    -buy a couple of dumbells (not that expensive) and do squats, lunges, lifts, &etc with them
    -run
    -leg lifts, hold onto someone's legs and lift your lower half up and get the person to push your feet down - great for the core
    -planks (side, normal, coupled w/lifts)

    @__@ omg I need this information too. Well, I'm looking more for cardio exercises but... sorry, I can't really help.

    Maybe if you check like, cosmopolitan.com or like, those other magazine sites, they have different workout things.

    I prefer the gym because you're more apt to work out harder since others are around, but like what the first commenter said, but some cheap dumbbells, etc. I bought the Abs Diet workout video and found that that was helpful. They have beginner, intermediate, and advanced stages. I think any dance video works too. As lame as it sounds, Richard Simmons worked for me when I was in middle school, haahha.

    When I worked as a personal trainer at a major nationwide gym, we were trained to do the following for our new clients:

    Have them do some sort of strength exercise for about 30-60 seconds, and then switch quickly into an "active recovery" for 30-60 seconds.  For instance, we'd have them go into a low squat against a wall for as long as they could hold it, and then they'd do jumping jacks.  They'd do French presses while sitting on a fitness ball, and then they'd do mountain climbers.  They'd do alternating lunges with weights in each hand, and then they'd go run up and down the steps a few times.  They'd do push ups with their legs balanced on a fitness ball (or push ups with hands balanced on the ball and feet on the ground), and then they'd do high-knee skipping in place.  We'd alternate strength and cardio activities like these, and the workout lasted about 30 minutes.  It'd give us a good assessment of how fit our clients were.  It's a decent indoor, minimal equipment workout that we, ourselves, all had to do a few times a week when we were being trained.

    One of the most lucrative personal trainers from the Manhattan location was hired at our gym to teach our trainers how to do this and increase our sales.

    hmm i don't know good cardio for at home, but there are a few vids on youtube that i find really good for toning. I mainly do the arms/abs/buns. just search "8 minute arms" etc. the videos are suuuper old school and pretty funny, but effective nonetheless if you do them everyday!

    There are many exercises you can do from home...but first I need to know your level of exercise knowledge and basically what kind of physical shape you are in. Senseless to give you info otherwise. Could just be wasting your time.

    For at home abs and some arms, using a swiss ball is great- they're cheap (try Ross, they have them all the time for less than $10) and you can find all kinds of sets to do on them (crunches, pikes, push-ups, pass-overs, etc)

    Try walking at a moderate pace for at least fifteen mins or more and not just on flat surfaces either...the body has to be challenged with inclines or hills or steps as well as the flat surfaces...and I should know...as I'm recuperating from a very serious motor-bike accident...As I'm still in a rehabilitation hospital where we have physiotherapists to guide us...plus to help the healing I do a walk everyday...and its good for the heart...and as well as losing weight and toning the body...best of luck.

    Arms: push-ups.
    Abs: crunches.
    Legs: jump rope (or if you don't have a jump rope, just jog).

    I actually do a little of both. I love the gym but can get lost in it when I am there (meaning, I can not stop working out and loose track of time.) I like working out at home because I can look silly and there is no one there to see me slip up.

    I am a pilates/yoga gal who also likes her kickboxing. I recommend the Windsor Pilates video combo. You can pick it up now at Ulta beauty supply stores. It is Great for legs, butt and abs. Yoga is great for arms but I have no recommendations for any yoga DVD's except just go to Barnes N Noble and go crazy! Get a yoga mat which is not very pricey at all- I got one from Wal Mart that also came with a bag to put your strap, block and yoga gear and that was about $10! You can also use a yoga mat for pilates. There is turbo jam as well which incorporates weights but I have not used it in a while but not to say it does not work.

    At the gym, I am into the yoga classes, kickboxing classes and believe it or not wateraerobics which is great for the arms and if you had an injury and want to tone up.

    Workout DVDs are good I use Biggest Loser, its great. I used to walk with my ipod one around the block and each day I would mix it up a little and run and walk and stuff. And the old sittups trick usually works. If you have a wii my fitness coach and I could go on and on with all the workout routines I have tried lol

    i do 4000 a day (1 hour), play some upbeat music and the time will fly by really quickly!

    I prefer working out at the gym. When I'm at home I do work out tapes, but I find that I get bored with those more easily than I do the gym even though you'd think that would be a lot more monotonous. Apparently not for me. I'm personally between a rock and a hard place right now because I don't have gym access and I'm kind of disillusioned by my current work out tapes.
