A new study by The British Journal of Nutrition found that people with the highest concentration of omega 3 fatty acids in their blood weighed the lightest. Not only did these people weigh less, but they also had the slimmest waistlines and narrowest hip measurements. The jury is still out as to how, exactly, omega 3s work their magic. Some people speculate that the fatty acids fight inflammation, others believe they trigger a hormone related to a sense of fullness. Either way, eating more foods with omega 3s could give your regular diet a boost.
Foods high in omega 3s include: salmon, flaxseeds, walnuts, soybeans, shrimp, and winter squash (baked). If you’re really into this, try a few spoonfuls of cod liver oil each day; it’s packed with the fatty acid. If you can’t stomach this idea, however, order the salmon role and some edamame and call it a night.
Do you already eat many of these foods? Would you consider adding them to your diet now?

man, I love sushi. I think I'm already covered in this area... :)
Regular staples at my house!
You can also just get omega-3 in tablet form. Salmon fillets are expensive, but they're so good. I try to get as much natural o-3's as possible but its difficult on a tight budget.
I'm always snacking on walnuts and soymilk. I thought only fish had omega-3 fatty acids, lol.
Refer to this post (http://www.healthkicker.com/702053151/what-fish-oil-do-you-take-and-why/) on how to choose a fish oil, if you choose to supplement :D
That salmon looks SO good!
i'm addicted to soybeans and salmon! ^^
Proof of what I have been feeding my readers over the last few months. Good to hear about this. Just time to get your omega 3 on if you are not already doing so!!

I this healthkicker or lovelyish? Now, it may be true that small hip and waist measurements= good health...but it might not. A lot of people would eat crushed glass if they thought it would lower their jeans size.
I'm not knockin omega3's...but I'd look for a different criteria before I started assuming more was automatically better.
on the other hand anything that ensures I'll get another season out of my skinny leg jeans gotta be good...right?
My parents take the Omega3 supplements. Those pills are hugeee so I can't take them :( I'm really picky when it comes to food, but I do love shrimp!
dr. oz recommended to put cod liver oil in your orange juice to make the taste bareable.
@driftingpebble@xanga - Actually, a smaller waistline is a big indicator of health. Because belly fat is one of the most dangerous types of fat in terms of heart disease and diabetes, the AMA has actual waist measurements that men and women should adhere to for optimal health. I think that for women it's under 28 inches. For men, it's a bit higher.
@lindsaya - Thanks!n THAT's the kind of info that matters. I recently read of a study where a correlation had been found between SKINNY thighs and reduced heart health and life expectancy, so I know less isn't always better. I think I'll go measure my waist...
Well I eat salmon pretty much daily... and I definitely do eat winter squash every day (pumpkin for breakfast & spaghetti squash @ dinner)... oh and I eat grass-fed red meats every day which also contain these fatty-acids! Plus I also take Omega-3 (DHEA/EPA) pills every single day so I think I am good in this department!!
