New Study Finds That BPA is Linked to Erectile Dysfunction
BPA, which stands for Bisphenol A, is a chemical found in hard, clear plastics like the kind used in baby bottles. It came under fire a few years ago when studies found links between BPA and brain damage, hyperactivity, and other disorders in children. However, at the time, most research groups felt that these low levels of BPA would not have an impact on adults. That seems to have changed with the release of a study that found a connection between exposure to BPA and erectile dysfunction in men.
This new study was performed on a group of 630 men. Of these men, 200 worked in factories that produced BPA; the other 400 did not. Among the men who worked with BPA, the risk of having erectile dysfunction was 7 times greater than it was among the group not exposed to BPA. The study also found that the greater a worker’s exposure to BPA, the more likely he was to experience erectile dysfunction. Researchers believe that this is because BPA mimics the effects of estrogen in the body and blocks testosterone.
It is important to note that the men who work in these factories are exposed to levels of BPA that are 50 times higher than what the average man encounters. It may well be that the average level of BPA exposure is not significant enough to cause sexual dysfunction, but more studies will certainly need to be done on this important topic.
Do you steer clear of products with BPA or do you think there is too much hype about it?

I definitly worry about BPA. It's not something to shrug off.
