So traditionally, I am not a morning person at all. In college, I scheduled all my classes after 10 AM if possible, and in high school, it was tortuous for me to wake up at 6 AM everyday.
But now, I have to wake up at 5-5:30am everyday. Because I can't really be snappy and grumpy for four whole hours and still be considered "professional," I needed to find a solution.
And I did!
The "Dawn Simulator" (above) wakes me up with a bright light that starts dim and slowly gets brighter, just like a sunrise! It's supposed to read just like your internal clock does. I think it just wakes me up a few minutes before my actual alarm so I'm never woken up when I'm in deep sleep, which is what irritates me most. I also hate waking up in the dark. Even though it's a pricey $170 for this little box, it is hands down the best investment ever!
Are you a morning person? Would you invest in a "Dawn Simulator" in order to assure yourself a good nights rest?

no its to expensive, i just use an alarm clock
i just leave my curtains open. the sunrise has woken me up before my alarm clock every day since i arrived at college more than a week ago.
.... I should totally try that.
If it wasn't so expensive i'd deffinatly get one. I am NOT a morning person and every morning I will stay in bed whether im asleep or not until the very last second.
No, I don't think id buy it but it looks neat to try.
i'd love to have one. It's just too expensive. And you can use natural dawn!!!
Its much cheaper to just sleep with your blinds up.
Its a bit expensive, but hey, if it works, why not? Lord knows I'm not a morning person in the slightest, and sleeping with the curtains open isn't an option for me.
i can be a morning person, but i get tired really easily later on in the day if i'm not constantly on my feet!
x
there is always the free alternative..the sun.
If I won the lottery that'd be on my list of toys to buy b/c I hate waking up in the dark (ESPECIALLY during winter) but for that price I'd rather keep saving until I had enough for a vitamix.
Sounds pretty great. I normally just hit the snooze and end up falling back to sleep and I have to be up at 6:30AM-7AM everyday for class...so I've almost missed class because of this before.
I'd buy it.
i wouldn't call myself a morning person, but i wouldn't say i'm not one either.
I don't think anything can help me get up at the time I'm supposed to.
A good idea but it is too expensive. i might try sleeping with the blinds and curtians open though...
That might work for me. It's always easier for me to get up when it's already sunny out. In the winter, it's impossible to wake up because it's so dark and cold! :o) Sounds like a solution!
I'm usually pretty good abotu mornings, though in the winter it does become more difficult :P
Only way I manage to survive the morning is by taking a cold shower to shock the system.
I should really try this.
@Appealing2maiEye@xanga @toastiebear@xanga - - What about in the winter time, when the sun comes up later? Doesn't that cause one to be late for work or school?
@ice_babe_4eva@xanga - i suppouse you are right.
i would then have to say. figure out your sleep cycles and dont black out your room.
i think something like this is also good for people with seasonal depression! (natural light helps seasonal depression, and as a dawn simulator it seems very similar)
i love waking up to sunlight. i normally wake up at around 7-8am because of the light shining into my room. :]
so this would be soooo convenient in the winter.
if i wake up in a deep sleep i'm dead for the rest of the day. i would love to try this.
I think I've seen this at The Doctor's (talk show) YAY. It looks pretty awesome too
ive seen this in a catalouge for cheaper. Smaller, but afordable. I Think its a great idea, i wake up early in the summer because its lighter in my room so this would probably work (:
