What's Your Favorite Health Snack?
This post was submitted from an anonymous user.I'm trying to get healthier but I can't help and snack basically all day long. I'm hoping to try and find some healthier snacks so that way, when I'm eating in front of the TV or while I'm on the phone, I don't have to feel so guilty about it!I love anything with granola or dried fruit, but it doesn't always hit the sweet tooth that I have. What is a good, healthy snack?

Definitely the 100cal Pack Kettle Popcorn. Since its popcorn, even at 100cals, the volume is good so you actually feel like your snack lasts longer than 2 secs and 2 bites
Its a lil sweet and salty.. very good. I'm not a fan of their butter 100cal pack,.. its missing something. But the Kettle corn,.. u don't feel like you're missing out at all.
Raw bok choy stalks, raw red bell peppers, a nice juicy orange, cherries (mmm, I love cherries), grapes, watermelon, blueberries... I know raw fruits/veggies can be less convenient than prepackaged snacks, so the trick is to prepare little snack-size baggies of them in advance, so that when you get the munchies, you can just grab a bag and eat them.
raw nuts and seeds, frozen whole blueberries, thin sliced apple or pear with cheese, peanut butter and banana, no fat cottage cheese and wedge of cataloupe, raw organic cocoa beans, spinach salad with guacamole dressing
does salad count?
try nuts or yogurt raisins.
strawberries, or freeze some yogurt, that'll take forever to eat!
@Deliver_Me_123@xanga - high sugar = regular kettle corn
1) Peanut Butter Granola Bars from Trader Joe's (there's actually peanut butter spread, not toasted in like Nature Valley's)
2) Vanana (Vanilla / Banana) yogurt (again from Trader Joe's) with sliced bananas.
3) Lightly-salted (whole) cashews and Brazil nuts
4) Banana
5) Smoothie: yogurt, egg product, frozen mango & papaya, yogurt for texture, milk, juice.
Raisins.
granola isn't as healthy as everyone thinks it is. it's very high in fat and sugar.
i love fruits and vegetables.
hummus & carrots
air popped popcorn
yogurt with apple slices
dates are good for a sweet tooth
make your own granola bars!
cheese cubes
hard boiled eggs
peanut butter on bananas
sesame sticks (not super healthy but better than chips!)
tamari roasted almonds
@soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga - it depends what kind you are eating. if it's the sugar laden kind from the cereal aisle then no doubt it is high in sugar. the fat in granola is usually good fat though. You can make your own with oats, nuts (slivered almonds are good), flax seeds, dried fruit (I like cherriess as they are a good source of iron and Vi C), drizzle of honey, a pinch of sea salt. Stir well and bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned.
strawberries and plain non fat yogurt!
or
a slice of whole wheat bread and your favourite spread (whatever you do: NO NUTELLA)!
Go Lean Granola <3
i know this sounds weird, but i really like to eat frozen sweet corn (the kind you can get in bags off the cob at the supermarket)....yumm! :)
it's got lots of fiber, tastes sweet (from natural sugars) and fills you up too!
you should definitely try it!!
@annabelle807@xanga - great idea., we do that with frozen peas too
I've heard that chocolate isn't too bad as long as it's dark chocolate. I love fruit smoothing (with no enhancers or sugar added).
@xox_blackroses_xox@xanga - Oh but Nutella is SO good. I had some today on some bananas. Not healthy, but definitely delicious!
frozen grapes are really good:) and take a while to eat.
skim milk ricotta cheese sweetened with a little no cal sweetener topped with your favorite fruit (i like berries on mine) is just soooo good! it tastes like some kind of indulgent dessert but it actually very good for you, low calorie, low in fat and sugar, but you feel satisfied :) plus, ricotta is packed with protein ;)
@earthymama@xanga - hummus with carrots is the BEST! so are dates and popcorn and yogurt with apples. wow..is it obvious i love food :p
oh, chobani greek yogurt is also really good..and has a tonnn of more protein than regular yogurt..so it's really satisfying and keeps you from getting hungry later. so it might curb extra snacking.
The best balanced snack is turkey jerky, an apple and almonds. A quick and easy way to get a healthy balance of macronutrients. This can help support general health or weight loss.
If I just have to snack, I have a Boca (veggie) Burger pattie with no bread. I have it with a little mustard and maybe a tomato slice and eat with a fork. It's actually quite filling and only 70 calories.
cottage cheese!
