Hey, I Love Green Tea! A Rebuttal to the White Tea Revolution

If white tea thinks it's gonna take green tea's place, it better get ready for a showdown 'cause green tea's not going anywhere. Here's why.
- Green tea extracts can easily speed up the fat burning process. Researchers have discovered drinking a cup of green tea daily will boost your metabolism from 8 to 14 percent.
- This drink is filled with polyphenol antioxidants, and the more of these that are in a drink, the better the fat-burning effects and benefits will be. Green tea is a rich source of this particular antioxidant, that’s why it is considered as one of the best weight loss alternatives available in the market today.
- Originating in Asia, green tea has been a staple in the diets of Asians for centuries. The proof of what green tea can do is clearly visible in this culture, as Asians in general have slim bodies, good skin complexions and higher life expectancy rates.

As for point number three, correlation does not equal causation.
Reason number 3 is exaggerating. Asians preference for tea is due to the fact that tea washes down food taste, especially oilier ones. Tea is also very calming and many herbal teas are used for medical purposes. There are other factors that contribute to Asians being slim and part of the reason being that Asians live in warm regions, where the temperatures are high, so they sweat a lot. Plus, the Asian community is built for more convenience, where they usually walk around and take the bus. Unlike US, Asians walk a lot more and stores are within walking distances, so we are more mobile and active. We also eat just enough to fill our stomach and don't overeat just because there are food left on the table. American entrees are way too big for us. Also, in the past, even poor Asians nowadays don't have airconditioning in their homes, so they would sweat as they sleep (my grandparents house lacks AC and they're used to the temperature). Asians definitely don't rely on teas to get slim, there are various environmental and social factors. I could write tons and tons, but before you even give that argument, you should learn something about Asian culture.
While people can research and find "foods or drinks that aids in weight loss," the bottom line to losing weight is to get your lazy butt off the couch and exercise. Dieting doesn't work without exercise because you have to lose the stored up body fat. Instead of looking for a easy solution, which will disappoint you, work hard to earn it! People need to stop complaining, stop cutting corners and do something about their weight or more importantly, their health.
@xSayakax@xanga - Amen.
You do realize that white tea is grown in China as well? And while, yes, green tea does contain a high amount of anti-oxidants, white tea contains about 15 times the amount of anti-oxidants as green tea. Not to mention, all the benefits that green tea contains, such as lowering your cholesterol, white tea possess as well. Not to mention, if you still want a light crisp taste but not a lot of caffeine, white tea contains about less than 1% compared to a cup of coffee, whereas green tea is about 5 - 10%.
That picture is damn pretty. lol.
I like both green and white.
why not drink both?! win win!
I green tea too, but white is better.
but it smells like cow dung
@xSayakax@xanga - Are you implying that the consumption of Green Tea in Asian countries has nothing to do with it's weight loss properties? If so, that's definitely not true. Well, at least not in Korea. I can't speak for the others :)
@selfsaboteurr@xanga - If you read my comment correctly, I didn't say it didn't have weight loss properties, but I'm saying that green tea is not the sole reason Asians are skinny; their environment and culture also contributes to Asians having slim figures.
Green tea helps weight loss because caffeine is a stimulant and it increases metabolism...not because of polyphenols. Still, caffeine isn't the best thing for weight loss (the best thing is diet and exercise...it's also the most obvious).
Um? White tea has all of those things in spades. Why not just drink all kinds of tea? Why turn this into a fight for one or the other?
I usually have green tea
A lot of people should understand that white tea carries more antioxidants than green tea period because since it's not as oxidized as green tea, it leaves more antioxidants on the leaves. But green tea does work BETTER as a fat burner, but OOLONG tea works best for dieting because the caffeine targets straight towards your metabolism.
I really enjoy green tea and all its benefits. I had oolong t ea once and now that know its benefits will be drinnking alot more thanks for the information.@LoVeAbLeAsIaNGrL@xanga -
i work at a tea shop.
green tea is extremely good for you, very difference to white tea.green tea helps speeds up the metabolism, detoxes and cleanses the body, and also gives a little caffeine kick to your day.white tea on the other hand, has only 1% caffeine per cup and is loaded with antioxidants. Antioxidants can clear up the skin, great for colds and building up the immune system.
I drink tea for the taste, but health benefits are also great too!I recommend, black, oolong, and herbal teas too. my favorite though is mate, since i don't drink coffee..it's a great substitute!
