Poll: Do You Volunteer?
Studies show that volunteering increases your brains production of endorphins.
This extra endorphin boost lowers stress and decreases a sense of isolation. Volunteer because you want to help others, but enjoy the health benefits that it gives you!
Do you volunteer on a regular basis? What type of volunteer work do you do?

I volunteer through my school's Social Justice 12 class, Me to We and LOVE (Leave Out Violence.)
I find it enjoyable to speak on issues in social activism.
I volunteer at a library, Teensreach & I love it. I met so many great people.
I used to volunteer at a thrift store. Once I get my trailer moved in down town I am going to start again at the thrift a few blocks from there.
nope >< i used to though
I've done some volunteer work. The biggest things are stewarding at dog shows and a few years ago I was a volunteer for a governor campaign for about 4.5 days. It's fun and I learn a lot.
I tutor two or three hours weekly for a local high school. I also volunteered for a political party during the last federal elections and participated in a volunteering trip to Ecuador two summers ago.
I used to volunteer alot when I was a teenager, mostly political and through my dad's work. Didn't do it for years as I got tired of the abuse I got from ungrateful jerks after the parades who though they could treat us like crap over soda and hot dogs.
But I have started volunteering again recently, first was the All Star Game FanFest and then was an event through Make-a-wish.
Yes I do.
I don t think it makes me happier tho.
i'm not volunteering yet
but me and my friend we're planning to open a subsidiary in our city for abandoned children and volunteer to take care of them (us and others who want to volunteer) ^^
I used to. I can't find the time now anymore, but I would love to get involved with the humane society and maybe the Tender Wishes Foundation again.
Compulsively. I am over worked by an organization THAT: Plans monthly socials for teens with and without disabilities, runs a life skill and employment skill workshop for teens with and without disabilities, is forming a body image workshop for girls with and without disabilities, does anti-bullying assemblies at local schools, does "Journey to Hate Free Millenium" presentations, talks to high school and middle school classes about Shaken Baby Syndrome, as well as launching and participating in MANY projects to prevent SBS, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Lead Poisoining, and Toxoplasmosis.
I DO get paid over the summer, when I work at their camp.
Yeah... I volunteer when the mood hits me.
I used to volunteer to feed the homeless, but I do not presently volunteer anywhere.
Volunteer Fire Fighter 25 yrs., Volunteer Chairman for Crimestoppers Board 2 yrs., Volunteer Fire Chief 2 yrs. now I volunteer to retire from volunteering.
I've been volunteering for the American Red Cross mobile blood drives for the past few months. Since the weekend shifts are the first to go, I've only gotten to have one shift per month. I've worked 3 shifts at the canteen and enjoyed it very much. A lot of sweet people to meet. When I see senior citizens donating blood, how can any young able-bodied individual not?
Donating blood for the first time made me feel really good about myself because I have a huge fear of needles.
(I've donated twice thus far.) Everyone should consider doing it as well...you'll never know when you'll be needing blood yourself. Anything can happen...
I volunteer, if I have an available time..
Hi nice Blog, maybe I volunteer!
I used to, at the animal shelter where i live.
I volunteer at my local Age Concern. I like the feeling that I'm giving back to society, afterall, I've used a lot of resources (and still do) myself. Personally I feel it's great for my self-esteem and to get me out of bed and give me something to focus on other then my own problems. But mostly the charity does some fantastic work with the elderly who are often, sadly an overlooked section of society, who actually have alot to offer us in terms of wisdom and experience. We learn alot when we listen to people who have been around longer than we have.
i've been volunteering at a summer camp for a week in august since the summer before my freshmen year at highschool and now i also volunteer at a soup kitchen near where i live :]
volunteer at a homeless shelter weekly for the past 3 years... my favorite part of the week.
yes! I volunteer for a homeless families shelter, American Cancer Society, Solid Rock Foundation, Univ of Colorado and so much more! i love giving back to the community
