Poll: Are You a Swine Flu Faker?
Fears about the H1N1 virus are still running high. If you even think you might have Swine Flu, no one wants to get near you. Your employer will tell you to stay far away from work until you're better. While many people really will be effected by the virus this flu season, many others will see it as a great excuse to get out of work.
Would you use the Swine Flu as an excuse to get out of work when you were healthy?
We'd love to hear your responses.
Is this wrong?

No I wouldn't because it would only look bad on me in the end anyway
It's not wrong in my opinion, but it'll be wrong for your budget. Some companies only have certain amount of sick days combined with vacation days :P
no. I don't have sick days and I would rather be working and making money. I want to work. :D
I don't work, but I think it would be terrible to lie about getting swine flu. Don't make up excuses for the occasional laziness. Who knows, you might end up actually getting the damn thing as some sort of karmic retribution.
I have had the H1N1 virus...it sucks. And no I didn't fake it. My temp was 102 and I was so dizzy, whenever I stood up I almost threw up. Yeah.
I'm the kind of person that simply can't tell a lie. Maybe a partial lie, but not one like that. I don't work anyway, but I wouldn't do that.
Although if I felt I was getting sick I would at least ask if I should go in or not, because the early stages of a sickness are supposedly the most contagious.
Nope. Had it. Hated being away from work. Some people LIKE their jobs.
Nope.
xo
Is it wrong to lie and screw over your employer? Are you serious?
Ha. I wouldn't lie about Swine Flu because if i do get it, i'll famous for getting it twice then health officials will find me out D: Just tell your employer you're sick.
Lol, I had the swine flu but I was and still am currently unemployed. I felt like I was drowning...and I wonder what might've happened to me if I hadn't eaten and drank nothing but garlicked spicy foods and orange juice, elevated my head when sleeping, and taken the decongestion regular flu medicine (which I normally never have to take when I catch something). That all said, it was rather short lived for me. Five days. A whole day longer than the regular flu for me, and I felt about as crappy as I think people normally do with the regular flu. *shrugs*
I've only had to call in sick once in my whole life, and I was truly sick. I'd rather work as often as I can...not skip out by faking an illness (well-feared one or not).
If people at my work use it to get out of work, I wouldn't mind, cuz then I'd just take their hours. lol
Hmm.. thanks for the tip. I think I'll use that to get out of my midterm..
hah.. jk.. It's sociology anyway, uber-easy. One of my professors at my college made anyone that sneezed even once leave the class room.
I know some college students doin' it. XD
Of course it is wrong! If you aren't sick and you say you are, that's LYING. And that is wrong! What is WRONG with people these days who don't think that's WRONG?
I wouldn't fake H1N1 anyway because that may just come up and bite you on the ass later on.... when you DO get it how many people are going to think you got it again? But I am not going to get it anyway.... because the whole thing is scaring everyone and it's really pissing me off how big of a deal they are making it seem. So people have died? Yeah so have people with cancer and AIDS. Wash your hands, cover your cough and stay healthy. And most of the people who have croaked have had other underlying conditions anyway. So people: don't freak out. Don't run out to the CVS and demand your damn vaccine because you need it and if you don't get it you'll die. It's just a phase and when it's over everyone will be like "why was I skipping my JOB [which I get paid to do] to pretend I had this?"
oh, by the way related to this post: if you faked having the swine flu and skipped work, that might just land you in the unemployment market, which is another great PROBLEM america is facing today!
damn am I cynical!
I had it back when I worked at McDonald's. Showed up with it too... then again I showed up to class this week with a fever of 102 so I wouldn't have to make up a couple of exams later.
No
No, I wouldn't. And it is wrong. Not just because it's H1N1, but it's wrong to call in and lie about being sick just so you don't have to go into work, and then force someone ELSE to come in on their day off to cover your shift when there is nothing wrong with you. It's understandable if you really are sick, but to lie about it is just a stupid thing to do, and it makes the person an inconsiderate jerk.
But, that's just my opinion. I'm sure there are a lot of people who feel that it is perfectly acceptable if you need an extra day off, or if you had to cover for someone else during your day off, to call in sick when you aren't really sick. I know people like that, too! That doesn't change my opinion of it, though. To me, there is no good excuse for calling in sick when you're not or with a fake problem. :p
I wouldn't lie to skip class or work. When it comes to class, I'm the type that really has to be sick before plans get canceled.
I haven't had H1N1. I have a really strong immune system, so I'm not too worried about it, since I only get sick maybe two or three times a year. And the times I do get sick during the year are usually due to a cold.
nahh lol
but you should if ya want to. haha.
that would be wrong, to say you have swine flu to get out of work. Considering how many people really have it or have had it i also think it's kind if insulting to them to fake it
no way. Karma Baby.
No. I don't see the point in lying about it. If someone fakes it, he/she will have to take sick days, anyway. Might as well take the sick days and not joke about something serious. Being sick isn't a joke, regardless of whether or not it's swine flu.
Ethics 101: Do not lie. Do not violate your contract (you agree to be there except on certain conditions). So, yes, it is wrong.
That doesn't even address the fact that it simply adds to hysteria. There's enough of that now as it is.
