healthkicker? Yes we know texting and driving is dangreous but I don't think this really has a point here. Should we start posting reminders not to drink and drive? Let the advertisments and commericals do the work.
very true. thats very dangeous. and i think smoking and driving is very bad as well.
People should get ticketed for texting while driving.
It's illegal some places. I just saw an email forward of graphic photos of a car crash caused by texting where the man was literally sliced in half at about the waist area.
But I think there are many more things besides texting that contribute to accidents. It is individual to the person how well they can handle multitasking. Some can text w/o looking, and an intense conversation/argument with the person next to them or eating something messy and hot would be more dangerous in comparison.
