  • The Most Fattening Thanksgiving Dishes

Even though it’s called “Turkey Day,” we all know that the best part of Thanksgiving dinner is what goes with the turkey: stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie. This MSNBC post about the 13 Fattiest Thanksgiving Creations, pays homage to lots of these dishes in all of their unhealthy glory. While these 13 dishes are certainly unhealthy (Krispy Kreme pudding anyone?), not all of them are Thanksgiving classics. I felt inspired to make my own, more traditional list. Here are my picks for the unhealthiest Thanksgiving indulgences:

    1) Bacon and Cheese Mashed Potatoes
As if it weren’t enough to add 8 slices of bacon and a ½ pound of cheese to your mashed potatoes, this recipe also calls for heavy cream, sour cream, and lots of salt. But wow does it sound amazing!

    2) White Castle Stuffing
In this even-unhealthier version of stuffing, you substitute 18 White Castle Hamburgers (with buns) for bread. Why? I’m not really sure.

    3) Turbaconducken
I found this recipe on Bacon Today, so it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s wildly unhealthy. You may have heard of the Turducken: a chicken is stuffed into a duck, which is then stuffed into a turkey. Now imagine that monstrosity wrapped in a thick armor of bacon and you’ve got the Turbaconducken. If that’s not unhealthy enough for you, I’m sure you can find a way to deep-fry the whole thing.

    4) Mac and Cheese Cakes
No Thanksgiving is complete without a little macaroni and cheese. This year, have it deep-fried to really push the boundaries of good health!

    5) Left-Over Sandwich
The least healthy-and most beloved-Thanksgiving tradition is the late-night sandwich. Pile a white bread roll with turkey and all of the above-mentioned sides and then drench it in gravy. Perfection!

What do you indulge in on Thanksgiving? What is the unhealthiest holiday dish you’ve ever come across?
