Even though it’s called “Turkey Day,” we all know that the best part of Thanksgiving dinner is what goes with the turkey: stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie. This MSNBC post about the 13 Fattiest Thanksgiving Creations, pays homage to lots of these dishes in all of their unhealthy glory. While these 13 dishes are certainly unhealthy (Krispy Kreme pudding anyone?), not all of them are Thanksgiving classics. I felt inspired to make my own, more traditional list. Here are my picks for the unhealthiest Thanksgiving indulgences:
1)
Bacon and Cheese Mashed PotatoesAs if it weren’t enough to add 8 slices of bacon and a ½ pound of cheese to your mashed potatoes, this recipe also calls for heavy cream, sour cream, and lots of salt. But wow does it sound amazing!
2)
White Castle StuffingIn this even-unhealthier version of stuffing, you substitute 18 White Castle Hamburgers (with buns) for bread. Why? I’m not really sure.
3) Turbaconducken
I found this recipe on Bacon Today, so it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s wildly unhealthy. You may have heard of the Turducken: a chicken is stuffed into a duck, which is then stuffed into a turkey. Now imagine that monstrosity wrapped in a thick armor of bacon and you’ve got the Turbaconducken. If that’s not unhealthy enough for you, I’m sure you can find a way to deep-fry the whole thing.
4) Mac and Cheese Cakes
No Thanksgiving is complete without a little macaroni and cheese. This year, have it deep-fried to really push the boundaries of good health!
5) Left-Over Sandwich
The least healthy-and most beloved-Thanksgiving tradition is the late-night sandwich. Pile a white bread roll with turkey and all of the above-mentioned sides and then drench it in gravy. Perfection!
What do you indulge in on Thanksgiving? What is the unhealthiest holiday dish you’ve ever come across?

lol...well, I'm having a vegan dinner so I hope its a lot healthier than that!
I make an amazing vegan reproduction of my mothers sausage and sage stuffing...and its got like half the fat!
I make a mean Mississippi Mud Cake on occasion. It uses a whole box of powdered sugar and a bunch of regular sugar.
those all sound insanely nasty!!!!!!!! GROSS! I indulge in moderation in just about everything
eww.
Could not get past the bacon turkey..... Looks disgusting but bacon *Insert Homer Simpson-donut drooling moment here* but I guess the swine have taken revenge on us for eating all that bacon. :D jkz jkz
Turkey is good source of protein. It is healthy to have grain, vegetable and fruit to go with it.

I think ALL of those are gross except for the leftover turkey sandwich. But um, I don't put gravy on mine. It's more of a light mayo with lots of lettuce thing.
PIE. Haha ^^
There is this Lithuanian dish called kugela that is sinfully fattening...grated potatoes with bacon, sour cream and eggs, and all the bacon grease from the entire pound of bacon is included...
and most stuffings are outrageously fatty, like a cup of butter in them...
The only thing on that list that sounds tasty is the fried mac n' cheese.
Those are not foods my family has... but they don't sound really that good, except the bacon and cheddar mashed potatoes.
All of above sounds gross
disgusting, our thanksgiving foods are all pretty healthy except for the cheesecake & pumpkin pie my mom always has for dessert... sooo fattening
Woah! Is the turkey in the picture made out of uncooked bacon strips?! Wow...
I hate bacon, so I probably wouldn't indulge in any of those. Same for the hamburger stuffing- that's just wrong... I'm more of a pie-person on Thanksgiving. =)
the mashed potatoes sound good.
Well, you can't deep fry turducken; turkey can be deep fried because it's mostly hollow.
too bad
I usually just put salt, pepper, and mayoniase on the turkey sandwich and the first thing sounds so good. I usually don't eat seconds,so,yeah.
disgusting. i can't believe the things some people eat
oooh maaan
toasted turkey sandwhich
- bread (toasted
-mayo
- turkey
- obv stuffing
salt n pepper
soooo fatty. but flippin delish.
wowo.....i don't think this is really a "traditional' list... I don't know anyway who makes these!
traditional is... turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, patatoes, pumpkin pie.
typical things that everyone has on thanksgiving.
I like our original stuff thought.
oreo balls. reeses pie. homemade apple pie(the drink not the food) and omg my aunts beans and chessy patatoes are amazing...
That picture made me wanna puke.
What I eat at Thanksgiving is turkey, a tiny it of gravy, a little bit of mashed potatoes, yams, green beans and a crescent roll or two with butter. Of course, there's the stuffing and cranberry sauce, but I hate both things !
Then pumpkin pie.
Nothing at ALL like that. I know I would love to have coagulated beef blood burger stuffing to be a part of my Thanksgiving dinner. Ugh. My unhealthiest thing is probably the yams or the crescent rolls...
So all of you say it sounds disgusting, but that's because you've obviously never eaten it before! :)
Fatty, check. Salty, check. Calories, check. YUMMY, check.
But the worst holiday food (at my house) is the homemade sugar cookies, caramel pecan tarts, and bunt cake. My aunt makes the meanest desserts ever, and we snack on those for hours while we watch movies.
Plus we have added Swedish meatballs and rolls, turkey with gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, salad with loads of dressing, peas and carrots, wine, pumpernickel bread bowl filled with spinach dip, chips, and uh, there's more.
SO.
We pretty much all die of heart attacks a day later.
this made me want to throw up >< those all sound like they would look/taste like shit
umm i dont know anyone who makes any of those things. the cheesy bacon potatoes sound good, but we always just have plain mashed potatoes with gravy. sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, and the turkey (of course) and then for dessert we have apple, pecan and key lime pies (no one really likes pumpkin in our family) and then yes, we usually have the turkey sandwich, but we just use turkey and miracle whip. we dont put all the other stuff on it.
