Kymaro Body Shaper: Another Lazy Way To Be Slimmer?
    source

I was flipping through the TV channels real late at night and typically there's nothing but infomercials on at this time. I came across this odd infomercial promoting this product called Kymaro Body Shaper. It's basically your modern day corset. Its target audience are those who are bigger and have front and back bulges when wearing tight clothing (and also for some slimmer people who have a bit of a gut too).

In my opinion, this is pretty much lazy. Fat people complain about being fat and do nothing about it. They typically just want to take easy ways out without having to pump a finger muscle. It's ridiculous. And another thing, bigger people shouldn't be wearing tight clothing to begin with. No offense but it just makes you look bigger. I can't say how annoyed I get when bigger people don't wear the right clothing suited for their bodies. It basically shouts out your wish to look and feel thin....when you're not. If you want to stop being fat, well then do it the right way and work out and eat healthy like other people do.

Is the Kymaro Body Shaper just another lazy technique of looking slimmer without having to lose weight?

body slimmers are a pretty normal part of everyday life

    This entry is ridiculous.

"Fat people complain about being fat and do nothing about it."

No, not "fat people", because fat people are still human beings, and their not all alike just because they have a weight issue. Some are too, but I know plenty who struggle with their weight, and do a lot to try and change it and have a tough time. At the same time, I know plenty of people who are just naturally thin and never get any exercise at all, which seems pretty lazy to me.

"And another thing, bigger people shouldn't be wearing tight clothing to begin with. No offense but it just makes you look bigger. I can't say how annoyed I get when bigger people don't wear the right clothing suited for their bodies."

That may be the case, b\ut guess what... IT'S NOT YOUR BODY. If someone bigger wants to wear tight clothing and they're comfortable with it, then they should. You hardly have a right to be annoying when someone ELSE makes a choice for themselves that they have every right to make. No one else decides what you should and shouldn't wear, so why should you judge other people for making that decision for themselves. It's only fair that they should wear what they want to.

"If you want to stop being fat, well then do it the right way and work out and eat healthy like other people do."

Sometimes that's not enough, you know. There are plenty of factors that can make it extremely difficult to shed the pounds. Medications, hormonal imbalance, depression, sleep deprivation, eating disorders etc. Either way you don't just suddenly "stop being fat". It's a long time consuming process, so how do you know the "fat" people you're judging aren't in the process of losing weight? You don't. Not to mention for some, it's a life-long struggle. Just because you have it so easy, doesn't give you the right to judge others about their weight.

So to answer you're question, I don't think so. I mean, it's the kind of thing that would be useful for looking slimmer QUICKLY, since you can't just up and lose 10 pounds in a day. For those who aren't quite comfortable their bodies, it seems like it'd be a good thing to help boost their confidence.

Cool story, bro. I really would have liked to have read your entry. Too bad it's too sizist. :\ Generalizations are not cool. Neither is ignorance. Then again, the two often go hand in hand.

    @AGreatPerhaps@xanga - I love this comment. :)

@AGreatPerhaps@xanga - Yeah, thanks for writing such a good response!  I found the tone of this post unnecessarily mean and derisive.

Body shapers aren't a "lazy" way to appear thinner.  What makes wearing body shapers any different from wearing vertical stripes or sucking in one's stomach?  Are all people who try to appear thinner than they are lazy?
  • tsunami_kid@xanga

wtf? lol did you even read what you wrote before you posted it? do you try to sound like an idiot or are you really so unfortunate that this is actually what you honestly think about people? this is rediculous, i disagree with every word you said, and its really insulting to every overweight person out there

i know some overweight girls who are far from "lazy" and far from not doing anything to loose weight. if someone wants to buy a damn corset to feel better in their own skin, then who the hell are you to judge?

  • sugar_mama@xanga

    @AGreatPerhaps@xanga - right on!

as for the author, you should re-read your post. you sound like an idiot.

  • soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga

surprisingly, i don't really have a problem with this. if you have a few bumps that need smoothed out, why not smooth them out? a lot of pregnant women have trouble losing their baby belly, i don't see a problem with wearing this to make that belly not appear so prominant.

you know what i really have a problem with? plastic surgery as a solution to weight loss. i mean, i guess if it's your last resort, then go for it, but if you haven't even tried? come on.

  • CrAdLe2daGrAve@xanga

WHO THE FUCK CARES IF FAT PEOPLE WANNA WEAR TIGHT CLOTHES MAYBE THEY'RE COMFORTABLE WEARING TIGHT CLOTHES I MEAN IF THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT THEN THEY WOULDN'T HAVE WORN TIGHT CLOTHES IN THE FIRST PLACE! AND IT'S NOT YOUR BODY SO WHY ARE YOU EVEN COMPLAINING OR GIVA DAMN WHAT THEY WEAR AND SUCH?! IF YOU DON'T LIKE FAT PEOPLE THEN DON'T LOOK AT THEM! GEEZ! CALM DOWN! AS FOR THE BODY SHAPER SHIT I CONSIDERED GETTING ONE AND WEAR IT AS I EXERCISE IS THAT A PROBLEM? YOU CAN USE THE SHAPER AND DO EXERCISE AT THE SAME TIME WHY NOT?! AND PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD IS ALWAYS ON THE GO THEY PROBABLY DON'T HAVE TIME TO EXERCISE?! AND IT'S NOT FAT PEOPLE'S FAULT THAT THEIR FAT IT'S TECHNOLOGY THAT MADE US LAZY! SHIT LOOK AT Wii FIT! THAT'S MAKING US LAZY TOO! WE CAN EXERCISE WITHOUT HAVING TO ACTUALLY GO OUT AND EXERCISE!

  • xsteph_ox@xanga

I still looked like the first picture after I put mine on. Maybe I needed a smaller size to tighten things up more?

  • xsteph_ox@xanga

Anyone notice how that ladies posture miraciously becomes a whole lot better in the second picture? lol thats another way to look slimmer!

  • whateverwords@xanga
  • LoneDarkness@xanga

Just like with any other stereotype, it is wrong to throw everyone that the stereotype aims at into the same category. Not all "fat" people are lazy. You don't know if that bigger person is actually smaller than they used to be and in the active process of losing weight, and maybe the slimming body modifier helps give them the motivation to keep going.

Most of the time, when a bigger woman (for the sake of arguement lets say female) sees how much better they look with the body shaper, they are more likely to work to look like that without one.

Also, to assume all skinny people work for it is also not true. Many times, a naturally more active metabolism takes over and so that person could literally eat all day and not work "a finger muscle" and not gain a pound.

Granted there are some people out there that do try to take the easy way out and not want to work out and use these things to feel better, who are you to judge them on their life choice? It does not affect you in any way other than (God-forbid) make you have to see something that may not be immediately pleasing to your eyes.

This post is so ignorant that its a shame that anyone had to be subject to this completely worthless rant.

  • seechrissycheer@lovelyish

@AGreatPerhaps@xanga - Agreed! Thank you for pointing that all out.

This post is ignorant and downright mean. you can't just judge people like that. not all obese/overweight people are lazy. you are a complete hypocrite and shouldn't have even posted this. It is not your choice as to what people a certain size wear. Just because someone is not a certain size you seem to want everyone to be does not make them lazy. how about you get out in the real world?

  • MomWithoutaMinivan@xanga

Dude- I'm fat and have been striving to change it for a long time. I eat well and do cardio & strength training. I drink lots of water, eat plenty of whole grains, etc, etc, etc. I don't have an eating disorder and have no idea why the weight isn't going anywhere. Sorry, but when I wore baggy clothing it just made me look 4 sizes larger. Not cool. And unfortunately, I'm not the only on out there with these issues. Way to sound like an ignorant asshole.

  • OrdinaryInverted@xanga

I'd totally try one of these! I just had a baby recently & I've been wishing for some sort of corset-like thing to help pull all the stretched muscles back together.

  • sick_of_dreams@xanga

Um My mom wears one of these and she is only a size 6.

She wears it for 2 reasons: A) she has had 2 kids and now has lose skin and this helps to smooth it out. B) this eliminates all panty lines.

    @AGreatPerhaps@xanga - :)

  • azashi@xanga

if you wear that under all your clothes, and it goes all the way up to your shoulders as a one piece, daaaang you're gonna have a hard time taking it off quickly to pee.

  • angelwingfive@xanga

Oh, geez. Do you have nothing better to do than criticize people who want nothing more than to just temporarily look better in clothing?

  • i_heart_tha_80s@xanga

that looks really constricting and uncomfortable. just eat healthy and exercise.

plus it looks like a hassle for when you go to the bathroom...
  • DAMN_itsz_KRYSIE@xanga

OMG, my mother just ordered this! Her and my grandma both wear girdles (which don't work btw), and I think it is ridiculous! Stop wasting your time on these items! Work out in the gym and then you will see results!

  • the_rocking_of_socks@xanga

@AGreatPerhaps@xanga - Thank you!!  Exactly what I was thinking.

  • thisiswhereItellyoueverything@xanga

Um, people could wear this during the day to look and feel better about themselves,
and then take it off when they're working out.

I don't see anything productive coming from this ENTRY, other than hate speech.

Personally I agree that everyone should do what they can to stay fit and healthy, but there are many psychological and physical reasons (probably in that order) that cause people to be overweight.

I don't really see how attacking people is helping them.

If you're so concerned with other people's weight loss, maybe you should become a nutritionist or personal trainer instead of just being a bitch.
