Did You Know?: Health Benefits Of Drinking Coffee!
I know what people say about coffee. "It has caffeine!" "It makes you jittery!" "You become addicted." Well fine, but I did some research and I found that there are actually some health benefits to drinking a fine cup of java. So get your coffee beans ready to start roasting because here are a couple of health benefits to drinking coffee.
1. It's good for the ol' noggin! Studies have shown that drinking coffee helps people to do well on cognitive tests such as IQ tests and ability tests. So drink up before you have an important test.2. It does wonders for your memory! Coffee is said to help prevent Alzheimer's Disease, in fact, it has been said that people who drink two cups of coffee per day are less likely to develop Alzheimer's than a person who does not.
3. It protects against diabetes! In a study done by Harvard, 1-3 cups of coffee per day helps to protect against diabetes.
4. It protects against Parkinson's disease! In another study done by Harvard, drinking coffee daily is supposed to reduce your chance of getting Parkinson's by a whopping 80%.
5. It helps you lose weight! Coffee increases your energy and metabolism, making it easier to lose weight.

Do you enjoy a daily cup of coffee? Do you think coffee has any health benefits? Do you think these benefits listed are bogus? What's your take?

@flawsnall@xanga - me too. but what's a caffeine addict to do.
i love drinking coffee.
I've heard that coffee is really great for you, but just coffee... not all the extra cream and sugar we all add to it.
@galadrielspitcher@xanga -
Use a straw!
@michaelealy514@thepopsite - i like the way you think. my teeth and my addiction are eternally grateful.
@michaelealy514@thepopsite - lmao I was about to say the exact same thing
I love coffee, but as far as metabolism, it has a tendency to give me the runs.
How many posts will there be about coffee? This makes......12? I've lost count
I love coffee!!!!!! The benefits that come with it are just like bonuses to me. :)
I love my coffee! It's my cheap student caffeine fix <3
I wonder if the health benefits change or differ if one uses pre-ground coffee or grinds their own beans. I will say this: freshly ground coffee is the best.
I love coffee, so I guess this just makes me feel good about what I indulge in.
The downside: it can cause feelings of anxiety for no real reason. Just think happy thoughts and it's no biggie.
Sometimes, coffee burns my stomach soooo badly. It must be the acid in it. Usually, it's fine, though.
I find that since starting college, my dependence for caffeine has grown significantly. It's terrible. I cannot seem to make it through the day without coffee anymore.
On the other hand, with the amount of sugar I put in coffee, I definitely will not be losing any weight by drinking it.
@wishful_____thinker@xanga - Drink espresso. It won't burn your stomach. Really.
yay~ I love coffee.
Personally, I think Coffee is gross, it stains your teeth, AND makes your breath smell absolutely awful.
i CANT put up with the taste. Coffee would be so awesome if I could put up with the taste.
Thanks for the article! Lucky for me, I drink coffee everyday! I'm so glad there are still simple things like this that can be beneficial to us.
I once had to do a report on proanthocyanidins, a powerful type of antioxidant found in many plants especially those parts that are tan and brown in colour. I would assume that coffee would contain some amount of these which would lead to possible health benefits.
Friggen love coffee :3
I'd believe the claims more if you had links up, but I have heard such things before.
Only drawbacks is the teeth-staining and occasional side effects from it.
Could you post links to all of the studies you cited please?
@Sarudomin@xanga, @lapis_lazuli917@xanga - Health Kicker edited this post before adding it to their site. I did not actually write the article. I just found it and posted it to mine because I thought the finding were so unbelievable!
@wishful_____thinker@xanga - me too. I like my coffee sweet. I use Spenda in it and soy milk to make it creamy and sweet without so much guilt!
@NinjaxBroadcast@xanga - what a great question... now you've got me wondering haha
@xrevivedloverock23x@xanga - really 12 posts about coffee?! wow. i guess there's a lot of us who love the stuff haha
