We have been hearing out nutrition our whole lives, 'it's good to eat this, it's good to eat that', but most kids don't listen to that kind of stuff. Are you trying to eat better for a reason? Everyone has their own reasons for why they want to pay more attention to their health and their habits. Many for themselves and even more do it for others.
How and why does nutrition matter to you? I focus on my nutrition and eating habits mainly because it will effect my running. If I am training for a race I make sure I eat as well as possible during training and even better during the week of the race. What you eat definitely matters in your performance.
I have been training for the NYC Half Marathon for the past 12 weeks and race day is right around the corner. I can't believe it is already here! I have been trying to eat as well as possible these last few days which will help me reach my goal for the race.
If I eat bad, I run bad, If I eat well, I run FAST!
What are your reasons for eating nutritiously and staying healthy?

Feeling good physically, staying sane, and not getting sick a lot. Most importantly, not developing heart disease and diabetes and then dying of a massive heart attack at 49 like my dad.
Being more alert and focused. When I eat bad foods I crave more bad foods. So if I eat healthy, I want more healthy foods. I also want to look good and yes, I run too so the types of food do effect how I run.
If I focus on it too much I get obsessed. My mental health matters too, and if I think about nutrition and calories all day it makes me crazy. I just eat whatever I want in moderation.

in the offseason I'll let myself eat that cake or cookiebut now that I'm back into training and my race season starts soon I don't let myself eat that - I still eat alot (more than offseason actually) but I eat healthy foods b/c my body needs those nutrients to reintegrate itselfWhat are your reasons for eating

Better sex, clearer and smarter mind, happier mental attitude. I could go on for eternity with this list but if anyone does not at this point know how to answer this question then that means they have much more serious issues other then a bad diet.
Since I'm young (17) I'm trying to create good habits, both eating and exercising. I know that it's good to eat well and exercise, and it makes me feel good too.
So my body doesn't hurt. Since I have gained weight I noticed my body just plain hurts. I'm only 26! I shouldn't feel like I am 80!
So I'm not fat or tired.
