Have A Coffee Break Before You Break A Sweat
According to researchers from Indiana University at Bloomington, “a pre-workout caffeine jolt reduces the severity of exercise-induced asthma symptoms." They say having “2 cups of coffee an hour before a run was as effective as an inhaler at opening sufferers’ airways.” (Source from Self Magazine). I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but maybe I should give it a try since I usually tend to run out of breath so quickly whenever I go running or swimming.
Do you usually drink coffee before or after your workout? Do you know of any other good breathing techniques, or other ways that can help improve your breathing?

Caffeine does actually stimulates me to work out more.
I always have a coffee break. It's like an energy boost for me.
This works well, but only on runs up to 10 miles.
Caffeine can help boost workouts for some, but you also have to be very careful about how much you drink and how long before the workout. The caffeine already increases the risk of heart attack on its own, and I've heard that it is even more of a risk when you combine exercise with caffeine because your heart beats faster and needs more blood. Caffeine reduces the flow of red blood cells in the body when working out, and that flow is supposed to increase during physical activity to make up for the less oxygen taken in while exercising.
I wish I knew this last year when I was utterly obsessed with running
now I'm just kinda "meh" about it :/
I always wake up in the morning, have a cup of coffee, and then exercise. I never actually noticed whether it helped your breathing, but it did get me hyped up to exercise. ^-^
I drink coffee every morning, but not before I exercise. I'll give it a try :)
I have noticed recently that when I drink coffee before I exercise, I run faster and longer.
Yes. And pathetically enough...sometimes DURING.
But coffee makes me pee, would that still happen?? lol
hahahahaha umm...vaping a lil thc. it opens up your lung sacs.
i drink 2 16oz black coffees about 30min before a 3 mile walk and it really does make a difference in your excercise. Makes me more into the workout instead of half-assin it like i would if i just had water.
I drink RED LINE!! Wo Wo! But... I definitely have exercise induced asthma!! And coffee does it to me as well, so I believe this study is "crap"! ha ha!
Too much coffee can lower your immunity. Find out at

yes this works. I feel more energized overall and get my espresso shot about 1.5 hrs before my workout.
