By Far the WEIRDEST Weight Loss Strategy I've Ever Heard

What if someone told you all you need to do to lose weight was to spray your mouth with this mouth spray called HCG? It's a hormone that will trick your body into melting fat so you never have to worry again! Except...It's a derivative from pregnant women's urine.
So, how about that spray?
I'm only bringing this up because someone I know (personally) has been doing this. She claims it works (she's someone in my life who likes to do a lot of unorthodox, crazy things). But, she said a lot of people used to do it years ago through injections. Now, it's a lot easier and safer because they bottled it up so you can spray it into your mouth! It just worries me that people are actually taking this. When are people going to learn this stuff doesn't work? Fad diets do not work! How long will you be spraying urine in your mouth for before you realize you can't do this forever!
Also, you still have to follow a diet plan. So...it's a stupid scam is what it is. It just annoys me when people do these things because it just feeds into this monster of misinformation about healthy weight loss and making it a lifestyle.
I can only imagine what the future will bring in crazy weight loss strategies.
Would you ever try something like this? Have you ever tried any crazy strategies to lose weight? Do you think these weight loss strategies work?

While yes, it probably doesn't work, "derived from pregnant women's urine" doesn't mean that they are spraying urine in their mouth. It just means that pregnant women produce that hormone and its most easily extractable through the urine.
I'm currently pregnant- who wants a golden shower?!?! :D
I heard about those shots a while back, and looking into it, they were pretty dangerous with no real studies supporting the idea it would help someone lose weight. Shot form, or spray, I can't imagine either are very health or effective.
I would do a lot of stupid things to lose weight, but this is not one of those things. Basically because I know it's chances of really helping me are slim, and therefore it wouldn't be worth the possible horrid side effects.
Oh, but the "diet plan" I heard people were informed to follow with the shot form of this was like seriously restrictive, like less than 500 calories a day or something. Which that should be a tip off right there that this is some kind of effing insane diet that will likely do you more harm than good.
dude,
my gf is on that RIGHT NOW! and as im sitting here looking up healthy eating ideas i accidentally went to a page with pictures of vegan doughnuts and got yelled at from across the room! She's on the first couple days so the appetite change hasn't quite kicked in... but here's her doctors web site...

She's super great...
My mom lost 40 pounds in four months using HCG. She might've gained 10 pounds back in the six months since. It works.
@Nina1981@xanga - HAHAHA laugh of the day! two thumbs up :)
yummy. prego urine!
ewww
laughable
Hormones are not something you should be playing with. They're your body's regulators and if you mess with them, especially adding human chorionic gonadotropin to tell your body it's pregnant.
What a stupid idea. If you care anything about your health.
U = urine
F(x) = U^4 is equal to F(x) = Gx + Rox + Ss^1. find the derivative.
F'(x) = d/dx(U^4) = d/dx(4U^3) = 4U^3
F'(x) = d/dx(Gx) + d/dx(Rox) + d/dx(Ss^1) = (G)d/dx(x) + (Ro)d/dx(x) + d/dx(Ss) = GROSS
so that 4U^3 = GROSS
(4 urine to the third power) yuck
@LEW_for_Life@xanga - You are a NERD. lmao
She's not literally spraying urine in her mouth, relax.
The concept kinda makes sense. Pregnant women don't need this hormone because they need the extra body fat so they pee it out.
But that means you already making that hormone, and if you're still fat, adding more probably isn't going to fix that. It's just going to screw up your body. You should tell your friend. I don't know anything about it though. :3 Could work.
@bAbiiExxPiNay@xanga - lol. I'm actually not. I just learned derivatives in my business math class at college, and found it funny that the product is a derivative of urine, so I slyly made a derivative function. First and last time I will ever need derivatives in my business career. And I know that it's not really pee, since it's derived from it.
@Nina1981@xanga - Best. Comment. EVAR.
@antimony_demon@xanga - agreed
@LEW_for_Life@xanga - haha LOVE it!
@bAbiiExxPiNay@xanga - "Pregnant women don't need this hormone because they need the extra body fat so they pee it out."
Actually, the implanted embryo produces the HCG, not the woman herself. The presence of HCG in the urine and bloodstream is the usual indication that a woman is pregnant.
"But that means you [sic] already making that hormone, and if you're still fat, adding more probably isn't going to fix that."
Actually, the theory is that using HCG (in addition to a very low calorie, restricted diet, usually 500 calories) to lose weight works only because the hormone probably tells the hypothalamus to consume the extra fat and protect the developing fetus instead.

HCG is human chorionic gonadotropin; interestingly, this is the protein that is tested for in the pregnancy test. If you're producing it, it means your pregnant- this is actually the protein that's tested for in the pregnancy test strips that you urinate on.
It's an interesting idea that this protein could somehow increase the body's metabolism of fat, but I did a quick Google Scholar search and it doesn't seem like this is supported by studies; if there is evidence out there, it's probably sparse and not very strong, so I wouldn't believe in something like this. Plus, in the context of its physiological functions, it doesn't quite make sense that it could induce weight loss. I'm not discounting the possibility, but like I said, it's unlikely, and most importantly, we don't have evidence.
there is a pill that helps, ADDERAL the MIRACLE PILL!
Are you bit slow and can't keep your energy up. TAKE ADDERALL! With in the hour, you will be feeling quite hyper and fine! you be concentrating a little more on that exercise program and don't worry about eating! just drink plenty of fluids and nibble and you be right as rain. If you are hyper this will calm you down, if you are calm this will make you hyper!
Adderal will give you the weight loss you will LOVE.
** Please note this is a sarcastic comment and is not meant to be taken literally. thank you and have a great day :)
@Islandgirl566@xanga - i didn't think of myself as ADD until i took an adderal and it made me feel really mellow and calm. haha.
actually, the HCG diet isn't a fad, and it does work. I did the injections in june, and I lost 30 lbs, and I've been losing since then too even though I'm no longer doing the diet. I haven't gained any of it back, and the people that I know who have also done the HCG diet are also NOT gaining the weight back. As long as the person doing the HCG diet follows the original protocol written by Dr Simeons then they will have amazing, LASTING, results. The hcg scam is by kevin trudeo or however u spell his name, he's a conartist who wrote a book about it. I'm actually most likely going to do another (short) round of HCG injections between thanksgiving and christmas, With my 1st round, I went from 200 down to 170 by the end of june, and I'm at 158 right now. It was all approved and monitored by my doctor.
ew this sounds disgusting
@herdaddysgirl@xanga - Good for your mom but 40 pounds in 4 months? that's 10 pounds in a month, about 2,5 pounds in a week. Your mom could have lost that with a 1300 calorie diet and with 30-60 min exercise everyday. All she's done now is lose the weight and not exercise, while if she had exercised she would have been in better shape. Although right now i'm just assuming your mom didn't exercise while taking this :P
It might help with weightloss, but it's no miracle, a normal diet will give you the exact same results. The benefit of a real diet is also that you'll be healthier (cus you need to pay attention to calories and eat healthy foods only) and you'll be doing alot more exercise and get used to exercising daily, which is obviously hella good whether you're trying to lose weight or not. This is for lazy people if you ask me.
if it actually worked, i would do it. shame that nothing is that easy.
