If You're Partying This Weekend... Here's Some Hangover Cures

I absolutely loved the movie "The Hangover," and as I hope most of you don't wake up with a lion in the bathroom, a baby in the closet, a lost friend and enemies that are well versed in Kung fu, I know some "day after tips" can only help.My hangovers seem to last the ENTIRE day after. It's not so much that I have a horrible headache, but I just feel completely exhausted and dizzy all day.
Although there are a bunch of concoctions that exist out there, it's important to get the fundamentals down.
- Sleep. You need to let your body recover after your night on the town.
- Liquids. Replenish your body with water and juices, nothing too sugary though that will only enhance the headache. If you can drink 2 bottles of water before you go to sleep with 2 baby aspirin (unless your too drunk... then I don't recommend taking any additional depressants), it usually does the trick for me. However, some completely disagree with this saying it magnifies the effects because they are both blood thinners; you got to play around with what works best for you- which is with most things!
- Orange juice is also good, as alcohol consumption decreases your immune system's ability to fight off diseases, so the vitamin C in OJ will counteract that to a certain degree.
- Don't drink coffee. The caffeine will only temporarily help but it will end up dehydrating you.
- Eat mineral rich foods, such as tuna or pickles. It will replenish you with what you lost the night before.
- Certain drinks can help! ...Like a Bloody Mary! The new alcohol will distract your body from dealing with the old, while simultaneously providing vitamins from the celery and tomato juice. Or you can try Hair of the Dog - which is a drink made of gin and hot sauce- sounds yummy.
- You can also try Alka Seltzer Morning relief, this seems to work for my brother who loves his nightly gin and tonics.
- You can also just exercise and sweat out the calories; tanning outside the next day seems to always work for me!
Anyways I hope one of these ideas will do you justice on your next "morning after." If none work you can always try a friendly beer the next morning which always seems to do the trick.
Anyone else have any suggestions for hangover cures?

Erm...don't get drunk?
@NightCometh@xanga - It's sad that so many people don't even consider that...
Anyway, I don't/can't drink anymore, but when I did, I just made sure to pace myself, and finish out the night with lots of water and a good-sized healthy meal. Get your 8 hours, and you'll be fine in the morning, provided you weren't deliberately trying to get hammered. Then, you're just being irresponsible, so you deserve whatever you get the next day! Ha.
@NightCometh@xanga - Hahah! Agreed
@NightCometh@xanga - Fantastic idea.
i know it's on your lists of don'ts, but i always want coffee when i'm hung over. i drink tons of water with it, but i need it to jump start my day. :/
"Don't drink" is possibly the worst thing to say to someone with a hangover.
lol i eat, get jamba juice...or go back to sleep haha
I don't like the idea of drinking again with a hangover. I just feel like I'm delaying the inevitable. Plus, I assume the hangover will come back with a greater intensity later. Still, I like most of this list.
Who's got two thumbs and a vicious hangover right now? This guy.
@radicalsounds@xanga - @radicalsounds@xanga - Very true, Good Ive choose to not drink as well
well a lot of the comments indicate pre-hangover advice... not what to do with a hangover... people will get drunk inevitably and when that happens, they arent thinking about preventing a hangover...
so if you do come to that unfortunate place known as a hangover, ive found that by far the best thing to do is to drink copius amounts of water.. as in about a glass of water every 10 or 15 minutes... after about 2 hours all adverse side affects are gone.
the reason this works is because you get a hangover because of dehydration. there is too much alcohol in your stomach and not enough water. drinking water not only replenishes the water, but flushes the alchohol. win win
this tips look helpfull, i must admit that many "days after" i was checking on the internet what the hell to do to get rid of that stupid headache and i read many times that healthy food such as vegetables and fruit can help which is, at least as i heard not a long time ago, not as good as it sounds, because your body needs junk food at that time. I don't know really what's true but i try all when i have a hangover =D just in case..
I drink the water before bed, I regret it if I dont!
I tried hair of the dog the other day, maybe it works for others but I just totally vommed.
i down a bottle of water right before i go to bed when i drink. ive never been hungover.
I am having one of those days lol. For some reason a cold shower/bath always brings me around too... Or if i go swimming the next day in a cold pool.. IDK, somethin bout cold water helps me.
eat and drink water before going to bed, helps if you mix your alcohol with something like gatorade instead of pop. I've never been "hungover" after doing that the night before, you can also pop a headache med but go for Motrin (ibuprofen) vs Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Aleve (NSAID) the latter don't help your liver after a night a drinking. I don't ever get headaches so I normally just eat and drink water, and try to get at least 6 hours of sleep. I do that and everything is good the next day, I've only woken up still drunk a few times and didn't get a hangover later in the day after eating and rehydrating.
