  • Do You Work Out With A Partner?

As you may already know or have heard many times before, it’s better to work out with a partner than by yourself. Women’s Health also mentioned how “80 percent of people are more likely to stick with a workout if they have a partner join them." Moreover, you’re more likely to push harder during a workout if you have a partner urging you on.

As for me, I prefer to work out alone. I’ve gone running and exercised at the gym with my friends several times before, but it never really worked for me, especially when it came to setting up a daily time to meet. For instance, I like to work out early in the morning, like REALLY early, around 5: 30 a.m., but a lot of my friends can’t and don’t want to wake up that early and instead prefer exercising in the evening. But working out in the evening was never for me, since that’s when I usually have no energy and feel the most sluggish. Furthermore, my friends and I did not live close to each other, so sometimes my friends would be late, and I hated waiting for them when I could’ve just finished my workout and headed home early.

What about you guys? Do you work out with a partner, or are you better off exercising by yourself? Why?

I prefer to do it alone.  Too much thinking is involved when working with someone.  "Is s/he tired yet?  NO??  Well, I'm pooped!"  lol

  • seriously_meredith@xanga

I rather go by myself but I have gone to the local YMCA with a friend since we both have children the same age. But since I moved back home I don't have anyone to go running with so I am back to going it alone.

I prefer to work out alone.

My morning routine is almost always alone.  I go into stretching and warmups for morning weightlifting 30 minutes after I wake up in the morning, and I don't expect nor want anyone here (unless she's a girlfriend) at 4:30AM anyway.  I go until 6:30AM.  The only times I ever WANT someone with me in the morning like this is if I'm doing close-to 100% 1RM Squats or Bench Presses, which should have a spotter (I almost never do these).

On mountain-running days, I go lighter on the weights, and run up to a nearby volcanic crater to run up to its summit.  This is very very intense, and almost no one wants to do this with me, even when I ask them if they want to join me.  It's a run over uneven rocky terrain, broken here and there by very very steep staircases which are perfect for power sprints on.  I would love to have someone join me for these, because it's a wonderful run and being at the top of a mountain above a city looking out over the Pacific Ocean in the morning is one of the best ways to start a day.

In the evenings, I have no choice but to have workout partners.  There's just no way you can Muay Thai or Shootfight by yourself.  Conditioning, yes.  But you can't spar or roll by yourself, obviously.  I guess you can if you're Tyler Durden, but I'm not quite that insane yet.

    Yet.

    @chow@ireallylikefood - wow you're a beast

if any consolation i'd totally do the volcano sprints. my friends don't like my workouts either, haha

  • laughingcrisis101@xanga

I work out with my boyfriend in the morning, works out really well!

  • chow@ireallylikefood

    @annelaker@xanga - LOL :)  I just love doing what I do :)

I'd gladly do the volcano runs with you.  It's way more fun when you do it with someone.  It's short and intense too -- 15 minutes up, 15 minutes down, and at the top, you get this view:

Took that on my cellphone camera up there at the top.  Pretty, right? :)

Plus after you run down to the bottom, you can take a side-run to the beach and jump in for a swim in the ocean.

  • choosingausernameishard@xanga

well my friend and i take yoga classes together, and we both hit the gym afterward...we don't work out together but we go at the same time to the gym

  • annelaker@xanga

@chow@ireallylikefood - ah that sounds so fun, sick view.... lol i'd be so up for that. i love nature and intense things so thats ideal for me

  • TheScaleDiaries@xanga

I'm by myself, but my boyfriend and I plan to at least go jogging/bikiing/hiking together once we get a place. I'm sure we'll go to the fitness center as well, but I imagine I'll be there more than him (mainly because he's naturally lean and easily builds muscle whereas I take a little more time and work to be at my peak lol)

I prefer to workout alone or with a trainer if I need the added push.  I never work out with friends because I like to get into a zone and block out what's going on around me.

    6 Ways to
    Enjoy Your Breasts

    Your boobs are wily little
seductresses. They poke proactively out of
bikini tops, peek over lacy push-up bras, and flaunt
their fabulousness naked in bed—turning any red-blooded heterosexual male into
    a
    panting pile of mush.

    But what most
women don't realize is that their boobs can give
them heaps of satisfaction too. "The majority of research is geared toward
    keeping breasts
healthy, and not nearly enough is known about how women
    can enjoy their breasts
during sex," says Debby Herbenick, Ph. D., a sexual-health educator at the
    Kinsey
    Institute
    at Indiana University.

A message to the men out there - vibrating panties
are a great **** gift to give your girlfriend, she will remember it forever
and be hot and ready for you whenever she wears her new vibrating
    thong! While "tickling panties"
sound more like the domain of locker-room jokes and dirty limericks, they do in
fact exist and can get you into all kinds of naughty and interesting
    situations.

Want to Learn the Secret Technique to
    Seduce Girls?

Allow me to tell you a truth about
guys and what most of us want from women...

Simply put, we want to get laid!

When we start talking to a girl or bring her out on a date, our ultimate goal
is to get her in the sack. While you might want a relationship or simple
companionship, your first thought is wondering what sex will be like with her.

That's why knowing how to seduce girls is an important thing to know.

The one problem you might encounter is how difficult it can be to transition
from a date to "getting it on" with a woman. I don't have to tell you
that it's frustrating to want a woman, but have no clue how you can make a move
    on her.

Thin line between Sex and Sexuality

    Top—and
    Bottom—237 Reasons to Have Sex

"I wanted to get rid of a headache."

    "I wanted to be nice."

"I wanted to feel closer to God."

"I wanted to change the topic of conversation"

These are some of the reasons researchers found that people engage in sex. Two
clinical psychology professors at the University of Texas conducted a study,
published in the August issue of the Archives of Sexual Behaviour, to find out
people’s top reasons for having sex.

Professors Cindy Meston and David Buss performed their study in two parts.
First they asked 444 people, from age 17 to 52, to give "all the reasons
you can think of why you, or someone you have known, has engaged in sexual
intercourse in the past." This netted them 715 reasons, which they
narrowed down (after removing duplicate answers) to 237.

I prefer to work out alone. I hated waiting for people and I hated when I wasn't ready to leave yet and whoever came with me was whining. I just wanna put my iPod on and zone out. It's so relaxing for me.

  • methodElevated@xanga

I love when I'm able to workout with my sister.  We are extremely competitive and push each other a lot, and at the same time, we understand each other's limits.  I don't get to spend nearly as much time with her as I'd like since I live across the state now.

I'm currently visiting her for a week, and we've already run one 5k race together.  There's another one this Saturday that we're going to run, too.  I joined her at her gym the other day and have been exercising there on my own when she's at work.  It's been a lot of fun. :)

When I'm at home, I am pretty much forced to workout alone because my boyfriend refuses to do it with me (he feels bad because he can't keep up with me).  Once in a great while, we'll go bike riding, take a walk or play racquetball together, though.  It's always a nice change of pace when I'm able to exercise with someone else because over 95% of the time all year round, I do it by myself.

  • arenfro@xanga

I tend to push myself a bit harder when I'm alone, but I do have a workout partner that I go to the gym with 3-4 days a week.  I usually go alone on the weekends or when our schedules don't work out to make it 5-6 days altogether.

  • thin_indie@xanga

I love working out with a partner, but there is always some time conflict, either we can't find a good time to go together, or they don't want to workout as long as I do, I am usually better off alone.

  • hansoyan@xanga

i like working out alone because usually when i'm working out with someone, there are always issues that get me distractd

  • anonymous

Sometimes I like working out alone, other times with a partner. In the winter months I find it help motivate me on cold wet days to have a partner - neither of you wants to wimp out in front of the other!

  • Yukihimekumiko@xanga

I would sometimes bike or run with friends, but i prefer exercising alone. Not that i get really serious either way. I just feel somewhat awkward when i'm exercising with someone else. Especially during really hard jogging. But then again, i do push myself harder when i'm with others, because usually i get tired before them, but force myself to keep going at their pace. I also like to go early sometimes and no one i know could/ really come with me at those times

  • npr32486@xanga

I prefer a partner, more motivation especially while running.  Though lately, I've had to go without since I'm new, but I still get a decent workout in and find someone around to spot me on the heavy stuff.

  • xSerendipity713x@xanga

Nope. I rather workout by myself.
